If sony want to make their show better, then they're going to have to make a pretty huge announcement. If Sony can annlounce either a Kojima productions game, ZOE3, Team CO game or a FFVII remake then they could lessen the damage that the FFXIII announcement did.

Like I said way earlier, if you want big message-board/'political' fodder from Sony, you probably won't get it at E3. I don't think Sony particularly cares about beating MS on that this year - I think it's virtually impossible for them to do so. That's quite a different matter from the quality of their content showing, though.

IMO, MS set up a whole lame show on the middle,just for the last 3 min.

It just like I watched a slow/boring/hard-understanding movie but the plot totally twisted on the end.

None of us jump on other people just because they express a different opinion. And I haven't seen you doing anything apart from making fun of people here.

Hey, Sony deliberately made the first two years of PS3 hard so they could wazoom and wham bam the next 8 :lol

Gears of War 2 basically was the conference for me. After that demo walkthrough, I was too busy pulling my jaw up from the floor to really care about anything else. RE5's co-op announcement and official release date was also a nice touch. Fable 2 also looked pretty good. So Microsoft definitely had a strong showing, IMO. Of course some new games would have been appreciated, but i'm content with what was offered (especially since Gears of War 2 looks soooo damn amazing).

With that said, though, I'm really looking forward to seeing what Sony has up their sleeve. When is their conference again?

MS's press conference was average. If you read what everyone was saying up until the FFXIII announcement, you will see that everyone was saying that was one of the worst conferences ever.

Most journalist also agree that that the FFXIII move will shift focus from the weak press conference. why do you think they saved that for last.

the only thing that put sony in a really bad spot is the FFXIII announcement. everything else shown was a copy of something else or games we've already seen

Setting a twisted show on the end wouldn't hurt like if Sony deliberately fuck himself on its first two years. To be precise, MS lost nothing for that lame show.

Maybe sony really fuck himself on first two years,then it seems the war has changed .

I was not talking in terms of sales but in terms of established IP with good reputation. ZOE/ICO are not exactly system sellers but it's respected IP that many people would love to have. ICO, for example, is a good reason to own a Sony console and part of the reason why I bought PS3 apart from JRPGs.

and FF13 will only be released for the PS3 in Japan.....so what's the problem here?

Honestly...I know most of you are doing this just for fun...but there really are some poor souls out there strugging because of this (lol).

let's not play with their minds even more. Sony doesn't need to do anything to counter the lost of their FF13 exclusives because the game is still being released on their console.

The only thing they gotta do is just either have a PS3 be cheaper than a 360 by the time it's released i nthe state, or just get like a 6-12 month timed exclusive ahead of that.

By the time FF13 comes out, FF13Versus would already be done.

You're missing the point if you're referring to only Japan -- FFXIII is exclusive PS3 in Japan.

(1) You concede the show was lame
(2) We both agree that FFXIII was a megaton announcement
(3) I said that the show overall apart from the FFXIII announcement was boring (save GoW2)

So, we don't have to continue arguing; we're basically on the same page. MS brought the E3 conference to new lows with the Duffy performance though.
 
I guess I should make my point clearer. Those 3 don't have the impact like XIII has on the States/EU.

Only people on the internet have to make it sound important. Real sorry if I wasn't thinking straight,was too grouchy cause I'm hungry.
 
By the time FFXIII is released in the US and Europe, this generation will almost be over. Certainly long over the climax. Both HD consoles will be cheapb (150 dollars - 250 dollars), and the whole X360 vs. PS3 battle would have been decided and moot in relation to FFXIII.

People are certainly overreacting. Especially considering it's still exclusive in Japan and will come out long before other territories there.

No need to say PS3 has lost. More people will enjoy the game.

PS2 and PS1 didn't need FF to sell like they did, but rather the FF titles were great additions to their respective libraries.
 
This makes PERFECT business sense. In Japan, the 360 is like the red-headed step child... so Square leaves it PS3 exclusive. In NA and Europe, the userbase is more evenly split.

This is the ONLY thing that makes fiscal sense. The only real tragedy is that Tri-Ace appears to have been bought by MS with all of their currently announced games coming only for the 360... that is what throws the balance out of whack. Square did not sell out - they are just trying to survive in a very expensive industry.

Seriously though? Final Fantasy hit its peak with Final Fantasy VII in terms of sales; no Final Fantasy coming after it even comes close to touching its sales figures of 10 million units (http://na.square-enix.com/e306/titles/ccff7/). Final Fantasy probably ships a little more than Metal Gear worldwide.

You have a point, but the picture isn't that bleak if you're talking just sales.
 
I hope to see something from Trico and Heavy Rain. If they show multiplat titles Beyond good and Evil would be nice too. Maybe enemies and release date for LBP? Gameplay videos for GoW3? It could be a great show.

But please Sony, no prerendered trailers for games that will come out in 3 years.

Even though Sony had a hand in killing my beloved Sega ( outside of themselves), I kinda want them to blow people away so all of the annoying fanboys can go back to wherever they cam......I thinks it's called gamefaqs.
 
Is there any chance of seeing The Last Guy today or is that more of a TGS title? I would love to get some definite details on the game.
 
what does everyone reckon over the VersusXIII exclusivity?
i know they said it was just for the ps3, but with it being so early in development i really doubt they'll stick to their word
i'd much rather they did though, i remember they said something about not fully supporting just one console, and having a more even share this generation, it doesn't seem that way right now with the exclusives/timed exclusives and now multi-platform of FFXIII on the 360

I think it's just coming out in Japan first. Square games always come out in Japan first by a few months IIRC.

FFXII - 7 month lead in Japan over the US.
FFXI - almost a 2 year lead in Japan
FFX - 6 month lead
FFIX - 5 month lead

You get the drift. The bigger these games get. The more work it becomes to localize it. Unless they totally buck the trend, it will be released in JP first. That will give them several months to complete the translation and complete the 360 port. It probably will eventually get a 360 port in JP as well. Just many months later when it is less relevant to the area.

Anything can be turned into exclusive if a company wants to cough up the dough. See Tri-Ace. This is why it frustrates me that Sony won't do this for JRPGs but will do it for Haze of all things.

Uh, Squeenix didn't say that FFXIII Versus was "exclusive to PS3", they just said they weren't in a position to think about bringing it to the 360. And that's true because from what we know the Versus team is super-thin and it's not being actively worked on by a large production team now.

Expect Squee to follow the cash. No more exclusives save moneyhats.

Journos already saw/played it, coverage was just embargoed..so I doubt we'll have to wait until TGS to see it. E3 would make more sense.

Well, we didn't see EA pop up on Microsoft's stage, so why not have John Riccitiello introduce the Mass Effect 2 trailer at the Sony press conference? Or Rockstar's PS3 exclusive game?
 
I love how everyone acts like the console war will be over next year. The 360 is only barely half way into it's life and Wii, PS3 aren't even 2 years old yet. Also forgetting that last gen we had 3 main FF games and 2 MGS games. As if we won't see FF14 or MGS5 or GT6 or whatever in 2 or 3 years. As time goes on developers will make more profit from install bases growing and games selling more. Development will get cheaper. Consoles will get cheaper. Exclusives will be much more frequent. Yet people act like FFXIII is the end of the console war and we should all sell our PS3's.

just saw the inFamous gameplay, looks awsome, WAY better than Prototype at this stage.
