For some reason I had a big laugh when I saw a Lego Speed Racer set appearing when all of the different universes were shown. I also hope the numbers of each block when seen through Master Builder vision are the actual serial numbers in real life.

I can't imagine the numbers weren't the right numbers. That's a joke only there for the die hards.

Batman is unable to read 3 seconds into the future.

The construction mech was badass, although the set for it isn't out until march.

For some reason I really liked lord business's transformation sequence.

Posted in most recent watched movie thread..

It was very impressive, looked so good and was plenty of substance too. Loads of little things I picked up on, and probably some I missed too. I do wish with movies like this though that all the companies and brands involved that have lego could drop it all and just be in the movie together.. like because DC characters are that makes marvel can't be it would be cool to see everyone together at once.

But yeah was awesome enjoyed it a lot! Wonder if I should pick up the game too...

I noticed earlier the game didn't get all the licenses the movie has, there's a character blurred out:

Did anybody catch who it is? I'm surprised at the amount of footage there is, when all is said and done it could easily amount to 15-20 minutes. Maybe even some of the twist, lol.

Think that MIGHT be Milhouse...

Ha, I think you're right! IIRC the big licenses were Milhouse there, Superman/Green Lantern and Michaelangelo in the middle, Gandalf and Dumbledore to the right. Doesn't bode well for Lego The Simpsons.

I would have stayed and watched it again if I could have. Both the wife and the kid loved it as well, my daughter remarked that I must have really enjoyed it, found it hilarious because I laughed out loud so many times :)

The Lego sets in the real world were cool as fuck, I've always wanted to do that. And Lando... hits the spot every time! My wife actually figured out that the Piece of Resistance was the glue cap before I did. Even the message didn't bother me, nor the Toy Story-like "twist". Similar but different and just as good if not better.

Can't wait for home release.

I loved the Superman/GL relationship. More so because they were voiced by Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill.

:0

I need the construction mech.

Damn this movie hit me right in the feels. I instantly got flashbacks to getting on my nephew for losing a minifig once.

Also: the Paul Leesh remover of Ny eel

Took my sister today for her birthday. She's turning 14. I think I enjoyed it more than her. Anyone watch it in 3D? How was it.

Worth it. The blocky nature makes the 3D look really nice, and I think helps showcase the detail they went into with the animation.

Amazing. Just saw it with my wife and two oldest boys. Ranks up there with my favorite animated movies of all time.

Are you sure that's a blurred out minifig? Things are being thrown at Emmit in this scene and it could just be a blurry object coming in from the foreground. Milhouse is very clearly visible in other shots.

Steam compression doesn't help, but it's definitely blurred specifically:

It was probably removing Milhouse from the trailers, as I don't believe he (or the Simpons sets at all) had been announced at the time they first aired, but I could be wrong.

EDIT: Oh, this is a shot from the game? Ah, no idea then unless there is some other licensing issue.

It's from the game, yeah. Can't imagine it was like that in the actual film, especially when it had close-ups and everything.

From what I gathered, I thought the live action Will Ferrell dad character built the city model for a work project or something and was mad when his son was playing with it because he didn't want anything messed with.

Was that the case or was he just a very anal AFOL?

He was just an AFOL that had lost his way.

The first 20-30 minutes were really strong, but then the story just got a bit I dunno, simple and boring. I feel like they should've aimed it at adults just a little more since kids would love it no matter what.

Any ways, it was solid over all, but man, talk about potential to make something much better.

I wish they did a few more epic large scale stuff, that stuff was a blast to look at.

I love when Emmet (sp?) basically comes back as Neo, being able to see the brick numbers, and becoming a true master builder. Was hilarious.

The running gag with the chairs was funny. My favorite was when he just hit he ejection seat in his car to get rid of the passenger seat cause he was pissed.
Oh man, I totally missed the ejection seat in his car.

But I cracked up in the theater when he started kicking the chair around in the street, because I thought it hadn't been there, which would mean the chair was ONLY there so he'd have something to kick around (and then throw in the air, with predictable and entertaining results).

Saw it this afternoon, guessed the twist early on. There was some obvious hints that a kid was actually controlling everything.

Also, I'm guessing the kid is also telekinetic? Because the entire worl is basically a story in his head while playing with his dad's Lego toys (Sorry, "Brick-based model system"), yet Emmet as a Lego mini-fig toy, actually starts to move on his dad's desk. That part I was like "What? Are they doing semi Toy Story now?"

He wasn't literally controlling it. The worlds are just parallel.

I really wish they had a Chase McCain cameo in the movie.

*edit* wow looks like we also got some further evidence of NO Simpsons LEGO game happening anytime soon... really bummed about that.

next movie better have disney/marvel characters in some form!

If Disney/WB could come together for Roger Rabbit (probably a lot more than that over the years, but that one stands out for me), they can surely make this happen as well.

I would agree Banks was the weakest voice in the cast. She just didn't seem to get into it like the others.

Morgan Freeman was brilliant as always, especially with his more humors lines.

Chris Pratt and Charlie Day both did great at their happy go lucky characters, Pratt even nailing the somber moments.

Will Arnett was a great choice for Batman, I don't think it would have been as funny had they tried to get Conroy.

Alison Brie was probably the highlight of the voice cast as Princess Unikitty. Nailing both the wacky parts and going full on feels with the destruction of her home.

Even the rest of the supporting cast with Metalbeard, Superman, Green Lantern and the Star Wars folks all did great (who wasn't happy to hear Billy Dee Williams out of nowhere).

You forgot Liam Neeson as the Bad/Good Cop.

Great movie, though I was taken aback with the inclusion of the real world thing.

I honestly thought Unikitty was played by Hyden Welch, VA for Princess Bubblegum and Starfire, kinda shocked to see she was played by Alison Brie. Also shocked to find that for most of the sound effects, instead of using a fancy sound effects team, the studi used just a guy for the sound effects. This has got to be the one of riskiest movies from Warner Bros ever!

Oh, Superman and Gandalf are playable in that game? Can you play as one or more of the Ninja Turtle characters? Guessing no? :(

I was hoping Michaelangelo would be playable, but unfortunately no dice. It's just DC/Warner's own licenses that made the cut.

Well yeah, the whole movie is supposed to be a kid playing with his toys. So he makes most of the unique sound effects (vehicles, etc).

I don't know if this movie was THAT big of a risk. Only a 60m budget and using one of the biggest toy brands ever, I don't think there was too big a risk of it bombing, even if it sucked.
