Star Wars: The Old Republic [Releasing Date: Dec 20 NA/EU - NDA Lifted]

Still no invite here either, registered for testing the first week available. Although I am happy that some of us got in, I am secretly raging inside. I have gathered up all my BioWare games and have now soaked them in lighter fluid.

I do feel alienated by Bioware due to their handling of this beta affair and EU peoples. Not the good alienated too. The bad kind. The Jar Jar Binks kind.

Pfft I'm starting to suffer from release date fatigue.

You, me and everyone else I know. 3 years of updates with still no hint of release are starting to grate on us. Add in a beta test weekend where the invites seem to have absolutely no rhyme or reason to them and I've got a vent channel full of pissed off guildies.

Don't have a comp at home atm and my work comp has about 20 gigs free, so I'm not really concerned with even getting an invite anymore.

I doubt even with 40 gigs free I'd be able to download it before Friday at this point anyway.

I can play as late as I can stay up on Friday night, and 4-6 hours on Monday. I guess it's better than nothing, but I wish I would have been invited any other weekend but this one.

It requires a little over 38 to download.
It says that, but I checked later and it did not take that much to download.

That's how much space you need available because it has to decompress and install.

The ironic thing is your avatar is from the Special Edition and not the original. He had eyebrows in the original.

oh snap!

That sounds like a good change though. Not all of the SE changes were bad.

If Lucas wants to fiddle with the movies a bit more, so be it.

The only change I've ever really objected to was inserting Hayden Christensen into the end of RotJ - it's not even internally consistent with the rest of the Force ghosts!

I don't mind the SE's. The new changes are fucking dreadful though. It's not even trying to fix stuff, it's just reeks of blatant trolling.

What the fuck?

What made that scene so amazing is that you could see the turn even with the big plastic mask on. That "no" ruins it. Wow.
Now you're seeing the real Lucas. This is how all of the movies would have been. The man does not understand subtlety.

I'm beginning to doubt that Lucas actually made the original trilogy. Did he have some kind of ghost-director/writer or something?

So I transferred my pre-order of FFXIV (PS3) to SWTOR cause my buddy who I played WoW is going to start playing SWTOR. I'm not really into Star Wars, never played a Bioware game and haven't payed too much attention to SWTOR. I think MMOs are pretty fun so I figure that's a good reason to play this. I have to buy a new rig or laptop though. Nothing I have now can run this game.

About the EU invites:

Rockjaw Stephen Reid
As mentioned previously, we're inviting a large wave of EU folk to testing shortly, but the weekend invites that went today were not for EU.

More from the forum:

Many of the questions that are being asked here have already been answered by Stephen, so there's not much more I can really provide.

One thing I will say is that there is a little confusion here that I want to get clarified. First off the invites going out to European players that Stephen mentioned are happening very soon (we're talking days here) and will be to our Game Testing program. This means that those invited will have continued access to the Test servers throughout the Game Testing stage of development. Those invited will play on test environments out in the US, so may experience some latency related issues from time to time. As long as those testers are aware of that and can work around it when needs be, we're excited to get feedback from a larger EU crowd.

In the future we’ll also be holding EU Testing where players will access our European Test servers specifically, this is what we refer to when we talk about EU Testing.

The Game Testing Weekends that have been mentioned are just that; they are weekends where invited players will only have access for a weekend.

I know it’s a little confusing, but I wanted to make sure that we’re all talking about the same things here.

He was semi controlled for ep4, had a partner director for ep5, and himself on ep6.

He wrote them all but had help with the final script. Empire and Jedi had different directors.

Yep the reality is the leash is what George needs. Fox kept him on a very short leash for A New Hope. Problem today is he is so rich there is no leash

Empire did, but it's pretty well known that he directed Jedi.

It's funny how the less control he had the better they were. 5 > 4 > 6.

They were all great though.

Lucas has vision, but other people to need to take his vision & shape it. Why Indiana Jones came out great for the most part.

But he is not a director. He doesn't handle people well, and when he starts editing, he just wants to mess with it forever.

sigh, like I respect the dude, but he keeps adding shit to the things that sparked my imagination for years.
