Steam Summer Sale 2015 thread of refunding everything you buy (June 11-21)

All of my games in the wishlist are slashed 50% and higher. This is my first steam sale... so this is how it feels to be a PC gamer. I'll hold off for now and follow sage GAF advice: buy when daily sale, wait when summer sale.

It's my first Steam sale too. PC Gaming... where have you been all my life?

Wow, was at level 11 when I was on earlier and just logged in and our group is level 69. Was it confirmed that 100 is the cap?

This new round of flash deals have saved/ruined the day for me. Checked out with KOF98/2K2 (got 'em on 360 but what the heck), Towerfall, and Sir You are Being Hunted.

And instead of going straight to installing & playing any of my new games, I launch Idle Master, lol.

Quick question. Would Valkyria Chronicles be able to run fine on my laptop? In terms of specs, it's a macbook from 2014 but I have windows 8 on it.

You've essentially told us nothing, but does it have a dedicated GPU?

So I was about to buy Dead Rising 3 when I noticed a fair amount of reviews saying the game is poorly optimized for PC. That genuinely worries me. Does anyone know if this stuff has been patched, or if people are overreacting maybe?

Not on daily anyways.

I don't even play Fighting Games that much, but the KoF Triple Pack is tempting me.

Same here. How is the single player content in those games? I doubt I'd really get a lot out the versus modes, but I might pick up the pack if there's a decent amount of solo content.

I saw all the sales today and decided to spend my money on Popeyes chicken instead

It was delicious

winner winner chicken dinner

I haven't bought anything today. I want to give a gift copy of M&M X to a friend but the discount on Steam today was comical vs. historic lows.

Borderlands the Pre-Sequel: 50% off. I'd love to buy this game, but do I wait for it to drop lower? Tales of the Borderlands is a daily deal at 50% off, so do you think that 50% is applying to the series, and the Pre-Sequel will drop to 25% later today? Or do you think 50% is the standard sale price for the other Borderlands games, and they're likely to drop to 75% or more later?

Nothing too crazy so far, but I'm picking up Ziggurat and Stranger's Wrath HD.

Hoping for some good prices on Dark Souls 2: Scholars of the First Sin, Wolfenstein: The New Order, Ironcast, and some others in the next week.

There's an easy test for if a sale is a daily or not. Check the store page for the game. If it says "SUMMER SALE! Offer ends June 22," then it is its normal sale price and likely to go lower later. If it says "DAILY DEAL! Offer ends in ____," then it's the kind you should jump on immediately if you're interested.

Mind blown. Thank you for this amazing tip! Tales of the Borderlands is a 50% Daily Deal, while the Pre-Sequel is a 50% Summer Sale. I'll keep waiting =)

If it's not a daily or flash, wait until it is. If it never is, buy it on the last day.

History suggests that Borderlands games will get a daily deal, so waiting is definitely the right call.

Is Monaco a good choice for someone who just wants to play it as a single player game? The more I read into it explains how great of a co-op game it is

I didn't enjoy it as a singleplayer game. It's certainly playable, but I could never shake the feeling that it's meant for multiplayer mayhem.

Is it worth getting both the Halo games on sale for $4.99 or wait til a future sale for them to go for a deeper discount?

Got Metro Redux Bundle and Valkyria Chronicles. Nothing else really interests me that much to be honest. I was expecting a steeper discount on Binding of Isaac though.

While certainly possible to make good headway alone, I found it to feel quite lacking and with poor pacing as a single player title. Not to say I didn't have fun, but it wasn't something I fell in love with like those who played it in multi-player.

Is the Halo twin stick shooter worth 2 dollars? Good enough for a podcast game?

A competent twin-stick, but I would recommend Renegade Ops over it unless you really want Halo settings.

Going to pick up the Metro Redux bundle for sure and maybe Valkyria Chronicles. I bought Valkyria Chronicles on the PS3 years ago but never got around to finishing it. The PC version is supposed to be the superior version correct?

Also keeping my eye on Grim Dawn and Scholar of the First Sin for larger discounts, though Scholar of the First Sin's upgrade path only has 20% discount where as the full game gets 50% off. Bit offensive to souls fans who bought in early.

So, I went ahead and applied for a refund for the $1.39 twin stick Halo shooter I played 3 minutes of.

It really wasn't a great 3 minutes.

I keep bouncing from Steam to GoG. So much backlog.

Hopefully this isn't old news.

Currently, the bottom-most image is the price in the US and Canada, but some of the GB users are reporting different prices in their locales (cheaper). Don't know what got into publishers this sale, but it's definitely a turn for the worse.

Edit: as per JaseC's post below, this is a false alarm. Phew!

"it is in giving that we receive"
Hey SteamGAF! It's been awhile since I've been around. Over the last year I had to find a new job, renovate our home and adopt twin babies. It's been fun!

But I think the Steam sale is a good time to check back in. It helps that a fellow GAFer recently helped me find a rare Amiibo, reigniting my appreciation for this place.

Just going to do one giveaway tonight. I love this series so this is a no-brainer.

Enjoy!

Black Flag's price hasn't changed. The first two images are from the AU store (the giveaway is the price ending with five cents as 5c coins are the smallest denomination here -- i.e. $x.95 is our $x.99). If you log out and click this link, you'll see that the base prices match.

So I haven't kept up with GTA 5 at all, can I actually do anything with these cards if I'm not planning on playing online? Are people excited due to the resale value of these cards?

Good to hear on all your good fortunate mate, we hope you come back to us over in the Community thread too.

Oh and try not to mix up those amiibos with the babies. Easy to do, but only one set comes with NFC.

My understanding is that people are upset about it because only the version with the cash card is discounted and not the standalone game.
