That email was annoying, but not more annoying than the constant e-mails suggesting me to preorder the game I'VE ALREADY FUCKING PREORDERED.

Sure the beta is polished but imo if oyu're sick of wow I can't see you enjoying this, even if you you really get off on star wars lore

Now that you've had a chance to experience your own Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ saga, make sure you don't miss out when the game launches. Pre-order* for Early Game Access and lock in your copy today.

1. You never invited me to your beta.

2. I've already pre-ordered the game.

Fuck off EA/Bioware.

My same reaction. I started to non-voluntarily choke my phone when I got those emails last night.

Force choke.

Well, I won't lie, I was a bit frustrated, but these things do happen and I'll still get to play the game without committing buying it with Early Access. Sucks for Bioware and EA staff that have to deal with the fallout from what was likely the mistake of a small number of people or just one person.

Indeed I cannot see someone who is absolutely sick of WoW enjoying this game for more than a month or two tops.

They are just too similar. Obviously there are differences, but at the core they are quite alike.

It plays closer to KOTOR than it does World of Warcraft. Flashpoints in particular are nothing like an instance, and I hope that design philosophy carries over to the raids.

It is a traditional MMO by gameplay, which WoW is. Beyond that, not many similarities IMO.
Honestly a sci fi feel versus fantasy (which EVERY MMO since SWG has been...almost)goes a long way for me.

Sol..

I am Wayne Brady.
I think the game will tear into the patience of the most dedicated gamer. But i don't see why most people wouldn't enjoy it at least off the bat.

Well as long as they can fix lot of these graphical glitches, yea it seems pretty polished so far. My Twilek consular female has no hand textures! lol

It really will depend. I am sick of WoW but simply because I played the game for many years and just not really caring about it anymore. But doesn't stop me from enjoying other WoW like games. I just played out of it, and I imagine many people feel the same way. Lot of people sick of WoW went to RIFT and enjoyed it because it is something different and nice and polished, yet it really is just a WoW clone. Lot of people just want to play something new.

My main concern is how boring and grindy things might become. If they can't keep things interesting far down the line, then that is a problem. Those who go in for a single player experience will enjoy it but might be discouraged when they get to the more regular MMO aspects of it.

When people say like WoW I wonder what they specifically mean. I jumped ship from WoW for a one week stint in Rift. The First day of Rift I was very excited to see a different MMO.......Then I got to the main city and saw the gear vendors and realized that it was the exact same game. Grind PvP for PvP gear etc. I logged out at that moment and never looked back.

Now if the game was line Vanilla WoW I would be pretty excited! Some World PvP some instances to run, a couple of Lightsabers...

It's like Guild Wars opened up the cities and the overworld into one, in terms of levels.

There's world pvp but it's pretty much just ganking, so you're not going to get into a situation where you're constantly fighting other dudes your level.

In setting and style it's similar to any bioware game really, sage's running animation is pretty damn close to the run animation of the mage in Dragon Age 2.

Mechanically, especially the combat, it's literally WoW with a mixture of a few other elements from other mmos. There are various good features in it, such as companions and looting and crafting, but the combat is literally wow without 100% of the polish. It's like 95% of the way there though.

Yeah, that 3D map is really awesome.

Dang guys, I really don't know what to do :( My brother is picking this game up (heavy WoW player).

He says "So many of my in-game and Guildmates are mkaing the jump, I have to as well"

Which I think is a pretty lame way to join a game. But I find myself in the same boat. Since he and some friends are playing, I feel like I gotta crack under the peer pressure man!!

Yeah. It uses 3D models but they're jaggy as heck. :( Besides the map didn't really show anything special.

I've simply gotten sick of WoW's world; its races, its environments, just its overall aesthetic. For me, Azeroth as a setting has just gotten stale. If TOR does turn out to be WoW in a different skin, so be it.

Neat, will play with the map.

Do love the codex also in the game, was something I really liked that they did in WAR and glad they brought it over to here. Love fluffs

Gvaz said:
The codex is neat but I stopped reading the codex in bioware games after ME1, since I didn't care anymore

Depends on the universe probably. In WAR it was fantastic as it was filled with so much world and Warhammer universe lore. Here of course its full of Star Wars fluff which will please us fans. It also gives some nice diversion to spend time on.

Ok so I'm not the only person who got 2 emails from Bioware thanking me for participating in SWTOR game testing, asking me to share my testing experiences with other testers on their forum, and reminding me I can pre order and return to the world of TOR sooner.

1) Never was notified I was chosen as a tester
2) I have already pre-ordered on Origin.

Why did Bioware have to ruin Friday on me =(
Why =(

So I downloaded the game+patches, but it keeps freezing for me after I log in during the auto-adjustment phase. Help? I emailed testing support about it.

Support are next to useless, expect a "reinstall this 30GB game" response. I'd suggest checking the beta forums.

Run it in administrator and then do not press any buttons wait for it to load for the first time, it could take 5-10 minutes just let it sit there. After than it should run smooth.

You do realize you have said this exact same thing many times in this thread. Each time you are answered with many posts to the contrary. Why not just give it up.

So its an mmo. Riveting analysis.

The combat isn't like wows bc in wow there is very little combat interaction in the animation. You don't see characters duel and block eachother and companions make soloing and grouping leagues better than wow.

It's cool, you were never chosen as a tester to begin with. I got the same e-mails and I never signed up to be a tester or expressed any interest in this game.

I was talking about mechanics, animations sure I agree, but that's just visual flair not actual like, gameplay.

Obviously yes it's an mmo. The problem is the current WoW model is stagnant, it's boring. This game doesn't change that.

I can realize why people might like it, but thinking long term here I don't see it winning over the masses, not to WoW levels.

I felt like playing the original KotOR again, are there any visual mods for the PC version or anything like that to make the game look as good as possible nowdays ?

Its not the 'WoW' model. Its the standard MMO model. WoW did not invent it. And this game was never going to hit WoW peak levels. Ever, Im sure there were a few who believed it would, but it was never going to, and it wont.

MMO's dont need to hit that level to be successful.

I updated my drivers and was able to watch the cinematic! (Latest CG trailer... I wonder if it rotates between all three, hope it does.)

Fixed the weird resolution it set me as (where like 1/3 of the bottom of my screen was black and a stretched 1024x600 took up the rest.) Can't log into a server though, says to check again later. So I guess I will. Was hoping to finally play. :(
