Hrm....the graphics are much improved compared to the last build, textures are almost without complaints on my end. Performance is pretty good too.

Holy shit I got in too!

Wait, we only get to play for 3 days? And I only have a mac, lol. Guess I'll try it in boot camp.

In all reality I'd rather trade it for Diablo 3

I just got a "certificate error" when I tried to start the client (I had installed the game days ago and have been playing since) that told me to reinstall, so I tried but I got the same error on the installer. Turns out that you only have to set your system clock back a day for the game to work again. WTF BIOWARE

So now I have to download and install those 13 frigging GB AGAIN to play. Damn it. I hope it saved my settings somehow.

I just fixed this issue, and I tried reinstalling before setting my clock back, and this didn't happen. what did you do??

I don't know. >_< I ran the installer and it got the same error. I'm not going to set my clock back and download stuff until later tonight so it can do it while I'm sleeping.

Got this error too. Set the clock back a day to fix. Thanks for the advice guys.

Jeez Bioware, this doesn't make me feel good about the game with little problems like that.

Finally got an invite...I actually raised my arms in the air and said "YES!" when I saw the email at work. (Luckily my co-workers are also trying to get in the beta, so I had their reverence instead of shame).

So hyped for this weekend!

Yea most of the graphical settings are in the game now. The only thing that's still disabled is AA.

They just need to of course put in many of the missing textures on items. Had a group last night in a flashpoint who 3 of the 4 had gear on that had placeholder textures.

Lot of cutscene glitches to iron out as well.

Game looks good, just need to get it polished up.

The game has been pretty stable for me at least. I've not had a single crash in 30 hours+ I haven't tried this new build for that long but it seems fine.

Vid about the new cover system

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gOQBBZGq0Y

There are no longer hot-buttons for the cover abilities and both are activated with the middle-mouse button. The points around objects where you can take cover no longer light up or are pointed out unless you have a target selected and are in range. {forgot to demonstrate that in the video}

The portable shield is still available too, but also only available through the middle-mouse button, and can be deployed anywhere, whether you have a target, or are even in a safe zone. {also of note, as demonstrated a lot in the video, if you have a cover points selected and try to deploy the portable shield you'll roll over to that point instead}

Beta Testers Cry about this system -> Bioware makes it awesome :)

Portable cover is very quick to deploy, don't really see the complaints earlier about it making a person stationary. It's basically a second to drop. Been using it in flashpoints without issue, and even if you have to move you instantly break out of it. Just drop and use your cover ability and move if you have to.

Don't know if it was an old build problem that made cover real slow or something?

I got this after I first installed and tried to run the launcher again. I'm a weekender, so I was just trying to see what would happen. I saw what was mentioned here so I tried something. I set my clock back one day, then tried to open it again. It downloaded an update to the launcher and worked fine. Set my clock back to the proper day and it still works fine.

I actually dislike the new way they are doing cover. It sucks!

Before the change you could toggle on the "show cover" ability, which would highlight all of the natural cover locations, allowing you to set up behind natural cover whenever you wanted (read: before selecting any mobs), and having deployable cover as a different skill on a different button allowed me to choose when to use natural cover or when to use the deployable cover... meaning if the natural cover was in the wrong spot I didn't have to use it, I could just set up the barrier right where I wanted to be.

After the change, they made deployable cover a "passive" ability - and combined the "take natural cover" and "use deployable cover" to one skill. So you don't get to choose anymore, which means if there is a natural cover point highlighted you will take cover behind that point... so I had to toggle off the "show cover" ability, because it had me taking cover in all the wrong places, and now I can't setup behind natural cover before a fight. Even when you've selected the mob you want to fight it will still force you to any nearby natural cover regardless if it's facing the right direction, halfway across the room, or next to a group of mobs you don't want to aggro.. all of which have happened to me since the change.

I can understand how the old way could be annoying I guess... (not really) but I don't think the answer was taking away control from the player. The old system let me choose if I wanted to set up right where I am or roll halfway across the room, which is a very nice option to have. The new system says "You will roll across the room"

EDIT: Point is illustrated in syko de4d's video at 0:48. If you wanted to set up deployable cover 10 feet away, right where he was standing you could hit the "deploy cover" button and you would do that, now it just forces you to that cover point which might not be where you want to stand.

You can still do this. The ability is in your ability list and not given to your automatically. I found it in my list of abilities by accident and put it on my hotbar. Just press it and it shows you in grey possible cover locations

You still have full control of where you take cover, you just have to do it manually. They are just streamlining how cover works for quicker play

Not sure what you are talking about with it forcing you to take cover. If I want to deploy my own cover I just press the button and it does it, I have to choose the take cover button to go into natural cover positions. I never had it force me to go to either one, you got two hotbar buttons that will put you different cover

Yes! I'm in the beta (which may or may not have something to do with the mass e-mail fuck up from last week). Downloading now.

I'm glad they got the client problems sorted. Updating now!

I was in the Labor Day beta, but I was out of town all weekend. NOT THIS TIME

30GB download which I assume is the whole fucking game for just the 7th to 10th?

If you have a problem with it, you can pass the beta invite along. I'm sure plenty will take it off your hands.

Three days and 30gigs of space is kind of a pain. If I get my D3 beta invite this week I may even skip TOR.
30gigs?
Suddenly i don't care i didn't get an invite. I have only 27gigs space left, split beetween two drives. And i don't think i have anything i'd like to remove for 3 days sake.

Is mentioning that we might be in the beta against the TOS? If so I didn't say anything!
You can admit there's a beta test going on and you're in. That's all you can say.
