Argh why is the anti aliasing option blocked out on the beta! I dont need super flashy AA, even 2x will do! I've been playing too many console games lately and I am sick of jagged edges!

Under

C:\Users\Name\AppData\Local\SWTOR\betatest\settings

add

AntiAliasingLevel = 2

edit: damn you!

I've been chosen for the next Weekend Test.
Does anyone knows if this will be on the next weekend or probably not? I don't know what the procedure was before.

If it will be on the next weekend it will be a big bummer, since I won't be home to play it. :(

:D :D :D

This is not for this weekend right?

Any idea where the Tython Quartermaster is? Can't find this person. Or are they in the beta at all? Curious how the armor looks.

Are a good amount of graphical detail options not in the game yet? Game seems to look mediocre and doesn't run well on my rig that can max out BF3/Skyrim.

Yeah, the options are fairly muted at the moment and what is there seems a bit temperamental. I like that you can drop the refresh rate though, that option doesn't seem to show up in much and is probably a good fit for an MMO where you can often be juttering around.

Just finished Black Talon flashpoint. Fucking awesome.

Went Sorcerer, really contemplating going Sage after release. The combo of long range nukes + heals is pretty kickass.

I found the default fullscreen windowed mode ran like crap compared to running normal fullscreen. Runs super smooth for me after changing that.

Once you get a lightsaber at level 10.. man. Also, being a Sith is extremely annoying on that first world.. the red planet begun to hurt my eyes.

After you go to the first off world space station thing.. man that looked cool.

It was also weird after playing WoW for so long and just finishing a night of Skyrim to create my first character, login, seen the first cutscene and see my character walk off the ship. The first NPC talked to me with voice acting.. and I had a dialogue choice. After I chose it I was extremely surprised to hear my character speak. So weird for a game like this. Also, the voice acting of my character is pretty nice.

Am I missing an option to alter that? I noticed it was doing windowed fullscreen like WoW but I can't seem to get it to traditional fullscreen.

Im thrilled all you guys are liking the beta. I think the game is super fun.

I want the opinions at the end of the weekend after they get through Coruscant and are drudging through Taris.

After getting to Level 9 as an Inquisitor and about to leave to Dromand Kas - I will say this - no other MMO has ever had me this hooked to the story and engrossed in the world....

.... And I worked for Blizz for 5 years since right before WoW launched.

However - other than the story and cinematic experience - its just a standard MMO so far with not so great quest design thus far (just fetch quests). Hope the variety picks up to the level/polish of the storytelling.

Typical. I stop caring about this and get invited to the huge opened/closed beta thing. Do you receive an email after the first one with a code? Can't see what to do next.

Wait, no-one knows anything about it other than it's happening in the next few weeks.

Damn the Consular Class is so much fun, while the Knight on the other hand has been quite underwhelming.

It's unoptimized.

Here's some fun graphics stuff:

enter these values into your "client_settings.ini" file located in your users\____\appdata\local\swtor\ etc folder

AntiAliasingLevel = 2
enableadvenvirolighting = true
DebugAdvEnviroLighting = true

Prophecy of the Five.

Out of curiosity what does these 2 do?
Turned it on and thought the lighting looked better but it could just be my eyes playing tricks on me. I also feel like the game was running better after adding the antialiasing line aswell, haha. Does anyone else have Vsync on? I dont know if its necessary for this game but lately I have been forcing Vsync and triple buffering on everything.

The NDA seriously needs to get lifted. Its really ridiculous considering how many people are playing the game now.

I'm going to laugh my ass off if they keep it for the stress test weekend.

Everyone that signed up before today is getting an invite people! It's not for this weekend :p

It's for the "semi-open beta" weekend thats coming this november.

Check swtor.com for details!
Cool, I was wondering what the deal was. I got the email that said "Hey, you're in" then never heard anything else.

I'm thinking they do. My email still said that everything I see and do during the beta is confidential.

I don't know what those two do. Speculator told me to run it with those on, so I do.

EDIT: Woke up to a blue screen this morning and had issues getting my computer to even boot :/
Really hope I'm not going to be stuck playing this on my laptop on low settings.

Coruscant tends to drag a bit near the end and Taris while having a beautiful art design is full of filler missions that are boring as dirt.

It's important to also mix things up with doing flashpoints and pvp so that a person can avoid some of the filler stuff if they like.

But what if someone doesn't want to be forced into grouping with other people?

Then why are they paying for a MMO?

I know someone who won't be. He's buying it, will play through the story he wants in the first free month, and then will be done with it.

I'm gonna wish him good luck with that :p I think even playing one character (just doing the bare storyline quests needed to reach the level cap and end) takes a whole lot more than a month. Unless he can tackle 200 hours in a month.

People did it A LOT faster than that in the beta.

How many different character voice actors are there? Like is the female voice actor for a Sith Inquisitor different than a female of another class?
