It's contributing. An issue I don't have on a retina iPhone or Retina iPad. Only difference here is the screen.
While I'm used to non retina screens, I don't think it's supposed to give you headaches.

I think the whole retina argument is bullshit, most of us have to deal with low-res products one time or another and have handled it fine in the past. The fact that a low-res screen puts you off when 5 years ago people were happy with 480x320 is laughable, it's just a matter of adjustment.
The only place you will notice retina are:
Hd movies
And zooming into pictures
I'm happy with resolution, any bigger and it would be a strain on the A5 chip.
Picked up a mini for the gf today, she's asking how the camera compares to the one in her iPhone 4S. What's the answer?

In fact, its color tone and low light performance was better than what I've seen on many newer smartphones. It was sometimes difficult to get a clean image due to shakiness, but that has more to do with the odd physicality of taking a photo with a tablet than it does with the actual camera.

I suppose you'd happily go back to watching movies on VHS too
Wtf"shut up bitch take yr ipad mini i gotchu and be easy"

Sorry I'm not a pixel peeper who refuses to buy a product because he can't zoom way into the text and appreciate the 'smoothness'.
Kill me that after all these years they can't even be bothered to give us a choice to have it that way.
Truth. In my eyes, 4x5 looks downright sparse on a screen as big as the iPad and even the iPad mini. I use a 5x6 on my jailbroken iPad 3 which seems to be about the perfect density for the screen size. Still, everyone has different tastes, and it's a little ridiculous we've gone this long without them giving us such a simple option.
I don't remember where I got it, but here's a link to the file on my dropbox account. If anyone knows where it's from originally and can attribute it properly please do!

I was going to say brightness can have a big impact on eye strain (along with ambient light). One question about that, how dim does the mini's screen get? The iPad 3 could get a lot dimmer than 2 (which itself could get a little dimmer than the first).I was never comfortable reading in the dark with any ipad. even on the retina screen, it's the backlighting that gets me (even at 25%)
heck, I have a kobo glo with that, soft nice front light and I still much prefer turning on my nightstand reading light to make things easier on my eyes.
I don't know if resolution alone is enough to start headaches for most people but the backlighting (in a totally dark room) and slightly blurry text combo could.
I just sold my iPad 3 to a relative; thinking that I no longer needed one since I got my Air, but I am seriously considering buying a mini. Are these thoughts crazy or should I really consider it?
Also: has anyone used Edge magazine (Newsstand) on the mini yet? And how is it?

Where? So will it should be possible to reserve one for pickup tonight or tomorrow, correct?
already own an ipad 3 and iphone 5, and I'm considering buying this and replacing my ipad 3.
stupid tech lust

So I just go on apple.com at 10pm (or later), and order a 16gb for in-store pickup and I'm good to go for tomorrow? On the official site they're opening up reservations updated nightly at 10pm.
Lighter, smaller but with the same display real estate in practical terms. Cheaper. And some gravy on top of that. Why this over a 4?
Does the mini do panoramographs?
Not with the stock camera app.
What are you all doing for watching youtube vids since the app is gone on ipad, I've been using the YouTube web app but it's garbage.

Thanks, by the way, for answering my questions
When I go on the site I cannot find any in-store pickup options. It only directs me to fill out shipping information.Yes. I ordered a white 32gb last night - walked in on Sunday morning and picked it up right away (assuming the store near you has it available).
Almost caused a ruckus too. Was walking out and a woman was told they are sold out and the woman turns to me and goes, 'He has one!'. I just kept walking
This is why I don't really care for the "wait till next gen!" thinking (at least if the product is good enough that is). Sure I could wait for another year (or more if the next one isn't as hoped), or I could use it for the next year and flip it for a nice chunk of the next one when the time comes. The good thing about Apple products is the resale value. Might be ridiculous under most circumstances to be buying and selling these devices, but they keep their value pretty well.
I use Jasmine but I imagine there's probably quite a few more by now.Not with the stock camera app.

EDIT: I'll just wait to give it a try at 10pm. I appreciate the help.
Shows up as greyed out option on the last page before the "check out now" button.
The pickup at location option should become available when it gets closer to 10. It did the same for iPhone 5
Ah, I see it now. Unavailable everywhere except forNot sure, but I'd guess it will vary by location/stock. I read this morning that they'd be implementing the same reservation system they used in the past for iPhones etc. starting tonight.

A few Best Buys near me had the 64GB version available. However I can barely get myself to spend $330 -- let alone $430 or $530.We were able to walk in right as the local Apple store opened and get one today. They had everything but 16gb, not surprisingly they are the first to sell out.
