Super Best Friends Thread 17: I don't have Bloodborne or Monster Hunter... Uhh...

I really don't understand Pat's reluctance to heal, it makes no sense. The enemy is close to death, you have 13 blood vials, you're close to death but decide you're not going to heal.

Just started the latest Bloodborne episode and OH MY GOD JUST FUCKING HEAL YOU IDIOT! They have her down to a tiny bit of health and like 13 vials left but nope, let's just not heal because you might run out of vials even though it's trivial to get more. I just don't understand.

Other than that I'm really enjoying this playthrough just like the DS2 one. Yeah, Woolie could be faster and more aggressive but if that's the way he's playing then so be it. It should be obvious that they're going to miss stuff or do dumb shit in their first run especially since they're playing this together. I still like to see their genuine first reaction to new stuff so I don't really understand the hate this playthrough is getting. Nuzlocke was boring as shit and they weren't even that into it (Matt especially) and this is not that.

"I need more health!!!" - Patsworth

I must say, watching these fuck ups does make it more interesting. If they just did everything right it would just be a regular ol playthrough.

Wow they were so close to being able to one shot those spiders, shame there's no real way to raise damage by say 2-3 points in exchange for a fixed sum of blood echoes in this game

You must give up on all expectations. This lets play changed into a black comedy some time ago.

I like the playthrough because I just don't have the time or skill to git gud, so I am basically playing the game through them like the lazy sack of shit I am.

I don't remember exactly what the iron keep argument was about. They've argued angrily about upgrading stats a couple of times though

Woolie was complaining about Pat's advice being unhelpful, Pat gave him shit for taking his time and attacking the archers instead of running through the area, Pat kept saying super down to earth real talk like, "I'm the one doing all the commentary", that the LP was all Woolie's idea, and that if he couldn't handle the pressure he shouldn't have suggested it. Then Woolie died to Smelter Demon and they took a break before things escalated. It was great.

I loved Pat being super-surprised and maybe even slightly offended that Rom, the Vacuous Spider would bite someone. "He bit you. He bit you!" As if it was Iron Mike himself.

Then Woolie's speculation that a woman was eating her baby, and Pat's only response is "Awesome."

You don't even need to kill them. I beat Rom without killing a single spider.

BB episode 32 - Finally caught up and it was fine for the most part except for a few moments when they seemingly lose the ability to think properly. What the fuck was Pat thinking not finishing off that hunter? Just as he gets control back he basically gave it to Woolie. Why would they abandon so many Blood echoes? It did make me laugh when Woolie called Pat a coward. Pot calling the kettle etc
I don't really get calling Woolie a coward in this situation. He's never actually run away from a fight back to a lamp like Pat tried to. Pat just actually super backed down. Woolie at least backs down behind a tree and then goes to finish the kill.
I hope they just drop BB.

I know they won't, but I can dream.
No
Also, they've never been a group to play the cutting edge latest games, so I disagree with that part.

It's not about the fans being critical of the game, it's about being entertaining. That is the job of an LP group; either play the game flawlessly and provide interesting commentary (ENB, Plague sometimes), or be entertaining while you fuck up (GameGrumps, TwoSayinsPlay, Crit1kal).

But none of this really matters. They recorded the entire thing already, and I can only hope there's some godlike progress in one of these episodes that pushes the thing further along to conclusion. The fact they haven't even gotten to Rom yet means we're stuck with this thing for at least another couple of months at this rate.
They don't feel the need to play the latest games, but they at least know when they've been doing it like how they did lately since Bloodborne, Rev 2, GoT, LiS, and MK all happened.

I also don't feel like it needs to be those two extremes. I get enjoyment out of seeing their reactions to areas, enemy setups, or other dumb bullshit. I like to see people I like first reactions at a thing and get to see their opinion form a bit as well. That's the best thing I get from this playthrough probably and I really like that. Unless Pat plays ahead and fucks it all up.

I also hope they make some good progress eventually to pick up the pace. I enjoy the LP well enough, but I don't know if I could really enjoy another 2 months of it.
Thank you for providing legitimate criticism instead of complaining over minute details, and acknowledging the point where there's nothing that's gonna change.

I really just dropped it- same as I did with DS2. Although unlike where I have no interest in seeing someone play DS2, this is just suffering too hard. I don't think blind Souls LPs are smart.
I also don't see the point in never complaining or needing to acknowledge the point of nothing is going to change. If someone sees my post every weekday of a Bloodborne episode and takes that as me complaining then I'm sorry that it seemed that way. I'd like to think a lot of people know that a lot of the LP is already recorded at this point. I don't think that's going to stop us from talking about an episode or being slightly annoyed at how they handled a situation. It's just commenting on it and hoping they improve the next day. If I couldn't slightly complain about a Pat being a coward then I don't see the point of every commenting on these videos. People's actual criticism of "I don't like double blind LPs," will reach them, but it won't mean much of anything. They'll still finish the LP they're doing and then maybe for the future they won't do a double blind LP unless they're completely sure the game will work for it.

Edit- I see it as the same as complaining about some poor service or the rain or some other dumb thing I guess. Nothing will change, but it's all technically small talk anyway. I'm not going to there and be silent about some shitty service at a restaurant. I'll complain about it with the person I'm with if they're there because it's just a human thing to do. Do I expect change? Not exactly. I just talk about things because they're things that exist.

With this LP as well there's always the chance the complaining might catch up. It just depends if they didn't finish the game or not so they could sit there and soak in the criticism or complaints to beef up the newer parts.
So as someone who's never played a Sonic, watching Sonic Adventure, why is everybody so mad about Sonic 06 and Sonic Boom? They look like they're made from the same janky cloth to me.
If you stare at Sonic 06 for a little bit, it's pretty obvious how much more jank it is than Sonic Adventure. Do a little kick on a box over and over to float into the stratosphere. Sonic Boom is just boring/slow and happens to include a infinite jump glitch to make it a little more entertaining.
I would go back and keep up with DaS2, I just had several times where I had to stop watching, between awful individual episodes or comments actually ruining any enjoyment I had. BB being double blind exaggerates the faults, or maybe I just can't handle another DS2-esque thing.
I see SO much complaining over these LPs that it actually hurts my enjoyment, so I maybe assumed too much in that complaints were from people actually upset.
Again, I can't believe people are actually genuinely upset at the LPs. I don't know if that's just me projecting my thoughts on others, but I can't bring up any anger and actually type that into words. The most I get is some annoyance, maybe some temple rubbing, and sighs. I'd like to hope most people are the same here. Stuff may come off strong when seen in text form, but I know I at least don't have much bottled up or anything after typing out what I thought about an episode. It's just my thoughts about an episode and then I move on. I don't see my stuff as complaining, but that's just me.

Edit- Major complaining I guess I should of said for the last bit as it would sound like I'm a hypocrite when reading my comments a little bit above where I say I'm complaining. Also you should stop letting comments effect your enjoyment. Here and the reddit are about the same with the reddit maybe being a little worse with hyperbole. The youtube is youtube. 4chan is I don't know what they're doing. I can't even begin to imagine what tumblr does with anything.

Yeah, didn't really get why he felt the need to conserve more vials. He goes on to unload like 10 bullets later for the equivalent of one hit so I don't really get the point. Also enjoying the game for the reactions mostly. I just like to see them see the shit I've seen so I can see what they felt as well. I also expect some nonsense since playing together and it being an LP. Will we get the true ending legit? Probably not just because it's an LP and they miss some shit. That's the nature of them. Nuzlocke was Nuzlocke. A lot of uninterest from them and a lot of uninterest from me.
If you just want them being kind of real talk/asshole/salt to each other there is some of that sprinkled in this playthrough. It can get mighty uncomfortable at times. It's not a ton, but there's a few moments.

This LP is definitely one of the best LPs they've done. This SA1 LP is everything I dreamed of and more.

I like how ED-209 can phase through a stone wall but can't get past a doorway.

I really wish Matt gave that story a chance. He just shat on it because "shitty sonic game" but it's actually a really great story.

Bloodborne Part 33- Pretty alright episode after Pat's frustrating unwant to use more blood vials when he had her on the ropes again. I don't know if it's considered cheese or not, but this is why I just fuckface all the enemy hunters to shoot them immediately when they attack. You either get a stagger or a chance to counter most of the time. I'm glad they killed Rom after killing all the spiders on their try. It's the situation where you first attempt is your best try and if you fail there you say fuck it. I imagine they would of gone balls to the wall and just gunned for Rom like most people if that happened. I just assumed they would keep respawning, but I guess you can actually whittle them all down. The fight made me much more on edge due to how they approached. That was pretty good for me at least. I didn't have a problem since it worked first try. He almost fucked it up at the finish line, but Fuckface pulled through.

"That's like Liam's unforgivable porn." The what now? The fuck did I miss or what lore did I forget? Also did Woolie just actually refer to that as the warrior's moon? Like as in the Ultimate Warrior and the power of the blood red moon? Did I just actually get a not completely obvious wrestling reference for once in my life before Pat mentioned Hulk Hogan?

That running back for a bonfire was pretty silly too. Had a good laugh at the hunter's mark returning them to the same location. At least they found Eileen by accident due to it. Not exhausting NPC dialogue though, fuckkk. More pumping of health too because nothing stops this VIT train with Pat the conductor. Dorks sold a weapon too because they were still in dialogue with her and unable to use the coldblood. Regular bloodstones sell for 200 each so that was extra silly.

I see some people online are butthurt about Matt and Woolie not giving e102 Gamma's story "the attention it deserves" in the SA1 LP.

It's not that great, people. It's just looks better in comparison to the shit show that is SA1. It doesn't help that the presentation is really fucking bad for a game that existed a couple of years after MGS1.

The LP is great IMO.

Matt is getting really insufferable in the Sonic Adventure playthrough. I don't even care about Sonic but it's getting hard to listen to him dump on everything about the game including things that are directly depicted in the game that he simply isn't paying attention to.

Can you blame him? The story is a boring, trodding mess to follow, especially if they take breaks between recordings.

I could understand the anger if this game wasn't a steaming pile of shit.

Jesus Christ, that 2 schools of thought joke. I just slowly slumped out of my chair and rolled over to rest my back on it. Hold up your hands to lend Liam your energy for more beautiful snipes.

Also the cutscene fucking clipped under the airship at 22:59. I can't. I also can't handle them talking about sonic comics. Shut up about Scourge, Liam.

Matt also confirmed on the reddit he was drinking during this episode. His drinking is going to tear this channel apart. I'm afraid for the day when he throws a bottle at the wall during an LP with Liam. Poor Liam.

Anyone know what week Plague might of spoiled with his streams and art? I don't see anything on the reddit about it at first glance. I guess it was for some Terminator Week because the new movie probably. I'm not sure if we really need a hype week for that, but we got one for TMNT, so why not, I guess.

Story was better than I expected, but I don't know if it really deserves a pat on the back or anything. Can't wait to see the conclusion on Saturday because I still don't understand anything in this game.

I'm a little worried about Matt drinking so much during these playthroughs. Dude sounds like he can't get through bad games on his own any more.

None of them can make through anything since Liam stole all of their gaming powers. Pies drugs and alcohol help them keep up with Vita-senpai.

I guess. I felt like it's been pervasive and meanspirited enough to put me off wanting to even come around the thread. It almost feels worse than DS2, but maybe that's because we've been here before.

Same here. Matt you don't need alcohol to be funny! Just be excited about dumb shit!
