Stellar Blade debuts on Steam with over 192k CCU (best-performing single-player PlayStation Studios release)

Honestly I'm not even into the T&A aspect of it at all; the game is just really good.
A comment like this will have me checking it out at some point. I mean, lol T&A and all that, but I have an internal threshold before it becomes ridiculous to me, lol.
It isn't a coomer game, it's an action-adventure with questionable level design.
I know, I tease, but I do appreciate the honesty with that last bit, lmao.

:messenger_sunglasses: Exactly the content I like to see.

Edit: I did my part. I just bought the PC version on Steam despite owning the game already on my PS5 Pro. I need to send Sony the message that this is the kind of game I like seeing from them, not trash like Fairgame$ and Concord.

The highest Sony to Steam Late launch game ever as far as peak CCU goes and we still don't know the peak of Stellar Blade yet

Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart - 8k CCU
Final Fantasy VII Remake - 14k CCU
Final Fantasy XVI - 27K CCU
Spiderman 2 - 28k CCU
God of War Ragnarok - 35k CCU
The Last of Us 2 - 30k CCU
The Last of Us - 36k CCU
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth - 40k CCU
Horizon Forbidden West - 40k CCU
Horizon Zero Dawn - 56k CCU
Spiderman - 66k
God of War - 73k CCU
Ghost of Tsushima - 77k CCU - former highest Sony to Steam title holder and has now been dethroned by Stellar Blade
Stellar Blade - 86K CCU and still going

Keep in mind that Stellar Blade also cost 3 to 6 times lower budget than most of them besides Ratchet and Clank and GoT which only costed 81 million to around 60 million but still higher budget than some of those above that cost around 200 to 300 million budgets.

Stellar Blade is doing way beyond expectations with this CCU as a late launch game, a lower AAA budget game at around 50 million, and as a new franchise, and at full price even as a late launch title on Steam. So it's crazy how it's able to be this high. I first thought it'll be around Rebirths.
Poor Ratchet and Clank that was my favorite Sony game of the ones I picked up. Also Uncharted didnt even make the list :messenger_grinning_sweat:

"Go woke, go bro-err,top of the charts"
It's really kinda embarassing for the likes of Dragon Age and Assassin's Creed that a late port of a niche new IP somehow performs better than the latest >200M budget day one on PC releases of these long-running AAA franchises.

So damn impressive with the numbers Stellar Blade is getting, beating both Assassin Creed Shadows and Veilguard and those two

Each costed around 5 to 6 times the budget of Stellar Blade

Were day 1 launch games instead of late rerelease launch game. And day 1 launch usually gets a lot higher than late launches

Both are bigger more popular franchises as Stellar Blade is a new franchise

So Stellar Blade beating these two is insane. Glad we're seeing more of these new franchises being unexpectingly super successful like Wukong, Stellar Blade, and soon to be Tides of Anninaton early next year.

Same, also my favorite game from that list and the only one that could rival Stellar Blade for me there. Really wish it did well on Steam but at least it did good on PS5. I really wanted more Ratchet and Clank games faster instead of Spiderman and whatever else they're doing.

Uncharted at 10k so lower than all the others but still above Ratchet and Clank sadly lol.

:messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: Stellar Blade completely demolished Sony 1st party IP
Shu really found a treasure. This is still a Sony's win since they funded the project and publish the IP. Can wait for the sequel which might be a Ps6 launch game, but I hope its still on ps5. I hope too see more very based and none woke agenda pertaining to twisted gender ideology games from Sony's 1st and 2nd party.

yep, this is good, the contrast is staggering. the data will be sent directly to Sony's higher up, which character designs win, which one is rejected by gamers

These are the numbers I would have thought it'll get had it been a day 1 non PS5 exclusive title but definitely not as a late launch.

And looks like it won't break 100k for the moment until maybe much later or the weekends since it just went down from 99,980 to 99,935.

That's the beauty of an open market. Things work out on their own as long as people keep voting with their wallets.

That's why I'm not too worried about the agenda-focus in games right now. I believe it will waste few years of our gaming life, but things will eventually work out for the good automatically.

But it's developed by Shift Up and *just* produced by Sony.
Yes, but 'PlayStation Studios' doesn't really mean 'studios owned by Sony', it's the global division of SIE dedicated to oversee the production of SIE-published games all around the world.

Oh? Thanks for explaining! That's a pretty clever naming from Sony!

With all due respect (and I write this as a person who double dipped with SB), almost all games in that list except Stellar Blade are multi-million record launches on PS5 and most people basically played those games already before PC ports.

Stellar Blade was a success on a PS5 but far from smashing hit (it sold around 1.5 to 2 millions), plus users in China and Asia are naturally skewed to PC. And don't forget good DRM integration, Sony games usually available on Green Store day one.

Don't get me wrong, I'm quite happy for SB. But context matters.

I'm just curious, but how did Balatro do on Steam for consecutive users? Or another highly successful indie game? I don't actually know how to check.

Great post. The market in the end, typically decides what gets made. With rare exceptions of course.

Search for a game, click on it and then click on the 'Charts' section, and you will see three different numbers for; players right now, 24-hour peak and all-time peak.
Balatro had a peak of 43,905 CCU in January of this year.

I think there are 2 big reasons for that.
You are correct.but also it highlights that gamers fail to see good game without booba.
If this game had no costumes, it would probably sell way less

In my defense - I pre ordered the game based on trailers before we knew there are costumes to collect. It's just a great game with great combat, locations and it plays great. Costumes only elevate it. It's a fantastic incentive for side quests and exploration. And you are never tired of it. I've unlocked all costumes at least until yesterday :p

Google SteamDB then put the game name on the search and go to "Charts" Balatro reached 43k players.

They absolutely torpedoed their potential sales by catastrophic proportions partnering with Sony, they would have dwarfed this number if it'd released on PC during the marketing blitz and launch hype cycle. The game ran and looked like shit on base PS5.

This may be a stupid question, but is the actual game good? Or rather, is it great/exceptional? Or is it pretty standard for a 3rd-person action game, just with nice visuals?
