Doesn't the animations feel good tho? The way you swing your sword feels really good. I would say the game is just below Guacamelee in terms of animation, but it is still a good game. Give it another shot.

Every time I get ready to buy the game on Steam, I look at the screenshots and the videos, and the art is repulsive.
