First perf results:
55- 60fps in the first caves as you start the game and then 40fps outside and during the first fire fight with the pirates.
Playing at 1080p on mostly medium with render scale set to 100% and FSR2 enabled.

Looking at those specs, I’m pretty confident that I’ll be flying above 60fps at max settings 1440p on my rig.

So did my friend with his 7800x3d. we game share on steam but while he got to preload yesterday, im not seeing starfield under his game's list. i guess microsoft doesnt allow game sharing on this game.

I will wait till midnight to see if it unlocks, otherwise i will just buy the code from a reddittor. thanks for the tip.
I bought a 7800X3D but only the ryzen 9 cpus and the gpus come with the premium edition. Your friend got the standard edition that unlocks on the 6th. (I havent claimed mine yet so feel free to correct me if im wrong but pretty sure im not)

Hope I can run it at 1080p at least on medium. Pre-ordered Premium Edition on Steam, so I'll be playing tonight.

I wonder if you can install Steam in Win98. Probably not.

I am sure that Starfield is a 64bit application.
Valve dropped support for Win98 in 2007, so a long time ago.
It did support WinXP and Vista until 2019.
Win7 and Win8 Steam support will end on Jan. 1, 2024.

Why are you all paying $100 for the early access edition!!!!

I am so pissed that even if i spend $70 for the game, its still not good enough to play it day one.
I want the expansion. I also want to play early. Am I an idiot for preordering? Absolutely. It looks amazing but I still have my reservations.

Might be CPU bound in them cities. If it is then for most of our CPUs it will be this:

Batman497.png

If it manages to bog down your x3d then most of us are in trouble and I don’t even know how those horrible CPUs in the boxes are running it at 30fps.

Not going to try it out until the standard release date (on Game Pass).

7800X3D
RTX 4090
64GB DDR5 6000
2TB Samsung 980 Pro (main SSD)

Should run okay, hopefully.
