I haven't got a shipping email yet, and I bought it on June 4th. What gives? I'm getting nervous.

In the same boat; ordered within the first hour on June 4th and still no shipping confirmation. Still only says "Shipping Soon" in my order history.

10/10 delivery date for mine! I've been holding out on some 3rd person games in my library to use with this, so it should be interesting to compare it with my wired 360 controller.

Oh shit! Just got tracking number for mine. Estimated 10/13 delivery.

What does your Steam account page say? I have had a tracking number for a long time, but the Steam page recently changed to "Shipment prepared" :(

About the settings, is it possible to configure it so when you hold a button the game thinks you are pressing that button again and again instead?

One thing I'll readily admit - an analog stick is way better than pure WASD. Even if you're just using a modifier to walk and analog emulation, it's usually much better than wasd. The steam controller is like the best parts of a gamepad with the best parts of KB&M.
Well, except for the mouse. And all the keys.

I mean, I got a Steam controller preordered, but I very much doubt I'd enjoy playing RTS (or even competitive non-console-style FPS) on it.

If that's what Turbo is, then yes. With the facebuttons you can only configure it for all 4 of them and not separately though. At least 8bit ot Woodsie, dunno which couldn't do that. You can also configure that for the triggers.

I'm with you. Ordered in the US in the first hour but nothing other than "Shipping Soon" on my account page. No emails as of yet.

Same here. Ordered within first hour or two here in the US, and mine also just says "Shipping Soon". I did notice around the first it dropped the estimated date of 10/16.

Got the email. Pre ordered on August 21st. Doesn't mention anything about a shipping date though. I'm in Arkansas.

I'm in Arkansas as well but haven't received an email yet, ordered June 4. Kinda patiently hitting refresh.

I think I'm more excited about the radical support for community controller maps than anything else. I'm taking their word for it that the right pad can go toe-to-toe with the right stick.

My hope for the controller is that it makes PC games with no/poor gamepad support (Morrowind, Mass Effect, Rust) doable on the couch. If it becomes my go-to pad for all PC gaming, including games with xinput support, i'll say Valve has a hit on their hands.

The idea of using the Steam controller for Dota or Starcraft still feels like a pipe dream. Maybe Diablo3 could work.

Devin updated his blog post:

Update: Motion Controls

One of the more understated features with the Steam controller is the addition of a gyroscope for motion control. While it can be used to simulate an analog stick or even individual buttons, when I tried using motion control to play Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed,* I quickly went back to just using an analog stick as it was just simpler.

Where the gyroscope really shines is when controlling the mouse. I found that playing around with the gyroscope sensitivity options gave me several different options for playing FPS, for instance. I could crank the sensitivity up and wander around with just turning my controller left and right, which worked surprisingly well but probably still not the best way to play, or I could keep the sensitivity low and use it to fine tune my aim. In addition, Valve have kept a huge amount of customization for this area as well, and one of the coolest options is making motion control only activate when you’re pressing a certain button or have your thumb on one of the trackpads, which does wonders for making the motion control feel manageable.

And at the end of the day, you can always just ignore it. But I recommend at least trying it out.

Also, I didn't mention, but in 8bit's stream we found out Valve removed the stick mouse option from the pads. It wasn't finished before that, the description was missing etc. It might return later.

When did you guys purchase yours?

When the controller & link were made available for early-release pre-order, there was a meter that said how much pre-order inventory was left. I ordered my controller & link when the meter was about 35% full. I think it was the day of the initial pre-order reveal, or the day after.

Has anyone who ordered through game in the UK received shipping notification yet? I ordered within hours of it going on sale and have not received anything yet.

I ordered within minutes - still nothing. It just says unshipped. There isn't even a statement of delivery estimate or that I am part of the initial batch. The only thing that points to that initial batch is that clicking the bundle in the order leads to a page not found error since they listed it as a different product to the rest going out in November. Chances are they will be pretty strict with it and post it out on the 14th or 15th for it to reach you on the 16th. Not likely to get it early like others

Just got my shipping email for my 2 controllers and my steam link. I live in Colorado (US).

For reference, I ordered within in minutes of the first hour that they were up.

Fedex is still updating, so I still don't know when exactly I will receive mine, but steam says my shipping date is the 16th.

Edit: Fedex updated. Mine are coming this saturday!!!!! So excited.

I'm also in colorado and got my fedex info, it's saying the 10th as the estimate right now (on the fedex tracking).

I am sure others will beat me to it, but when mine comes Saturday I will try to post some videos demoing it through the wired network in my house.

Sweet. That, and just how well this goofy controller works with some games. I'd love to replay SC:Blacklist on my tv upstairs, streaming from my PC downstairs. I want to give Valve my money...

I plan on using my link on my fucked up powerline adapter->wifi extender->router setup. Streams 1080p content to my roku just fine, so I'm hoping for the best.

I can't wait till these get into peoples hands

I've been going through a bunch of games in sequence, setting their controls. There are a lot more gamepad + mouse compatible games on steam than I thought.

Sorry if this has been asked already, but do you mean that if a game doesn't support gamepad+mouse at the same time, that the game can't use analog controls (e.g. for movement) and mouselook at the same time?

That's correct. But you can emulate it to a degree. For instance, if you move the stick up just a little it will send the W key but if you push the stick all way up it could send W + SPACE (or whetever key is used to run).

If that's what Turbo is, then yes. With the facebuttons you can only configure it for all 4 of them and not separately though. At least 8bit ot Woodsie, dunno which couldn't do that. You can also configure that for the triggers.

Weird that we can only configure it for the 4 face buttons at the same time. It would be good to play something like Final Fantasy VIII and use the turbo while summoning a GF.

We're both getting Saturday delivery in California. mynigga.gif

Yeah, although Krej posted this earlier so hopefully things will go well:

Good news - Valve is working with Konami about the gamepad/mouse wonk in MGSV and there might be a patch in the future from konami to fix the issue. They are working and talking with developers about the need to allow gamepads and mice to work concurrently.

To the best of my knowledge, Steam Link is still just 2.0 sound, though - as some of us have been discussing here.

Really wish Valve would figure out how to get 5.1 surround sound audio for Steam Link.

"Shipping soon", no estimated delivery date.

HURRY UP HURRY UP HURRY UP

(Got a Steam Link too because why not)

Yeah same here. Currently use Moonlight on the Fire Stick.

Sounds like the controller will handle loads of games easily. But are there any games which wont be doable? ie something like typing of the dead? Im just curious.

Typing of the Dead, in theory could be done using the on screen keyboard and touchpads, but I doubt it would be possible as you progress to harder difficulties. I don't think there are many games like that though

The onscreen keyboard only shows up for text boxes I believe. I can't even figure out how that would work on the screen when words pop up, your view would be at least partially obscured.

The popup keyboard still isn't implemented but it is supposed to be activated at any time using the back and guide buttons, rather than only available for text boxes

That's interesting I did not know the keyboard could be brought up anytime , but I think it would still be problematic with this game. I think you really need to focus on the words on the screen while your hands are on the keyboard completely away from the screen. Basically the game is a typing tutor.

Yeah. I assume there would have to be a way to move the keyboard around since there is no way for Steam to know where to put the thing, but even then that game has things going on everywhere so would just be a mess

If you could render Typing of the Dead on one monitor and the Steam Controller keyboard on another, then it might be possible to play. In fact, it might turn you into a Steam Controller touch-typist. :)

Possible but you would still have to take your eyes off one screen to look at another.

Also the keyboard is split into left the left half trackpad and right half trackpad. Your hand eye coordination would have to be off the charts. Would be amusing to see someone attempt it with the daisy wheel.
