still no info for Saidaioujou Super LE item or did i miss it?

Nothing. Maybe some more artworks and a bigger form factor? Artbook looks the same for the LE/SLE. This pic surfaced a week or so ago. Looks like the standard LE is, yet again, a different form factor and size from all their other LEs. No consistency over the years:

Damn, I want that SLE art book. I'll just have to settle with my regular LE though.

Looks the same for both. Should know tomorrow as orders start arriving for people. I don't recall totally but I don't think any of the other LEs came with an artbook.

I kinda buy the LEs just out of habit. Most of the OSTs I've never even opened. The last thing I want to listen to is the music to these games. Great music but they get beaten to death by constant gameplay.

Could someone please explain the mechanics of Deathsmiles IIX's arrange mode? I donut understand.

I'll try to explain it but I'm bad at this, sorry. You want to get the counter at the bottom-left to 1000 and you want to do it quickly. What generates a quick 1000 is the red gems that occasionally pop out from enemies and each one is going to require something different. For example, if you use shot on the bats you'll generate them. It's sort of like DS1 in that regard.

Anyway when you hit 1000 you'll enter a powered-up state. Here you'll use the lock-on shot on enemies. When you use that and kill them you'll notice a bunch of red skulls spewing out bullets. You'll also notice your counter going down. What you want to do is cancel the bullets generated using the lock-on while also shooting down the red skulls which when killed bring out the red gems that refill your counter. The skulls track your positioning and can't be locked-on.

So basically you want to keep this up at all times. The powered-up state persists through levels if you've managed to keep it up during the boss and the game slows down to a crawl when all of this is happening so it's not too bad. In addition when powered-up I believe you become invincible to stage hazards so you don't necessarily have to worry about running into a wall or a ledge and lose a life. Could be wrong though, it's been awhile but last I remember this was the case.

There's a few other things like if you need to enter the powered-up state for bosses you point-blank them with shot and it'll spew out a ton of red gems fairly fast. I'd also suggest Lei as I feel like his lock-on stuff is a lot easier to deal with than any other character but that's just me.

Sorry if any of that sounds confusing!

Just placed my order for a standard Saidaioujou.

No, it's not your fancy LE or SLE or whatnot, but the fact that I am buying a game at full price at all is a testament to how much I adore these games.

Quick update from NCS regarding SDOJ:

The bulk of this week's new import shipments are scheduled to arrive on Friday but please note that since we're importing DoDonPachi: SaiDaiouJou Kan inventory from multiple vendors who are receiving their stock of the limited and ultra limited editions at different times, some of our import packages may not arrive until next Monday or Tuesday based on normal transit times from Tokyo to New York.

We'll process all preorders for the three versions of the game in the order that they were received from Friday of this week through Tuesday of next week as inventory arrives from overseas. If there are any shipment delays, we'll post another update. Due to the amount of preorders that we will be processing on Friday, we will begin submitting transactions for preorders on Thursday afternoon.

Although the normal limited edition of the game is currently marked 'Sold Out' on our shop, we expect to have surplus that is shipping from a new supplier on Friday of this week for new orders. Please wait for confirmation of availability but be advised that the price is expected to be higher. If you wish to be placed on a waiting list for the limited edition of the game, feel free to email us and we'll reserve a copy in your name as stock permits.

So basically, my AmiAmi LE (which has already shipped) will get here far quicker than my NCS SLE.

I will not lie, that cover was a big factor in opting for the LE over the Standard.

I know I've never gotten an artbook from a Cave LE, but I've only imported the region free ones. Also, aren't the included music CDs always remixes?

VOOT memorial?

first, I'm jealous, second, there's a VOOT Memorial box? I thought there was just a Force one...

You are right...I think it is the second title released of the three. Box is huge and filled with junk. CD are pretty extensive, though. It is just too big and I move a lot so it is starting to show some wear!

I think they are all remixes, except for the 5pb title which comes with a double-CD of straight soundtracks.

Yeah, that kinda sucks. I've always been okay with NCS' higher prices because of how fast they were, but this time they were both slower & more expensive than their competition. Oh well.

LOL. P-A has shipped my order (that's not the LOL part, that's the YAY part). FedEx tracking says it shipped today from Hong Kong and will be at my house (east coast USA) tomorrow.

I am somewhat skeptical about this delivery estimate. :

EDIT: I also forget there is a world outside the One True Time Zone. (but still...)

What sounds unreasonable about this? You should remember that tracking usually provides local time for where the tracking events occurred. Hong Kong is currently 12 hours ahead of the US east coast, so remember to adjust the event times accordingly.

Yep, Fedex goes to Alaska, then drops down to the east coast. Usually one or two days. Quick-like. And they be racing against time.

Meanwhile, I've still to pay my amiami order. Gotta wait till payday on friday :-( Shmups forum has pics of the SLE and it looks glorious...that old-sckool box. Already regret not going for it (and know I'll wind up going for it down the line.)

I thought about it, then the logical side of me took over and realized I'd look at the art book once then store it away, and I could use the rest of the money on other stuff (which has so far ended up being Muchi/Pink and contributing to new cab parts...and a bunch of XBLA points thanks to that $5/1200 deal).

I got over it too. I have no use for all the extras and the only reason I'd want it is for the resale value..

I just wanna play the game as well and I would rather be able to pay for my men's league hockey team and PDGA tourney both this weekend :O
might have some extra cash off on the side to snag raiden fighters aces (US) too which I've been eying for a few years.

Whooooo, the SLE has a color disc :D! Wonder if the RE still uses monochrome. If so, I'm glad I got the SLE; hate to lose consistency.

Didn't realize the box would be so large though 0_o. My plan's just to stick the steelbook inside the Shooting Collection and pack the rest away. Was hoping it was something I could just shelve...but I don't have anywhere nice to store that thing.

Wonder if this'll be my last Cave game ever. No doubt what I have will offer decades of entertainment, so if nothing else, thanks for making the 360 worth owning! What a strange console it's turned out to be.

PA is still showing "preparing" for me, but SDOJ in the list changed from having the preorder tag to within 1 week so I guess that's some progress. Might be related to Muchi/Pink being in the order since that's been listed as within 1 week for a while now.

YesAsia marked my LE as shipped, but since it's coming from Hong Kong I'll probably receive my copy last.

Interesting thing from Shmups' SDOJ thread:
—I'd like to ask a bit more in detail about each of those last three things you mentioned. Let's start with the team scoring mode... last time we talked you mentioned this would be a kind of team event?

Asada: That's right. We'll be dividing players into groups, and within a set time they'll compete with other teams for the best cumulative score. Microsoft has helped out on this a lot, and we actually had already begun working on it at our last interview. At first we thought about dividing the teams up based on prefectures, but the populations were too uneven, so instead people will be randomly assigned to a team among 5 to 6 blocks.

—How long will each scoring period last?

Asada: We haven't fully decided yet, but probably around 1-2 weeks. We want to give special prizes to the teams that win, like limited edition gamer icons... things you can only get through these events.

—Will these events be held at regular intervals?

Asada: Yes, as much as possible. Since its team scoring, anyone can contribute, even in a casual way. STG is a genre where the difference in skill is very apparent, so we wanted to do something to ameloriate that. And we'd also like to make a Cave Team. (laughs) Since our team would be so small, we'd multiply our scores by 10, but those teams which beat our scores would get special presents.
And uh, apparently Cave/MS fucked up the leaderboards or something (he said his actual score was way lower, not a counter stop issue), hopefully it's just a temporary/freak bug on the servers:

Maybe those people had the score fix option turned off? Weird. Guess not, if actual score was lower.

You edited, but I'll still quote you, what is this "score fix" I keep hearing about? I'm assuming it's a patch for a bug in the original PCB? If so, why would dudes not want it patched?

Score fix is only for the Arcade HD mode. It fixes a bug in the Arcade version in which the GP counter overflows to 99999999 (not sure how many 9s, but it's the max allowed) for a short period of time when you use a high level hyper near the end of Stage 5 (if you chain the whole stage perfectly before that), causing scores to balloon to the 1+ trillion range. Traditionalists will want to keep score fix "off" so they can compete on the same level as the arcade players.

But if the counter stops, how is the glitched score kept? I can understand if the scores are displayed (maybe using bugged out characters or some thing), but if everyone on the top players ranking tops out at 999999999999~ then they're all equal. Makes little sense, even from an arcade purity stand point.

We don't have "get out of jail free" cards, but if we did, she'd have one.

It's not a full score counterstop. Only the GP counter. Look at the red section in the upper-left corner of this video for an example.

Here is a video of a player who exploits the bug to drive their score from just under 3 billion to 1.2 trillion. (Would've linked it up top, but the quality is utter garbage so it's a lot harder to see what you're looking for.)

That issue is unrelated to this scoreboard thing. Also worth noting that scoreboard is only for the 360 mode with Saya. Has anyone else seen weird stuff in the leaderboards for the other modes? My copy only shipped today, so...

You know whats great about next gen? It drives down title prices on current gen.
Almost EVERY cave shmup thats region free is right around the 20-30 range now on Amazon where as around the holidays many were over $55+

Now if Caladrius drops down as well it will be a perfect world. Thanks next gen...now I can complete my collection this year affordably!

Caladrius will probably get a plat/discounted GoD this year anyways.

For the Cave releases, I don't think it has much to do with next gen. Just that there are a million different release versions out there.

Holy shit, the X360 mode where the two girls talk CONSTANTLY for the entire game...who wanted this lol Is there a way to turn the voices off? Otherwise I'm sticking to Arcade or muting.

Otherwise seems fun. First time turning on my X360 since the month Akai Katana came out in Japan ^^; Been a while since I played a Cave game so feeling pretty rusty. Are the gameplay systems pretty much the same as Daifukkatsu?

Though Sine Mora (for all its other faults) did this really well.

What shipping option did you go with? I got air economy so guessing it won't be near as fast as yours. Says it shipped though.

$15 fedex option. I haven't used the base air economy option in a while (since I had an order get stuck in customs) but I seem to remember it being about 5-7 business days, closer to 5. It used to be you could track your shipment via Hong Kong royal mail, don't know if you still can.
