Hopefully image is showing up. I'm on mobile so best I could do.

The higher back semi-hatch wagonish design. it's there. it looks really unbalanced and not sleek, aggressive nor sporty.

This is more what I had in mind.
I agree that that would be better. I suspect it's not imbalanced, though. Battery + electric motor changes the weight equation quite a bit.

I mean it's a 35k electric car... so it's going to be compromised somewhat. I think interior will be enhanced. Right now it seems like it's straight out of unfinished concept - don't see any vents or core instruments.

exterior wise, I am okay with it. functionality and practicality of carrying 5 people and large cargo and all. Just hope the option prices are reasonable - that top of the line would be somewhere around 45k max - but I have a feeling that it will easily reach 50k-55k...

Change for the sake of change is not good change. Having critical information in front of you, like SPEED, is important, you shouldn't be taking your eyes off the road in front of you to check how fact you are going. This thing better have a HUD system, which is likely does, but just goes to show you some information in front of you is better than in a dash center.

Maybe speed and other important information are projected onto the windshield in front of you ?

Musk said they were going to hold their cards close to their vest for some aspects of the car, hence the missing dashboard.

I think the profile looks great. Probably very close to the .20 drag coefficient they were shooting for.

The Model 3 needs to be as boring as possible so they can manufacture it without issues. Those falcon wing doors on the Model X have caused major headaches, I doubt Elon wants to deal with THAT again. Especially on the car that's going to make or break the company. Tesla's future is dependent on the Model 3 being a success.

Yeah i understand that. I was just expecting something different design wise. It looks alright apart from the interior. There is nothing in there apart from the wheel and screen. Hopefully this will change in the future.

Feature wise its pretty neat. 215 miles minimum is a decent effort. Another 100-150 miles on range in the future and electric cars really will be a game changer.

Yup..that's a Tesla..

Uyou guys who say it looks like a panamera is right on.

The red one looks like deadpool...

Looks like a hybrid of panamera and Ford fusion....

Lol I was thinking the same thing. Guaranteed people start making mods for it.

If you hunt around on fan Model S forums, you'll see that's already a thing.

The no grill thing doesn't bother me in the slightest, but I totally get the reactions that some have - it's a very out-of-the-ordinary look! People will become accustomed to soon enough, I'm sure, especially as more and more EVs hit the roads (though that may be a Blade Runner distant future)

Looks way better though, and it way more functional since the info is right in front of you, not centered. This look is coming to the C Class next year, which will compete directly with the 3 in price at around $35,000.

(sorry for the big pic!)

I agree with you, but the C class facelift will make it such that it will be in direct competition in price, which should scare Tesla when it comes to looks and bling. I'm a bit underwhelmed with the 3, to be honest, I was expecting it to be a bit more classy and it ended up a bit plain in my taste, but to each their own.

is there really that many people that are looking at a Mercedes and then at a Tesla? I feel like if your looking at a Tesla your doing so because its electric. Also the math on a Tesla at 35-40k is going to smoke cars that are even 10k less, when you factor in gas, servicing/oil changes/repairs etc.

This car realistically is comparing to the:

Audi A3
Mercedes CLA
Jaguar XE
Lexus IS

All of which are pretty good.

That being said, kudos for not making a boring car. Good stuff, bring the future and bring the competition

Even a regular 135i or 335i would be sufficient, Model 3 is not even a $15k design.

Eh lmao, nah. Its definitly a $25-35k car by shape. Now, its missing the aggressive indentations, shiny grills, and maybe the hard sheetmetal look to it, but that design is definitely $25k at minimum.

The more i think about, I think the A3 and the new Jaguar XE still have it pretty easily beat aesthetically when it comes to a 35k esque luxury sedan.

Actually the more i think about it, BMW might have it beat a little too. Though feature wise, if some of this stuff like autopilot and the technology are standard, it is clearly a better value.

Yeah, I'd rank it aesthetically speaking above the CLA and the IS. The TLX I am on the fence about.

Autopilot hardware is standard, not software

There's also no need for an electric car to make any noise whatsoever but I believe manufacturers have purposely needed to make the car playback operating noise because people alive today have been conditioned their entire lives to listen for the sound of an approaching vehicle to know to avoid it. The early electric cars were nearly running people over because they simply couldn't hear it coming and didn't know to be looking around for a car instead of listening for the distinctive sound of a ICE vehicle.

Plus its needed for blind pedestrians.

Very iffy about no "grille"... not like the car needs it, but it's what give cars a family resemblance/identity these days.

Hmm idk. Porsches manage to look amazing with no grill, lotus, any mid engined car really. Think they could of done a better job on it.

So what does that mean exactly?

You pay a fee one time to activate it. That's how it is for the Model S ($3,000). So all the cars have the capability, you just have to pay to unlock it.

Totally worth it though, that is the only add on I'll want most likely.

Even a regular 335i is still a $50,000+ executive sports sedan! Adjust your expectations my friend.

Given the huge potential for disaster here (see: every other all-electric car to date), the Model 3 looks about as good as one could reasonably expect.

The exterior looks weird, I want to see it with a plate.
And the interior must be unfinished.

Do we know technical details and/or price?
