All these brag posts about beta invite make me :( & >.<. This is probably what it feels like walking in your significant other cheating on you.

Pfft, what's better than playing a game for the first time in an imbalanced, wonky state? Playing it for the first time in a bugless, perfectly- wait... this is an MMO launch. Hurm.

This is TOR I will play it in any state.

I wouldn't be too worried. Most MMOs (expansions) these days have a pretty solid launch with minor bugs. They get fixed pretty damn fast within that first month. Rift is a good example.

You can get 50/5, but I don't have any justification to pay more than I am right now. Looks like I have 15/5 actually.
I actually can't. The most I can get (I'm apparently actually more like 18-20/2) and the next one up in my area that is supported is 22/5 or so for $100 a month.

I signed up for this F'ing beta decades ago...DECADES!!!

I hear you, I am the same way. My wife, my brother and me all signed up the day you could submit your specs. That was almost 4 years ago at this point

I've been signed up for a year or something, but no invite. Upgraded my PC recently tho, so I just logged into the site and let them scan my new system.

It's probable they are filtering (at least to some degree) by computer power. Maybe I'm wrong. But updating your specs in their DB can't hurt eh?

The post below is pure vitriol:

Lol, I don't need the fucking beta. You dudes can enjoy working slave labor testing unfinished shit for Crapware. That's right Bioware, I don't need your fucking beta, I'll get it when it's all done.

Now the question that they probably cant answer is the beta like the priors with set dates of playtesting before access ends

Lucky you can get that, I'm on a miserable connection thats less than 1mb down and less than .25mp up.

I can play WoW and SC2, but downloading games/patches is a real chore since it often takes days for the big stuff. Downloads also make it so I can't even surf the net until they are finished.

Was hoping I could get an invite today, house-sitting for someone starting Saturday and I could have used their real internet to download the beta. But as usual I get nothing.

Can't argue with that... Yeah, if someone stuck a copy in front of me, I probably would too ¬_¬

That's good to hear; WoW was the last MMO launch I was a part of and for some reason had the impression things hadn't improved much since.

Careful what you wish for. Your getting an almost full experience in the current beta, but with the knowledge anything you do will get deleted in a few weeks time. Worst case is that you really enjoy a class and then realise it gets destroyed when the game goes live (RIP Beta Paladin/WoW)

Savour the fact that the game is likely out at the end of the summer.

Updated the OP. Still going to add a couple things.

I am pretty much out of space, had to delete various descriptions etc.,

What do you want me to add to the Neogaf guilds heading.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who got their second wave of invites! But damn I need a video card badly, mine won't be able to run the game. I guess it's time to buy a video card! I had a 9800 GT before and it ran the game like crap, but then again my card was malfunctioning at the time as well.
What would be a decent card that will be able to run it? Looking to spend up to ~$160ish.

I would gladly use your beta key for you and save you all that $$. Just PM it to me. :)

Beta builds are going to perform substantially worse then retail version. The reason is the game will have a debugging tool, data collection tool, and various other information collecting tools running at all times. This will decrease your performance by a significant amount.

That said, upgrading will be better in the long run anyway.

Add this as a disclaimer:

"GAF guilds tend to fall apart soon after launch (for example: GAF Rift guild)."

Do we know what the specs are? I was under the impression it was going to try to be like WoW and scale to get the widest net of players

Generally optimization is the last thing to happen in a game, which is why we never get specs until the end of a project.

I'm probably not allowed to say that my dusty Q9550 + 9800GTX+ ran a certain beta just fine.

We are pleased to welcome you into the Beta for Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed. Thank you for volunteering to help us build a stronger, more stable game.

but no really I mean the other one.

*force chokes you and throws your corpse off the mountain top*

My computer is halfway decent I think and I signed up way back in 08 and still nothing.

What a tease :(

For record my specs

i5-750 OC'ed to 3.38 Ghz
4GHz DDR3 1333
1.5 TB HDD
Gigabyte P55A-UD3
GIGABYTE GTX 460 1GB

Not exactly a beast of machine, but pretty good for a budget build that is 1 year old.

Substantially isn't the correct word, I've been in more MMO betas than I care to say and the difference in performance will not change drastically when the debug tools are pulled out. You might see a 1-2% increase in performance, but it won't allow you to go from not running it to running it, that simply will not happen. Judging by the on the floor footage the game runs like butter, granted I haven't seen what specs they're running, but one can assume as long as your PC is 3 years or younger you won't have any issues running the game. Possibly even older since I think they're going for the running on a toaster scalability.

Better than mine. I have a X3 720 @ 3.2, 8gb ddr2, and a 1GB 4890

so a little less.

MMO betas are always a better experience than the first 1-2 weeks of retail -- but hardware wise, yeah I never really notice much of a difference.

I've got 4gb RAM, q6600, and now a GTS250 (replaced a burned out 8800GTX).

Probably won't be able to run the game at max settings but I still shouldn't have any performance issues.

Not that it matters, since Bioware hates its fans.

Please tell me you didn't get an invite because I've got about the exact same specs.

The beta build on the show floor runs like butter because they it isn't connecting to the beta servers. It is connecting to a server they bring to E3, and hook up nativly. It also has all the debug stuff and various other things not installed.

The beta as it is currently, runs fairly choppy. I have a brand new Sandy Bridge machine and get some stuttering.

You are right, the difference in performance isn't huge from the standard beta, to launch. But this is basically alpha. Even though the game is very near complete.

There were less then 40 people on the beta servers last night, and even during peak, I have not seen it go over 200. Considering there are 1.5 million people opting in. This shouldn't even classify as a closed beta.

Guess we're on the same boat then. I can't even update my system specs. It keeps saying scan error...

Same here, trying to sign up for the first time and once I got my scan results back but submitting them did nothing. Maybe its just getter hammered I don't know. Even tried Firefox and nothing.
