I'm calling it now, Empire has better stories and missions compared to the Republic. Sith Warrior so far obliterates JK on the story front. I'm blown back by how much better the writing is.

Seriously the Jedi got the shit end of the writing stick.

I disagree. I played both SW and JK to level 10. While the first few levels are rather boring - for both - the finale as you jump planets makes up for it.

JK story spoilers:
as a JK you are hunting down someone that is responsible for corrupting the local denizens and fellow jedi's too, in the end you find him and are given the option to turn him back or kill him. Obtaining your lightsaber thereafter was well done and fleshed out the class really well. I thought it was awesome.

Though the filler crap in between was really bad. Like Naruto bad. SO BAD.

Thus far Sith Inquisitor still reigns supreme.

Played from 10:00 am to 2:00 am, only took breaks for food and bath room.

And I generally have ADD when it comes to games and my play sessions rarely last longer than 2 hours.

Time for bed and more SWTOR when I get up.

Same, and almost LV20. Time to get some ZZZZ's.

Well had to go to sleep because my whole body was paining from Thanksgiving and BF and now maintenance!

I think I am going to ditch my Imperial Agent and play BH and Smuggler to level 10. And then I have to decide whether to spoil Sith Inquisitor storyline or not for launch...

I'm just really impressed that it hasn't been the clusterfuck lag-fest/crash-fest that everyone was predicting. I had no lag, did not have a log in que at all either. Everything went very smooth.

Sith Inquisitor is certainly the worst of the bunch and I can start to see why alot of people hate it.

As for JK vs Sith Warrior for the starter planets:
The Sith Warrior storyline line brings up social issues such as elitism where you're favored because of the purity of your blood and yet the other guy who worked his ass off to get where he is, is pushed aside. There's also nothing in the JK storyline(on the first planet anyway) like the scene in the SW storyline where you kill your former master. The morality choices are better such as letting your first master live, sending the students after your rival, or the prisoner situation. The three prisoners is far and away the best thing on the starter planet as having to decide and then explain your choices was brilliant. Even better was that the correct choice for one of them was actually the lighside choice.

Seriously the JK storyline is generic shit and has tons of bad writing such as the former student being able to take out a Jedi Master and yet you then come and kick his ass. What?

Let's just agree to disagree, because Sith Inq is my favorite of the stories so far.
That's 10 on JK, SW, BH and like 4 on trooper - Almost 20 on Inqs. Best class. Best Story.

Oh, thought you were asking which was better!

I do this:

"client_settings.ini" file located in your users\____\appdata\local\swtor\ etc folder

AntiAliasingLevel = 2
enableadvenvirolighting = true
DebugAdvEnviroLighting = true

Hmm, I cant find the client_settings.ini anywhere.

Played a smuggler tonight to level 11.

Encountered a few crappy bugs. Randomly can't loot things and my action bar is fubar for combat. I changed the order for a decent rotation and now it can't make up its mind if it wants to remember the old set up or the new one. I hit the action I want and sometimes it chooses the old assignment... sometimes the new assignment. I have to apologize several times for looking like a moron if I party up with anyone.

Overall, it's not bad but I'm irritated by the huge quest zones. So far they're confusing labyrinths that I get burned out in halfway through. I get tired killing the same mob four times running back and forth looking for crap.

I am already burnt out on the WoW bashing/Bioware brown nosing (put politely) in chat.

The AppData folder might be hidden if you haven't enabled that in your OS.

C:\Users\______\AppData\Local\SWTOR\betatest\settings for me.

To enable it in 7: Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization - then click on show hidden files and folders.

You mean the one I've always logged in from? The force is weak in this security system. :[

It was pretty surprising at how smooth this stress test was for my playthrough. The previous weekend I did was laggy and you had to compete for mobs. Despite the queued servers, I had no problem with any of my quests and none of the starting areas felt crowded.

I'm confused at how you can get confused...I find the maps in this game thoroughly simple to read, and the green icons showing you where to go are impossible to miss.

Ahh, that did it. Thanks.

Do you have to add those commands to the list yourself? There's no AntiAliasingLevel or enableadvenvirolighting in the list.

Edit: Oke, I have to add them myself :p

Really got bored playing the Jedi Knight up to lvl 10.

Then rolled a Bounty Hunter woah, night and day story wise. I'm sure the JK 's story unfold in things more epic after that but thus far even first two hours as a bounty hunter, you feel like a baddass mofo.

When I tested like a year ago, it was either play as a bounty hunter or imperial officer on Hutta which I was bummed out about at first but then I grew to love the BH class. You really do feel like a badass busting out a flamethrower and rockets, etc. The only problem with that class is Hutta in my opinion. :p

I think I'll try to find the best starting planet and use that class next. Anyone have suggestions?

Hutta IS the best starting planet. If you just don't like the look, probably the jedis are the 'prettiest' starting area. I think all around the non-jedi class quests are far superior to the jedi/sith though.

I like Tython a lot, but you would have to play as the weaker storylines.

I enjoyed their story, but I really disliked their gameplay. I haven't tried one in almost 2 months though, so maybe things have changed. But my love of Mako is sometimes enough to overcome that.

I love Vette just for the shock collar alone.

Did I ask for your opinion? *shock*

I found it incredibly bland both visually and in terms of quest design. The game isn't impressing me so far and unless something clicks by the time Monday comes I don't see myself keeping my preorder. I feel like it really isn't anything special without the SW license, which only does just a good enough job at obscuring that. Even then it could have more life, or character, for freaking Star Wars to draw from, imo

That review that was posted a few days back was more accurate than not.

Some of the Sith Warrior choices you have are just fucking brutal. I'm very interested in how Light side works for them, because their dark choices couldn't get much darker.

I feel the exact opposite, I hate star wars and am enjoying the beta in spite of the license. Really digging going through two stories at once in co op and working through all of the quests with tandem conversations, the outdoor heroic dungeons and the mini bosses are really fun with the combat mechanics and I really like the pseudo open ended environments where you're not confined but not traipsing across empty land masses . Bit of a culture shock after years of wow though where I love end game but the leveling game is just fucking digital agony. Wonder if it'll be the opposite in this for me.

Level 14 Trooper, hello Jennifer Hale!

Loving the story, but it's still an MMO with all its quirks.

Urgh. I'm sick of her voice. Every fricking game. At feels like it. She's good but not exceptional really. The problem with hearing her so much is that it detracts from immersion.

Killthee

helped a brotha out on multiple separate occasions!
Launcher is letting me hit Play but the NA servers seem to be offline. Does the server select automatically refresh or do I have to quit and restart to update it?

Make prettier screenshots bij hiding the UI with alt-z. Thank god for universal MMO shortcuts :)

I know her mostly from Mass Effect, which works pretty well because it's both accessible sci-fi. So no overexposure on my end, but I can imagine how it may grate on some.

Really strange. For some reason I have a stuck pixel in the game, and only in this game. Everything other program/image on my PC is fine.

It even shows up in screenshots I take with fraps.

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c221/zerohaste/swtorstuckpixel.jpg

Upper left side of the screen, bright pixel an inch and a half or so below the right corner of the chat box UI.

What in the world would cause a single, bright pixel?

I am so happy to hear that, I thought I had a dead pixel in my TV.

Man, I wish I had a computer..!

Always interesting to try an MMO at launch time, generally fun to play despite faults for at least a period of time. I always like that fresh feeling of the world.

Just read the time closer, says I can get to play at 10:00 AM 'CST'(!), about 17:00 GMT+1 and then it is time for AMD Saphire Dreamarena here. :(

This is one of the ugliest games I've played in the past 10 years. The art style is awful, and the graphics are laughable. Even the 7 year old World of Warcraft looks significantly better, graphically (though the engine has received updated, obviously).

The game's streaming engine is also terrible. Constant frame drops as it loads new areas.

Fuck, finally someone who sees it. I was playing with my brother and a friend last night and they just didn't want to see it. Fucking hyped out of their skulls I'm afraid. But yeah, I agree. It's unbearably ugly.

Sooo much running in huge empty lifeless areas aaaah

"Why isn't this game better?"

Now that I've played it myself, I am absolutely amazed at how easily people dismissed the negative commentary about this game before beta was more open to people because "you haven't played it"
