Steam Summer Sale 2015 thread of refunding everything you buy (June 11-21)

As someone who last PC-gamed in a pre Steam era, I cannot get my head around people's complaints about pricing. Most of the games in the sale are cheap as dirt and people are still disappointed. How low do they have to go exactly before people are satisfied? You could buy enough good games to last until the next sale with very little money.

Yeah, I agree. This was a great sale for me personally. Picked up 10 great games for less than 50$.

This is seriously such bullshit. Them not going on deeper sale for a daily is fine, but it's awful that the previous owners loyalty discount isn't improved in such a way that it's actually beneficial.

seems to be a running joke with steam (similar issues with the DLCs of certain games)

Last Survivor and Crew Expendable, both let you play out sections of the original Alien movie as Ellen Ripley. The rest of the DLCs are survivor mode maps.

Are the survivor mode maps different than areas in the main game? I really liked the story mode, and I think I would like new areas with new objectives.

edit: looks like I have both LS and CE from the buying the base game. The others worth a season pass buy?

I don't know where to ask this, I'll try it here: the GOG Galaxy client, does it work like the Steam client? I want to start downloading a game and if it takes too long then I want to pause the download and continue another day....this doesn't work with regular browser download, anybody knows this?

Yes. You can pause and resume downloads in the GoG Galaxy client. You could also do it with the original GoG downloader.

Alright, thanks.

I can't remember, did Steam ever have back to back days of encores sales? This seems odd to me. I only ever remember the final day being an encore day.

I thought South Park was lower than 40% earlier... was that a flash and not a daily? Oh well.

Only other game I was really waiting on was Tabletop Simulator and I guess that's sitting at 33% still. I'll poke some friends to see if they want to split a four-pack.

My damage this sale:

Metro 2033 Redux
Gods Will Be Watching
Stranger's Wrath
The Escapists
The Fall
Rainbow Six 3 Gold
Grow Home
Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag
Old World Blues and Lonesome Road (have the other two)
Sniper Elite 3

Overall pretty satisfied with the sale, put a good dent in my wishlist.

I'm not sure if the maps are completely unique. If you're keen on the gameplay of Alien: Isolation they may be worth checking out. There isn't a great deal of story although you get to play as different characters along the way (it's mostly a load out thing).

That paltry 20% off for people who already own vanilla dark souls 2 smh!

Total fucking bullshit

Man, this has been the most disappointing Steam sale yet for me.

I was so ready to get some game like Unity, Dying Light, Ryse, REMake, Darks Souls SOTFC but none of them hit a respectable price point for me.

In the end I just ended up with:

- ORI
- Wolfenstein Old Blood
- Metro Redux
-MGS Ground Zeros
-Child of Light

Annoyed about Dark Souls II. They couldn't do better than $14 for those of us who bought the game (in my case twice for PS3 and PC) and the DLC? SotFS should have been a free update. I think I'm just going to hold out for a really good sale on PS4, since I'd rather have it on there anyway. By then, I'll be more likely to want to replay it and should be even more fresh with all the changes.

GAF please help!

I have about 16€ in my wallet. And since there will be no more new offers I'm hesitating which one to buy between these:

1.DMC Complete Pack 15.99€ - haven't played any DMC in long time
2.Fallout New Vegas Ultimate 6.79€ - never ever played any of Fallout games...
3.Dishonored GOTY 8.49€ - never played it, but I heard that's good game (I'm not a huge fan of stealth BTW)
4.Wolfenstein: The New Order 12.49€ - heard it's great and fun game to play, but I'm not sure if i should buy it because after this sale i have few FPS games in my backlog (Crysis 2, Far Cry 3, Metro Collection, DNF, HL2 Ep 2) already waiting to play
5.L.A. Noire Complete Edition 4.75€ - onl heard that's interesting, but I'm not sure if I'm detective type of guy...

I would go Fallout NV/Dishonored GOTY's or Fallout NV/Wolfenstein TNO. Either way that's a lot of great gaming for the money.

So, I've never played a 4X game before. I have both Age of Wonders III and Civ5, and I'm considering picking up Endless Legend as well, but the price is a little high and I've read that the game is very difficult to get into for those unfamiliar with the genre. Should I get the Age of Wonders III DLC and stick with that game first? Or can I get into Endless Legend without knowing too much about 4X and not be totally lost?

L.A. Noire disappointed me way back when it was originally released. An amazing concept with very poor execution.

Just bought Ryse and Hitman: Absolution. Been wanting to play both for a while... especially the former, so that I could 1) test out my R9 290 directcu ii and 2) to bask in Crytek's graphical glory.

Yeah I'm really disappointed I payed as much as I did for L.A. Noire. I don't think I even ended up finishing the game.

Any recommendations on which Assassin's Creeds I should buy? Never played any of them.

Want to get Black Flag but it's been cheaper on sales than $16 so I'm gonna hold off for now.

Didn't buy a thing

Was disappointed in the flash sales, seems like the bigger games got moved out of there

Kind of back to the bad old days where stuff like Dying Light is cheaper for me to buy a retail disc in a plastic box and have it delivered via vans trucks and maybe even a boat to my house than order it on Steam. Could probably get it delivered cheaper via a steam train and old steam car if I asked nicely.

I'd definitely go with Dishonored GOTY. And with the extra money in your wallet I'd choose Fallout New Vegas UE.

As for Dishonored, you don't necessarily need to love stealth in order to like it. It has a lot of lethal and non-stealth options that feels very well done. There are plenty of offensive weapons, gadgets and powers with lots of action. Just remember to stick with in in the case you don't like the beginning much. When I played it the first time, I didn't like it that much. Didn't really know "how" to play it, options felt a little overwhelming. Only halfway through did it really click with me and since then, I've played it more than 5 times and I love it more everything I play.

Bummer DS2 didn't get a deeper discount, but $25 isn't bad. Grabbed Outlast and Ori as well for the last of my haul

I want to get Scholars and I already have DS2. Does it make any difference whatsoever if I get the upgrade or the regular one? (atm the regular one is 1 pound less than the regular one, funnily enough)

Even with the refund system, I'm not sure if I'd pull the trigger with Wolfenstein. I'd hate to play a short, no-replay value game, or worse, that it runs like absolute shit in my PC.

In that case I'd wait for the Winter sale for the hell of it.

Has anyone bought Shovel Knight this sale? Does the PC port have problems, my game keeps playing in slow mo. I followed all the tricks I found online and it worked fine, but after dying once it went back to 30 fps. Any one know any other tricks?

Edit : Alt-tabbing out to post this and going back brought it back up to 60? I dunno...

Lego literally paying people to play their games.

I want to get the Euro Truck Simulator 2 expansion Scandinavia, it's £10.78.

But the Euro Truck Simulator 2 - Deluxe Bundle contains it and everything else ETS2 has (some DLC I have, some I don't) and it's listed at £11.55.

If I bought it would I really get everything else for just 77p more?

Wanted to snag Garry's Mod but it looks like it's been at a steeper discount before. I know it's only a $2.50 difference, but...still.

And thank god for that, or we would get tons of repeats like previous years.

That was best thing about this sale, that it's been the most diverse one in years, and no repeats AFAIK (except for encore of course).

Is there any chance CS GO will become cheaper by tomorrow?

No because of 2 reasons.

1. the sale is done
2. 50% is the highest discount it will get since Valve wants to reduce the chances of getting hackers and alts/smurfs in the community

So even if there is another sale 7.50 will be the lowest price you see until Valve decides otherwise.
