TEKKEN 7 |OT| How I killed your mother

Stagnating in green ranks.

I hope I can see my way out of this soon.

Sounds like you need efficient patterns that work without much effort to advance through these ranks....

Still haven't figure out one.

Details? So if your in green ranks who are you playing? What ar you doing? Without knowing your playstayle I say normally the difference between mediocre players intermediate skilled players is movement... Comeback to the movement.

Took my Xiaoyu online today.

This Tekken feels a lot more stiff than previous games. Combat feels like "I take my turn, now you take your turn."

Maybe that's because a lot of people are turtling and Xiaoyu excels against aggressive opponents. She doesn't really have the range to break a turtle.

Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuullll. In learning and leveling up Miguel I discovered u/b+1,4. Mid, low that's +9 on hit?

So dope. This game is so sick.

I am passive ,and I am not good at pressure or opening up players.

I play Katarina ,and, eventhough she's supposed to be easy, an effective gameplan with her seems to elude me.

It's a long, gruelling process. You have to be comfortable with losing for 100's of matches. And during those matches you only focus on properly maximizing on a certain skill. For example, when you play a Steve/Law player 100% of your mental energy should be spent only trying to low parry their junkyard strings. Even if you win or lose the main goal for that set is to train your muscle memory to be able to perform such actions in the clutch. You rinse and repeat that for numerous matchup specifics. Other examples are to only focus on properly ducking Bob's b+2 strings, properly punishing Long's mistrust, among so many other things people in that rank abuse. To break out of that plateau it really requires training and establishing muscle memory to not let other players abuse certain things and training your brain to always be able to take advantage of their disadvantages.

It's not you or Xia. I loaded up Tekken Tag 2 after playing 7 for a week and was like "holy shit, everything is happening so fast". Much more chaotic than 7, and to me, looser.

Thanks.

Maybe I need to set goals and focus on polishing specific rather than mashing to win.

These ranked battles are really showing me how flawed I am.

I don't like the way online tournaments show 5 stars on the search list, but then you get in and see that two of the people have 3 bars and one is barely at 2 bars. Is there no option from tournament hosts to limit by bars? If I see a network rating in the search list, I expect that to be a minimum network level or at least an average of all the players. Right now it seems that it only shows your connection to the host.

do you really need ewgf for punishing? I mean, max one sure, but when i was trying him out it seems like his normal punishes do a great deal even without electrics
some blocking punishes you can let go, getting pewf after blocking a -14 attack is weird and high risk but if you're not whiff punishing with ewgf then pick another character.

sad that once you rank one chacter to 1st dan, they all become first dan. Can't practice new characters anymore :(

*Fights against Kazuya player*

"Damn, this guy's electrics are on point. But I noticed he was pretty much doing the same stuff a lot of the time."

*loses*

"Oh well, guess I'll rematch."

*Beats him 6 times in a row*

"It's actually kind of incredible how he keeps falling for the same frame trap even tough he's gotten hit by it over 10 times now."

Sorry for the bother, but I'm still looking for an answer:

What's up with some of the endings for past games in the gallery? I'm new to Tekken but I'm pretty sure some of these old endings end before they're finished. Like Gun Jack's ending from 3 ends right at the mushroom cloud, but I know that there's about six more seconds to that ending. Same with Anna's, I think. Are these the normal endings and the longer versions had some special requirement? Bummed these aren't the full versions.

After

Ended a 16 win streak (meaning I was his first loss). I won the revenge match too, goddamn it feels good to play Tekken again!

If I had to put it in three things to focus on:

1) launchers (Know your launches and what to combo after you get one)
2) Ingore blocking the poke lows (Only lows to really worry about now are the knock-down lows, easier to see knock-down lows becuase they take start-up animation)
3) Movement, movement, and movement. (Tekken in its most basic form is make the other player whiff(Miss) and then punish with a launcher.

I thought Katarina didn't have a lot of safe options? That doesn't seem like an easy thing

Yeah, she doesn't get away with a lot of stuff that other characters might. Her good lows are also a major commitment since they're very slow.

But I feel like her CH game is also stronger than a lot of other characters. She's definitely a "make the most out of every opportunity" sort of character.

That is correct.
What I f*ng hate is that if the host leaves before the money and prizes are given, the tournament is cancelled and everyone gets nothing.
Many times I have won to only see that I got nothing, just a waste of time...

this is a really nitpicky thing but I don't like how the logo doesn't have the Japanese characters behind the English, like it always does.

Heeeey Xiaoyu players. After having a character crisis I think I've finally decided to just go back to using her.

I'm practicing Sample Combo 3, and I'm having a rather odd problem. It starts out with a 3 and then a ff + 3. But after I do the ff + 3, the computer gets knocked away too far for me to continue the combo. I've watched the demo several times and I just can't figure out what the reason is.

Just went and tried it out, the d3,4 hit no problem. When you hit the ff+3 are they actually getting picked off the ground or just pushed away? If they aren't being picked up you're timing the ff3 wrong.

Man doing this makes me want to main Ling again.

I remember that Gun Jack's full-ending in Tekken 3 could only be seen if you pressed Start to select him for Arcade mode instead of a Punch or Kick button.

I'd imagine they've just batch-copied the 'main' FMVs over and missed whatever little subfolder that full one was in.

Ahhh, I see what you mean now! You were right, I wasn't doing it fast enough and the computer wasn't being picked up. The timing feels pretty tight or my execution is sloppy. Thanks! I'll work on it.

If they get knocked away, you are doing it (ff3) too late.

Edit: Saw that you figured it out.
