The Last Guardian |OT| In my memories, the monster always has kind eyes

genDESIGN's Twitter has been sharing 'Trico Secrets'. I didn't realize you could pet away his wounds/ruffled feathers, or if you pet him long enough in an open area,
he'll fall asleep.

Ermmm, near the end spoilers,
big black ball of goo, you're meant to shrink it then climb the cage right? It's coming back to life in like a second for me though :/

It's finicky. Just trial and error the amount til you find you have enough time to climb the cage.

Sorry to be one of those people..

I'm currently climbing
around the outside of what looks like a frozen castle? Jumping over very scarily placed platforms in mid air. Trico has stopped somewhere behind me because of two more of those eyes.
How far am I into it?

About
65-70%
.

I don't know at all where I am within the game, but my favorite parts so far are Trico, who I fucking love and who reminds me of dogs that I've known, and when I'm rewarded with puzzling out how to leave an area only to get into the next area with a nigh-impenetrable wall, and the solution is simply to climb on Trico and let him leap his way out of it. Being on Trico when he launches into the air to clear a wall or other structure is a real rush.

when using the shield to shrink the ball, make sure it doesn't go all the way in to the master. Stop and jump towards the cage before it glows and spews out those glyphs

I'm past the section with the cages
(where you trapped in one and had to roll it to move)
. Had to be one of the worst ideas ever, did they even test it? What a nightmare it was to move it around.

I like the game a lot but it's really hard to ignore the issue the controls, camera, framerate and Trico have. Controls are laggy as hell, camera is just a nightmare, framerate all over the place and trying to make Trico to do something is just not a good experience for me. Many times I had to restart checkpoints to make him actually listen and do what I want. I don't know if he glitches out or not but a few section in the game took a few 10 minutes restarts to actually make him listen to me.

I will probably beat it few more times after I'm done with this playthrough but I really hope they can patch some of that stuff that goes into your way in a game that is otherwise an amazing experience.

Quick question: are you suspending/resuming the game from Rest Mode on your ps4, or are you fully shutting down the console in between play sessions? Also, are you playing for hours at a stretch?

I ask because myself and others are looking into causes of the performance issues that some experience more than others.

On my second hour. Wonderous game so far. I love the spacious feeling he is able to create. And the sense of peace. I can spend minutes just looking at Trico. Astonishing.

Most games are just entertaining distractions. This one actually leaves me feeling elevated, like I'm a better person somehow for having played it.

The camera is annoying sometimes, that's the only ding I'd give it. Otherwise, it's a beautiful game. Kudos to Sony for having faith in it, despite all the struggles.

Just completed it. Adored the ending in every way. I'm not gonna pretend that the issues with camera/controls and Trico's temperament didn't sour me on the game a bit but the positive aspects are just too damn powerful to overcome. One of my favourite games of the year when all is said and done.

And with that, The Last Guardian is finished. What a frustrating, glorious experience. In the end.. this is my game of the year for sure.

I know you've been trying to correlate information at the moment, but it absolutely would be fascinating and unfortunate to see how many people have problems with framerate/Trico had their PS4 in rest mode. Exploring the world alongside Trico has been such a straightforward and delightful experience for me, I genuinely feel like I'm experiencing a different game that a lot of players/reviewers. He's so responsive, I'm still really surprised how easy it has been. I always switch my PS4 off after playing TLG, so I'll have to leave it in rest mode and experiment.

I finished up my second run earlier today from rest mode. Framerate started to stutter badly. Restarted the application and it fixed it. I was near the end sections. Running on a Pro, btw.

I always completely shut down my PS4 so no suspend mode for me. And it's usually 3/4 hours sessions with the game. I would probably finish it already but I take my time going everywhere, checking everything, looking for things that don't exist lol I'm on regular PS4 btw.

Hmm another Japan Studio game with issues from running too long without restarting.

I do hope that there is a hidden/secret area in the game ala the Hidden Garden atop the the huge building you always return to. Wasn't easy getting there either, that was a crazy climb that needed a near fully upgraded grip meter to reach without cutting it close in parts.

HStallion

Is this true? I completed the game with some lengthy sessions, two of them were nearly 3 hours long and I didn't notice anything.

Bloodborne also had issues where bosses AI would get messed up and they'd be easier to beat. I think it happened to me when I was playing my first run through. Ebrietas was a cake walk for me and then I played it months later after some patches had alleviated the issue and she was no longer a cake walk lol

I never used the standby/rest option on Bloodborne. Soldiered it to the end lol

Probably among the top 2 most frustrating yet rewarding experiences of current-gen.

Roughly halfway through - or at least that is what I tell myself after about 5 or 6 hours. It's the most beautiful heartfelt controller jank I've ever had. Can only play in hour spurts because progress often feels RNG.

When Trico does something after I'm holding R1 and pressing buttons, I feel like those crazy people at the casino slot machines. You know when the screen flashes and then touch the screen in a certain place out of ritual thinking it actually had some effect on matching Mr. Cashman icons when it doesn't.

Not saying I don't believe you but I played it all in one long session (with breaks of leaving it on) and didn't have any issues.

Neither did I aside from some of the set pieces and one or two of the outside parts but it seems others did.

Take your time with the commands, even when Trico is doing what you ask it can take like ten or even twenty seconds, maybe even a bit longer to execute a command, especially jumps that require it to be in a very tight or specific spot to make it. If anything starts taking a long time it could be a bug screwing things up and might require a restart.

Just Beat The Last Guardian. What a beautiful game man. The performance and camera issues are my only gripe but emotionally this game had me captured from beginning to end. I LOVED IT. ❤️

Edit: I don't think I ever want to play this game again. The feeling I have right now is how I want to remember it.

Loving this game after my frustration yesterday.

Everything is going smoothly and Trico listens perfectly

Love the scenery too. God I hope we see more games by Ueda soon.

Anyone know how to get that barrel on the top of the arena area? It's in the room you get to after getting catapulted and behind a suit of armour. I know I have to get a helmet but the only ones I can find are from the ones you defeat on the lower floor. I tried catapulting them up there but they barely get off the ground. Is there a trick to it or am I just something missing something?

I dont want this to end. I feel like Im going too fast but I cant stop

also, as a sotc fan, im noticing something im sure others are too ;)

SEVEN YEARS.

I WAITED SEVEN YEARS FOR THIS.

THE GAMESTOP I PRE-ORDERED AT CLOSED. MY RECEIPT IS FADED. I HAD TWO PS3S AND A PS4 WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT. I HAVE MET THE WOMAN OF MY DREAMS IN THAT TIME. I HAVE ACCOMPLISHED MANY THINGS I AM PROUD OF IN THAT TIME. I HAVE WAITED SO LONG, SINCE THE MOMENT THAT SIXTEENTH COLOSSUS WENT DOWN, I HAVE WAITED, WITH ABATED BREATH, LONG KNOWN AS THE BIGGEST SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS FAN IN MANY FORUMS.

FRIENDS.

FAMILY.

LOVED ONES.

THE TIME. HAS. COME.

GODSPEED.

Edit: I went out and bought some expensive ass wine for this

That's exactly what I did for ICO and SotC and I don't regret it one bit. I'd sometimes rather remember things this way. Especially games that try to be this sort of ethereal, delicate story. I'm with you!

Oh god, i watched a bit of Dodger's stream tonight and if there's actually one part i would dislike about the game, while still adoring it over all, is the
underwater cave puzzle where you gotta have Trico drop his tail.

For me it was already by pure luck i got this working. But she had an even worse luck. It's such an unintuitive puzzle. And even when you find the solution, there's so much shit in the way of the tail to fall that you gotta wait just for the physics to finally kick in, unless the tail actually gets stuck

All the other puzzles I can complete now without trouble but this one is truely like a badly designed one if I had to be honest. It's the only one which gives you some bad cues and where the physics and mechanics just don't work properly.

Just finished the game. Admittedly I looked up whether Trico survives at the end or not immediately because I can't stand animal deaths
(thankfully he doesn't)
.

Appreciated the length of the game given that my last game was Dragon Quest VII (70 hours) and my next game is FFXV (probably at least 50 hours).

Shame about the technical stuff. Framerate is trash. Jank everywhere. Frustrating controls and Trico AI. Otherwise a fantastic game.

Yup. I did the same with ICO and SotC but TLG has captured me more emotionally than the other two. Just amazing.

I'm up to the part
where I fell into the water. How do I get Trico to drop his/her tail down? He/she is just looking at me through the hole.

First half of this game I was a bit sceptical, but I'm nearing the end and this is way better than Ico and is approaching SoC quality. Reviews did really good job underselling this game :)

Is my game glitched?

I'm at the part where
I'm stuck in a tree, with Trico below me. No matter how many times I call him or struggle, he will not fucking jump up to help me. I know what's supposed to happen, and he's not doing it. And the game won't even allow me to point him to where he's supposed to jump. I've been here for 30 minutes calling to him and struggling in the tree like an idiot.

Any help? Pls :(

I just placed the helmet on the catapult and it launches far enough.
It took a lot of attempts, but I got it eventually.
I had to move the catapult around a lot to get better angles.

How the hell do you remove the button prompts that are constantly popping up. They're getting annoying.

That hasn't bothered me, but this is the first game ever to make me feel nauseous after 20-30 minutes of play. Anyone else feeling that? The camera controls are ridiculously bad.

It's probably glitched and you may have to reload the checkpoint, but you may want to hold R1 and try face button signals.

Just got to the part where Trico
catapults you
. Man, that was cool.

Apart from the awesome puzzles, Trick can get a bit disgruntled. There were a few puzzles I had to look up because everything I was doing wasn't working (
the tree one and the water one)
. I get the negatives reviews, it can be very frustrating at times. However, not enough for me to dislike the game. The puzzles are really well done. The world is awesome. Tricia is great. We'll see how it pans out. I'm digging it.
