I liked when delevopers didn't have these hardware scans that are requried to sign up for the betas, and instead had these dropdown boxes where you'd choose processor, OS, RAM, video card...


I'd always choose the most appropriate specs given the game in question, instead of giving them real info LOL. Intensive game? Oh yeah I'll just choose the high end stuff, they'll want to see how it pushes the best video cards out ight now! Low-end graphics like WoW? Sure I'll just choose the low end crappy stuff, they'll want to know how it runs on crap hardware!

Back then it always seemed to work.

I'm just bored I didn't get an invite yet :(

The reason they do that is because there tends to be a lot of hardware incompatibilities in beta (game won't work with this family of Radeon cards or that family of CPUs). No point in inviting someone to a beta just to have them sit there and complain that the game doesn't run. It's frustrating for the beta player and their feedback is useless.

The NDA is still up but LMAO if anyone honestly thinks people are going to follow an NDA for a game they're only going to get to play for one weekend.

So is the beta just waves of 3 day access and then you're done? I don't think I could even get the beta client downloaded in 3 days if it's over 7 gigs.

Oh well.

hehehe. Buddy of mine got in last Tuesday. Was like a 28GB download then an 8GB patch

Huge file dl for a beta, should take one night for me to dl with a 20MBPS down connection.

It's not just for a beta. It's a beta, but it has retail amounts of content. It has almost 2gb of that just for bink videos.

what kind of file structure? Im surprised there arent people tearing the files apart like you see with wow etc

57 sub 500mb files. Probably all the data just clumped together in encrypted files. Dunno much about it.

Shaders are in their own folder w/ bat files.

Other typical folder exe stuffs.

Just to reaffirm, I was lucky enough to get an invite to this weekend's test. The download is pretty big, probably around 30-40gigs like the others have been saying.

I am guessing North America is done as far as full beta invites go. They will keep the ranks filled with Europe as they move into launch prep.

I would guess with them transitioning to weekend beta invites for North America they would have no reason to invite US gamers for full length beta anymore especially with Euro Beta starting this week

Pfft I'm starting to suffer from release date fatigue. The serious lack of some decent new leaks is also annoying me to no end.

Betacake is starting to suck and alterswtor is just posting talent trees, however nice those might be.

I NEED THIS GAME.

We might get in dat EU beta. Well, there's probably a 1% chance but I'm gonna try and keep my hopes up.

I've never known a company to turn an MMO into such a circus act. Full testing, weekend testing, Europeans being forced to test on U.S servers and the lack of EU testing in general. How are we to believe that the Euro servers will be ready and able to handle the load?

40GB download for 2 days play and expect the NDA not to be broken? Pftttt.....at least we can look forward to plenty of youtube/alterswtor/betacake footage!

Yeah I'm mad, no invite for me!
