helped a brotha out on multiple separate occasions!
I didn't get any RSVP email. I haven't gotten any email past the first one. The only reason I managed to confirm last night was because I was checking this thread to see if we could download.

I got my RSVP email earlier today and now I have to wait for my confirmation email. This is a bit ridiculous : /

I would have been in the same boat as you but I went and RSVP'd and DL'd the client this morning after seeing the thread. I still haven't received my email and I was in during the 11th-13th test.

I did the same thing last night when it went live and I still got that RSVP email later on in the day. Guessing they must be sending the RSVP email out in waves and not even bothering to check if someone has already started the download.

Hmm I received my confirmation email almost as soon as I confirmed through the site
I got that email too when I did it last night, I meant the confirmation email the RSVP email mentions they'll mail out later in the week confirming which wave your in.

I got an invite since I have a Dreamhack ticket, but could never accept since they seemed to have trouble with their login system.

Wait, what? I RVSP'd before my email came, and it accepted me. Now they sent the email, do I need to RVSP again? Don't really want to loose my place in the queue...

Same question. I already rsvp'd and entered my security questions etc. Do I have to respond to this email?

Btw, I really hope I'm in wave 1.

If you've RSVP'd you don't have to respond to the very late emails.

Apologies if this has been answered - tis a big thread. My question is about latency and rubberbanding.

Rubberbanding would be when you run around in the world, and if you're lagging, the server will snap you back to a location on the game client as if you hadn't moved at all. It's especially noticeable in some MMOs where you're running along, start to lag, jump over a fence and keep running, and then a few seconds later you're teleported back in front of the fence.

Does TOR operate in this way - with rubberbanding? Having it present would drastically change playability of this game in my case. I'd very much appreciate a response.

This whole "tester will be accepted in waves" bugs me. If you are in wave 3 you are pretty much screwed.

Can't wait for the damn early access next month so we are done with this friggin beta. Also, its not helping to read the already "elitism" brewing on the beta forum. WWWAAAAAHHH we regular testers wants to be seperated from the weekenders testers because they make the game unplayable for us.

Way to go guys, way to go. Doesn't bold well for release with such tards lurking on the forum already.

These tards make up the fabric of our entire society. Better get used to it.

So I got the email and downloaded the game client. I try to log on but it says this account needs additional activation steps blah blah. Is it like that for everyone, can;t I download the whole client even if I do't get to play now or do I have to wait? Till when?

All MMO's have that to some extent, but really how well the game holds up wont be known till after launch when you have tons of folks playing and the real game servers are up.

Yeah, I can't even respond and support still hasn't got back to me to help reset my security questions. Meh. I might be just out of luck this weekend. But at least I got the client downloaded from a friend. Maybe I could just use his account.

Got an invite the day after I went on holiday for 2 weeks, just seen it now and confirmed myself for this weekends trial, hope I actually get some play time in.

For those trying to get onto the SWTOR site to RSVP, change passwords, or update security settings, there seems to be a huge problem trying to log in right now. I'm assuming the site is getting hammered by the thousands of beta invitees trying to get on to download the client or update their account information.

There also seem to be some severe issues with trying to update account information right now too. I am able to log into the beta client with current info but sometimes when I use the same information to log into the forums I get prompted to change my password. Sometimes it skips this and logs me in anyway.

Got the invite, RSVP'd, installed the client. I see this is a "weekend" beta, but still, when can we actually play?

Thursday? Friday? Saturday? What exact time?

Oh, it's unquestionable that the game will have at least some lag. My question is more about how the game handles it. For instance, WoW does not have any rubberbanding no matter how high your ping goes. You can be somewhere on your screen, but you won't actually be there until your connection finally tells the server that's where you are. However, I've never been teleported back to a spot I was in a few seconds ago, which would be rubberbanding.

Depends where you are in line with the RSVP. Could be Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Yeah, just found the info

SWTOR official post said:
To simulate a launch environment, testers who have accepted new invites to weekend testing will gain testing access in staggered intervals based on when their invites were accepted. The first group of testers will be able to log on beginning on Friday morning (11/25) at 10:00AM CST (16:00 London, 17:00 Paris/Berlin). Then, Saturday and Sunday at 10:00 AM CST (16:00 London, 17:00 Paris/Berlin) the second and final waves of testers will gain access. Please watch your email for details about when your phase of testing begins. This will come in a separate email from your invite.

To our existing testers: at 10:00AM CST on Friday 11/25, you will notice several new servers appear in server selection for the weekend test to accommodate all our weekend testers. You are welcome to create characters on these new servers, but please note that they will only be available for the duration of the weekend test, which ends on 11/27 at 11:59PM CST (11/28 5:59 London, 6:59 Paris/Berlin).

Yeah launch is going to be a nightmare haha. If it wasn't coming out right when I had time off I would definitely wait a few months.

Why would you think it's going to be a nightmare? They're testing their launch now so that they add potential more servers for a smoother launch week. I think it's a great idea as a whole, but it sucks for those who just get to play on Sunday.

IIRC someone here once said that you can download and run from an external HDD right? I want to download it at school to save bandwidth and then transfer the files over to my PC. Anyone know if it'll work?

Yeah of course it is a great idea to test this now. But the lack of a patcher, the shaky website stability, the mysterious account security issues that change right before they send out beta invites, the 12 hour or so lag between when you can RSVP and when they send out emails, etc. etc. These guys are newbies at running an MMO and it is pretty much guaranteed that the launch is going to be rough.

I haven't logged into the website for the old republic since they were hacked, and had to reset my password. I submitted the reset and am waiting for the email for further info on how to do this. It's been 30 minutes, how long does it normally take?

Can't say I blame them with the trouble they face now. Considering how many people are wanting to play this game. They got a lot on their plate. Like any other new MMO, patching, adding servers, chat turmoil, and Day 1 woes are pretty natural in the MMO birth.

Well yea, pretty much all MMO launches have been rough, and they are showing at least that they are trying to work around it.

The game does have a patcher, don't know why this nonsense started, patcher has been in beta for quite a while now. As explained before build releases are different matter during the beta due to how they handled the files.

The whole point of this weekend is supposed to be to test all this stuff, there are going to be problems and this is why they are doing this test. It's also why I'm not touching this weekend test. Hopefully they get good info and experience for the launch
