The Last of Us |OT| It Can’t Be For Nothing (Spoilers)

Doesn't metacritic have a rule where if a reviewer scores a game much below the average it can be taken off?

I'm looking at Quarter to Three average, and they have the highest percentage for lowest score given. On average he scores 10 points lower than the average metacritic reviewer.

I'm gonna try to email metacritic and see if that 6 can be taken off.

C'mon, son

I'm going by the Playstation Store.

"Please come back to the Playstation Store on PS3 any time after 12:01am (PST) on June 14th, 2013 to download your game and access the bonus Sight & Sounds Pack..."

Ah that sucks. Why would anyone wait three hours to d/l the game when you can just get it at retail.

I am trying to like this game but I can't so far there is no way this is a 10/10 game. Im about 26% in and it has been a drag. I don't care for the characters and obviously I don't care about their struggle. The opening sequence everybody said was so good didn't really have an effect on me so the subsequent events just seem like one big predictable apocalyptic melodrama.

The
Clicker sequences are by far the worst part of the game, they aren't suspenseful just boring. The only reason I don't want to die is because I really don't want to do the segment over not because I am terrified of them. I love stealth in games but its just boring here.

Overall from my previous 6.5 it has dropped to a 5/10. I hope it picks up but I honestly couldn't care less about the characters so ND have a hell of a job pulling me back round.

Also just to mention what is with the grainy filter? It does my head in, not forgetting the copious amounts of motion blur even when I move half an inch.

I'm sure Walmart will have it at 12am. Usually in my neighborhood the gaming section is always missing employees, I would have no problem finding one and telling him or her to go to the back and place the game on the shelf if it is not already there.

You might as well put the controller down Burgess. A 5/10? For real? That's grounds for stopping playtime immediately in my opinion. Shit, Colonial Marines is like a 6 to me.

Crysis 3 is a 5 though. Actually maybe a 4.

Ya, Colonial Marines is easily like a 6-ish after all the patches. If a 7 is average.

I live in the US. A 7 is average, because I'm too accustomed to the public education system of 70-79 is a C to think any differently.

Its boring I can't do anything about it. Ill try to finish it because I dont really have anything else to play but so far its not very impressive.

(not quoting, cause I dont want to see that spoiler)

Maybe this game just isnt for you. Many many people - from reviewers to other Gafters - obviously love this game, its narrative, and its gameplay.

As Neil Druckmann himself said:
"We honestly felt, because of some of themes and stuff we get into the game, we thought it would be much more polarizing and decisive. We knew some people would love it, and we thought a lot of people would hate it. And so far only a couple of people do."

Some of elements of the game can be polarizing. This is your opinion. I know I'm going to absolutely love this game. But it seems like it's not your type of game

Crysis 3 is extremely mediocre. It has like 2 good levels and then you can almost see a line where Crytek gave up making it. After the dam level is all downhill

Thinking if I should start on Normal or Hard. How Hard is Hard and what's the different in Difficulty based on, fellow GAFfers?

I know this may have been answered many times but I've been avoiding all places so I don't catch any spoilers. Thanks in advance.

Popular opinion seems to hold that Hard with no Listen Mode is the best way to play.

That's how I'm doing it, and I typically like to play games on Easy and abuse the fuuuuuuuck out of whatever the game's equivalent of Listen Mode is.

I practically let Tomb Raider play itself. :p The Last of Us is special, though. It deserves the special treatment.

I played the Demo from Start to Finish. Listen mode is something I will not use, didn't even used it on the demo. At all. Does Hard have more enemies or less ammo/Health/Items to craft?

I play all my games on hard. But from my understanding is that Hard is just less items to be found/scrounged for. Which is nice, I'd rather have that than bullet sponges, which is what most hard difficulties are, just artificially harder because they upped the enemy health. I know I'll play on Hard with x-ray mode turned off. Then, I'll start the Hardcore/Survival mode(I can't remember the name of the difficulty after hard)

Thank you fellow GAFfer, seems just right. If there are less things it means it's a more Survival experience and that is what the game is all about.

Tomb Raider played itself regardless anyway. "Oh we're going into a cave? well let me just force Lara to walk and crouch for you"

Anyone here work at walmart? Wondering if they might have copies of the Survival Edition if I go at midnight. It doesn't seem to be listed online.

I enjoyed Crysis 3, it wasn't perfect or close to the first game but it was fun. Thought the art was pretty incredible as well, I liked the last few levels. The one with all the water in particular. Turret hacking was the worst though. The multiplayer was pretty great though, spent like 7 hours playing Hunting mode.

Honestly though its your opinion I feel like so far the narrative is sub par. I haven't completed it so make of it what you will but there is absolutely no motivation for the player to want to move the story along.

I want to use Bioshock Infinite as an example, as soon as it starts you know the goal and what you have to do you are struck with interesting characters and a world too beautiful for its own good. TLOU says oh your in this apocalypse *opening spoilers*
but there is no point because your only possible motivation died 20 years ago
.

Honestly I want to enjoy it, as many of you have been around in the multiple threads I have been pretty active and pretty excited so im not just trolling.

Can i finish this in the weekend? I'm going to borrow my friends ps3 since my roommate toke his.

13 hours seems to be the low point, 18 the highest. Think one of the uses here that got every collectible and played on hard had 15 hours as total game time.

That game makes me sad

I had to stop playing by the time I became Rahetevvei9uamalon. I was dead bored.

The ship sequence and opening opera(?) sequence were great though. Everything went to shit after that in my opinion.

I still wont play Black Flag. I'm done with that series until it decides to do the ever popular re-boot (which I'd still be "meh" upon entering, which I'm sure is likely if this doesnt sell up to expectations (but why wouldn't it, right?)).

Parentheses ahoy, bitches

That game makes me sad

That game made me depressed. I hyped it so damn much, it was the perfect concept for what I love. Stealth killing in the wilderness and free running through trees. like how do you mess that up?

I don't normally say a game is flat out bad because I can usually find SOME enjoyment in them but man.... AC III *smh* had to force myself to finish it just so I could uninstall and never touch it again

Yep,same. I look at it and go "maybe it'll be cool?" and then decide no fuck that I'm not getting fooled again.

I absolutely love The American Revolution, but I won't buy AC3 for anything less than a $5 Steam sale.

And even then I will probably never play it.

But you know what they say...

Games like this only come around once in a generation. Assassin’s Creed III is a beautiful, sprawling adventure that proves to be one of the most, if not the most, ambitious titles ever created. Just when you think you have it figured out, an entirely new element is introduced that enriches it further, rendering it one of the least repetitive experiences to be had with a controller. An inspiring testament to what can be accomplished with unbridled devotion, it’s possible that nothing of this magnitude will ever be attempted again. No matter if you’re a fan of the series, or even the genre, Assassin’s Creed III must be experienced; it’s a truly definitive event that will be looked-back as a crucial step in gaming evolution.

Kind of wish someone make some other series that involves historical time periods.

I thought Bioshock Infinite had some poor narrative pacing in the middle and character's motivations were all over the place at some points, never was into the whole mother comstock thing... Still thought overall it was great for a video game and I'm predicting ill think the same of LOU. But long video games are always gonna suffer from this on some rate. So you don't find LOU's world beautiful?

What? In Bioshock Infinite your goal is to
escort your AI companion so you can repay your debt and you don't even know what that debt is about until the end of the game.
In TLOU your goal is to
escort your AI companion so you can develop a cure to save the world
. I'd say TLOU has a clearer goal than Infinite did.

Infinite is in my top five this gen though, jury still out on TLOU.

What don't you like about the characters?

Also, you don't have to stealth. You can choose to guns blazing if you want to.

I'm a history buff so exploring Revolution-era America was cool, the combat was fun, and I like the free running...but beyond that, AC has lost its way.

I'd probably get Black Flags eventually just to experience and explore the time period. But if I didn't know it was AC, I wouldn't have made the connection from watching the trailers.

What happened to being...an Assassin? You know, killing discretely and disappearing into the crowd? I feel like Ubisoft should just split the series into two: one primarily focused on stealth and Assassins and Templars, the other focused on recreating historical periods. I love that they create eras not usually seen in games

Although I'd kill to see an AC game set in feudal Japan (ninja Assassins against shogun Templars and their samurais!!!) as well as one set in Victorian London.

It definitely lost its way towards the last third but it wasn't long enough to spoil the experience. The thing is though I am already far enough through to want to finish the game TLOU makes me not want to play any further.

@DatDude

Its not that I dont like the characters its that I am not given a reason to like or care about them in anyway. The game tries to at the beginning but fails. I know what the game is trying to do
Its trying to draw the parallels between Ellie and his own daughter and im sure that comes to play further in but I dont care enough to want to get that far

Also I do sometimes go guns blazing that isn't an option against the clickers so im forced to do this boring walk really slowly until I get to the next objective, it isn't captivating.

Yeah I couldn't finish it. The mission were the most boring in any recent game I've played. Such a huge disappointment.
