Australia win, but what a game. Two overs away from the draw and all. Finally, Johnson bowls the right line to him. However, Graeme Smith did everything he could. Great end to one of the greatest series I've ever witnessed. The moments where Graeme Smith came out to bat, where Clarke made his first SCG century, where Duminy scored his first Test century, where Mitchell Johson got 8 wickets in a mesmerizing spell at Perth. All fantastic.

This series showed once more why Test series is so great.

I disagree with the choice of Clarke as man of the series, though. :lol Bring on the silly season (T20s) and the ODIs. Most of all, though, I can't wait for the return tour in South Africa. Might just purchase SelectTV or Foxtel to see that.

agreed, this series surely contrasts with australia's tour of india (except krazy's 8 wicket and conceding a double century). smithy picks up man of the series. well done champ

Graeme Smith Man-of-the-Series.

Very well deserved.

Yup can't argue with that. He's been fantastic with the bat but more importantly very good on field with decisions and rode his luck well.

Mistake on Clarke getting Man of the Series. Heals and Clarke must've gone over his chance at the title in their end-match interview.

Nice edit... was wondering where you pulled that Clarke man-of-the-series comment from. :lol

500k+ raised for the McGrath Foundation... another highlight of this test. Pidge has carried himself brilliantly over the past 5 days... couldn't have been easy on him.

Yeah, after all tail-enders and cripples for batsman are hard nuts to crack aren't they?

Our tail-enders gave them just as much grief. Its been an idiosyncrasy of this series, a very interesting one.

He's a real life Benjamin Button, guy looks younger and younger every time I see him.

The focus on the WAGs by the Channel Nine cameramen has been another underrated feature of this Test series.

Streaming the cricket I have to say the amount of shit Tony Grieg has been dishing up on the WAG's, namely Lara Bingle in the Supersport (South African broadcast) commentary, is downright scary.

Wasn't only the wags getting a good viewing in the coverage. A lot of good perving on random hotties everywhere.
The cameramen had a pretty good job of picking out and staying on chicks until the shot was needed.

Did he mention Lara's fling with a certain Carlton full-forward?

As a casual cricket fan, I have to say that the last part of that match was amazing. Usually I only leave it on in the background while I'm doing something else, but I was particularly gripped by the efforts of Steyn and Ntini, and later on of Smith. From the McDonald over onwards was spectacular. A dropped catch and the lbw straight after, the celebrations only to see Smith walking out to bat, even seeing Ntini not play at the ball was exciting. I know Australia deserved to win, but it would have been something to see the 11th batsman and a guy with a broken hand and elbow pull off a draw (even if it was for a match in a series that they had already won). To see it get down to the last two overs was just great.

Um probably, but when I could I avoided the Supersport commentary like the plague (Last thing I wanted to hear were the Saffers gloating). But he mentioned the story of Clarke buying her a very expensive ring and and I think a Benz or Royce worth half a mill, every chance he got. He also was going on how hot she was (Which a quick google check certainly confirmed).

Actually if memory serves me correct seeing pictures from last years Alan Boarder medals, Aussie team has some quite good talent.

Was anyone listening to the ABC broadcast? I watched the last 3 hours or so on 9 but i'm guessing Kerry's comments would have been pretty golden considering Makhaya batted for so long

KP went because the ECB didn't step into the row quick enough and Moores probably went because he was gonna get sacked sooner or later so now he can say he didn't get a fair shot.

So its more of a symbolic stand by KP.

I bet he'll be captain again in a week.

row involved the coach not selecting vaughan for the upcoming tour of west indies??? kp clearly not happy with that but main concern is that both ex captain and ex coach never got along that well in the first place.

For all the shit I have given Siddle for not performing well in his first few matches, I have to say that now he has really started to fit into the role nicely. A big bustling brute of a man who needs to get angry and bowl quick and at the stumps! Also, Ronald's medium pace didn't go too badly, be interesting to see how he goes with the bat again - the first innings was a comedy of errors.

One selection that needs to change quick smart....Hauritz. I mean, he is tidy enough, but his venomous deliveries are VERY few and far between. I'm sorry, but a spinner should be able to absolutely rip a delivery into a tail ender and put them in all sorts of strife. I think Hauritz maybe had Ntini in trouble twice? A tasty, flighted, Krejza pie would have been better I think.

Either way, a good win for 'The Boys', and it actually gives me a bit of optimism for the future, and getting some more younger blokes in. Hopefully Dave Warner gets a game in the T20, that guy is nuts!

While Hayden has been a stalwart for us even in the shorter form of the game (Remember him dominating the World Cup for us), can't say it comes as a huge surprise he's been dropped. I think more than ever the writing is on the wall especially given Hilditch seemingly not promising anything with regards to his position for tour of South Africa and Ashes.

What was the situation with Tait by the way was it ever revealed exactly what had him so bogged down that he quit?

Tait back, nice, would have loved to see him in the Test matches, recon he would have got it to round 160 :D sounds like a good team for both games, should be fun to watch.

Not to shabby 50 by Warner ;)

and mic'ing up batsmen I have to say is a bad, bad idea. I doubt Boucher will match banter that Symo and Gilly generated last year.

is it wrong to enjoy watching twenty20 matches?

I put it this way...

Test cricket = filet mignon.

ODIs = hamburger and fries

Twenty20s = popcorn.

Popcorn is okay on occasion, but I'd rather real food. :D

Yeah, he's been umpiring for a while.
Great innings by warner.
The IPL this year should be a killer now that everyone has found their game.

Spewing he missed his ton.
He's only a small bloke (my height 1.7m) but his stroke is so fluid. He looked like he had all the time in the world to play his shots.

It's a longshot but CA should take a punt on him and send to to South Africa.

He would not be suited to tests, and ODI's, he hasn't played a 50 over game so i don't know how he'd do there. He looks to be a specialist in 20/20's, just like Bevan was for ODI's.

Didn't he score 165 for NSW in a one dayer?

I don't agree with that specialist crap. If someone has an eye like he does then he can hit the ball in all forms of the game. Provided he has a half decent defense then he'd be perfect for tests.

Would be a gun at No 6 in ODI's I reckon.

Who's singing? I'm watching net commentary.

I can't watch Australia anymore. It's too frustrating after years of domination. We're in such a rut right now. Everything feels bogged down and slow (except Warner!!). We're going to be hammered three nil in the SA tests and I'm going to put money on us losing the ashes too. England isn't setting the world on fire atm but I can't see us winning over 5 tests on their turf.

I know we're watching 20/20 but it's my observations from the last 12-18 months
