Not as far as I've seen. I made a full magical set, including weapons to go with them, but seeing as they're heavy armor I just took it back to Cyrodiil and stuck it in my armor collection. Admittedly, I didn't spend any time experimenting with it, but I figured it might've come in handy futher down the line. So far it seems I guessed wrong.

Other than the Golden Saint's armor (which I can't get), the only other thing I like is the Order Priest's robe/helmet. That's all sort of badass, so I took it. :D

Yeah, I instantly took the helmet as soon as I killed one of those guys and enchanted it.

i haven't bought SI yet, but after the latest patch everyone keeps telling me about an island in Niben Bay, and that you don't know what you'll find there. :lol

Sorry if this has been asked before guys, but I do have a quick question:

I downloaded Shivering Isles, and THEN I installed Knights of the Nine. I didn`t get the Knights of the Nine quest, but I DID get the Shivering Isles quest. How do I initiate the quests for Knights of the Nine?

You gotta talk to some people about particular goings on near the Anvil church...some figures should have it as a dialog option.

Just plowed my way through the Mage's Guild recomendations. Amazing what having a +15 fire bow and +15 fire Elven claymore does for bringing the difficulty back on track. :lol

I saw my first Cyrodiil snowfall tonight. I was up in the mountains exploring, went inside a building, and when I came out, it was a white blanket falling from the sky. With the gentle yet epic music, the scene was beauteeful.

I'm a master of heavy armor and sorely disappointed that the Madness armor is not any better than the Crusader set from KotN. I might as well keep on my Crusader set for the bonuses :(

You need to find items called Matrixes in dungeons, and the weapon makers will enchant the armor. For example, "Madness Boots Matrix" will be combined with the ore to make an enchanted set of boots. Ditto for Amber, which is what my chick is using. There seems to be one out there for each piece of armor.

Those are exactly the kind of moments that make me love Oblivion. Similar moments for me were for instance exiting the sewers and looking at the imperial city from miles away during sunrise.

Ok... moral dilemma here.

I'm at the part of the main quest in Shivering Isles where I have to pick a side
between the Golden Saints and Dark Seducers.

My character, being a Holy Knight, should obviously align with the forces of light... but before I make that decision, I'm curious. Up to this point, the
Dark Seducers
have been friendly and will even help me out along the road if I'm in trouble. Will they suddenly turn hostile towards me if I choose to help the
Saints
in battle and light the flame?

they will turn hostile to you only in that area for that specific quest for the flame. I helped the saints light the flame, but when I went back to New Sheoth, the dark seducers didn't act any different to me.

Yea, I'm using the Perfect Madness Armor (made from the Matrices), but in comparison with the chest piece; Madness has +10 Strength while the the KotN chest has the same armor value but with +8 to restoration and destruction, a lesser power, and a set bonus (+5% shield). So it seems like the Madness armor isn't as useful in comparison.

Someone had said a couple pages back that there wasn't any permanent storage in SI, but there's actually quite a bit. There's no house to buy but those big stone chests or urns you find outside (not in dungeons!) are safe, so just find a camp with one around and use that. I don't know if you ever get to use the Duke or Dutchess' quarters, but the containers in those are also safe.

See, told ya Ghaleon :p
Not all chests are auto-respawn ;)
Anyway, it rocks that there is safe storage in Shivering Isles. Makes me want to get it that much more. Monday will probably be when I get it, otherwise, tuesday.

I've stored stuff in chests in the main game that stayed for a few weeks, then disappeared. So I'm paranoid.

Besides, I'm only level 11 and already lug around over 300 pounds now so stuff isn't an issue. Those burly she-males on the cover of muscle mags? That's me.

Yeah, I really dont trust my belongings in any chests that are not part of a house that I do not own. It does suck though traveling back to cyrodiil to drop stuff off.

Question: There's a quest where a woman wants me to collect a list of ingredients. She gives me a list, oh, about seventy five items long. I've dropped stuff off to her in three batches, and a HUGE list of stuff checked off accross the top of the screen. But I didn't get a quest update with what I gave her, she won't tell me what I gave her, and the item list doesn't check off what I gave her. So I don't know what I need to find; I don't know if I'm one item short or 30. Am I missing something or does the game really not track the list of what I still need?

He's a question for you, I know food respawns but what about the silverware? say I go into a castle and mess up the the buffet table knocking all the food and tableware(bowls, plates) on the ground will the table "Reset" itself or just the food?

After a certain amount of time any items that are thrown around will be reset, including tableware.

Is it out? Does version 1.2 support SI? I was reading release notes, and didn't see that.

This is kind of hack. Bethesda should have officially provided storage. But I might use it. :D Could you specify exact location of one of these storage? Thx. It's better than traveling to Cyrodiil just to drop loot.

Yeah, there's a new version out that works with SI.

I'm looking at it again, and there seems to be a mix of static and respawning chests everywhere, so hold off on using any random one you find. Most of them just say "wilderness" for their location, so it's hard to say exactly where they are, but these I can confirm are non-respawning:

Xedilian, under the bridge
Xaselm, next to a stone chair
Howling Halls, on top of the entrance
BloodBay Camp on the platform
A half buried Urn hidden under a broken crate in Crucible (on a ledge to the right when you enter the city)

question, I had a 3000 gold bounty on me, didn't want to pay so I killed to dark seducers, now it's 5000 gold.

do I have to pay to get back into the city?
jail isn't an option because I want to keep my items.

Just go to jail, it's a dungeon. If you clear the dungeon, you can get all of your stuff back.

I guess these are enough. I haven't explored all of Isles so don't want to know all names yet. :)

It's not fixed dungeon. Right? If I clear it once, can I just run without killing anybody second time?

After exploring little bit, I did first quest in main quest line. Second part was good one. I like new sword too. Summoning is the easiest way to increase power.

Decided to get Shivering Isles since I got a 8800GTS a few days ago. Such is a hell of a jump from my 7600GT. I was playing Oblivion at 1024x768 (which looked kinda bad on my lcd monitor) with lots of stuff turned down and grass density set so low that grass look like random bushes. Now it's like 1280x1028 with everything maxed and anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering (the latter making the biggest image quality improvement), and it still runs at a faster frame rate :lol

What kind of gig are you running it on? I'm stuck with an ancient 2.53 pentium with 1GB Ram and 9700 Pro, but thinking about upgrading to a decent card... if it'll make much difference on my system.

Athlon X2 3800+, that would probably be considered the minimum a person should go with for a 8800. Also, you mention 9700 Pro, which means you have an AGP system. There are no AGP 8800 cards. There possibly may be a 8600 AGP card coming out, that should give you a nice boost if and when it does come out.

Looks like I encountered my first glitch in SI. It is about quest related to fork.

Big Head who lives in Bliss gave me the quest of finding some kind of fork. Quest is called 'The Fork Of Horripilation'. I didn't start it. I was doing other quests. That dude was messing around with other people after I talked to him, and two golden saint guards kill him. I got an update saying he is killed so I can't return fork to him. Quest completed.

Ran into that Quest a few days back and noticed the same thing. Because of it I just stopped that aspect completely after the first 2 groups of dropoffs and went to her other Quest (the beastiary). That's a HUGE oversight and the only "wtf?" Quest I've ran into.

I didn't even get to do that Quest. I don't know what the hell he did, but the very first day I came to town he was killed right infront of me by local townsfolk and a couple Golden Saints. All with no provocation from me at all... I just stepped through the door and carnage!

Best first impression of a town, ever.

Well I played Oblivion for the first time ever, so here are some opinions/questions.

Opinion: It's like a fantasy GTA, except doesn't have the suck GTA has. Very cool. My only 3 complaints are I hate the character artstyle, it's almost too much to do for a single player game and I don't like that EVERYTHING levels up with you. It should be just the hardcore characters (captain of the guards, counts, big monsters, etc). Not when some merchant or some rat levels up along with you.

Now to the more important stuff, questions...

What happens if you fail a quest (I haven't done in yet). For example, I have this quest to find out the origin of the grey prince, and I have another quest where I'm going to kill him. If I kill him, does it just cancel the other quest or does it leave it open?

Does time matter at all in this game? I mean as in are any quests time sensitive?

Time doesn't matter for any quest (IIRC). The NPC might say 'this needs doing right away', but you can leave it for days or indefinately.

In the case where an NPC can be killed or quests cross (like the Grey Prince), killing him will cancel the other quest, there will be a pop-up notice of this in most cases (it isn't very often that this can happen so don't worry). Some NPC's cannot be killed (only knocked unconscious), where others can be killed.

One important example might be in the main quest
when the big Oblivion gate opens near Bruma, and you have to help defend Martin in the big battle - that cuts the main quests off completely, so make sure you save your game before this battle as it can take a few tries to save him from being killed in the carnage
.

Other than that, I can't think of any other quests which have an immediate time limit or other factor which can inhibit a quest line (I think one of the Oblivion gates has a time limit).

You can't actually fail a quest. You either don't finish it or you complete it via one of the branched resolution. In that specific case: You need to find the origin so you can tell the Prince your findings. If he's dead, then there's obviously no one to tell those findings to.

Does time matter at all in this game? I mean as in are any quests time sensitive?
Nope.

Hey guys. In Shivering Isles, I just thrown in "jail."
After being thrown in the dungeon, you lose all your stuff, and have to fight your way out. Once you get out, how do you get your stuff back?? I had some really sweet armor from quests, so I can't really duplicate it. Is it gone forever?

It's in an urn or chest right before you exit the dungeon.

You should get a message that says, "All of your belongings are returned" or something to that effect, not an actual item list.

Gotcha. I reloaded a save, but next time I'm in the dungeon, I'll keep my eyes peeled for it.

Has anyone gone hunting for amber or madness ore for either of the armor sets? REALLY REALLY beautiful armor.

I had a full suit of Amber armor until just a bit ago. Very cool stuff. There's enough Amber around that I can create replacements with a higher rating now that I'm higher level, too. Comes in handy. Just got a new set out of a
crystal chest by using one of those hearts
that's enchanted with defense against magic. Just learned how to kill the damn mages near the oblisks. I owe one of those bastards some payback. :lol

I've been collecting them but haven't got any armor yet. Is there anything special about it except beautiful look? Any special power?
