The New Official Madden Season 12 Thread: LD come back... you can blame it all on me!

I severely doubt he's doing it intentionally since at that point of the game there would've been no real benefit to do so; in fact he probably could've run the clock down as it got close in the 4th and I don't think he really did.

Anyway I have got to improve my decision-making in the 2-minute drill and onside kicking ability. The pick before the half resulted in 3 points, the difference in the game, and since I recovered the first onside I tried my kicks have been putrid since.

I think Bryan stood me up...for John McCain! (edit: he was just running late. I forgive him! but we're still not playing. I hate that guy!) So my game might not get played this week. On days where I have to get up early, it's just too hard for me to play west coasters. Especially when we're unsure of an exact time.

Kinda unfortunate since it was the game of the week. It won't be the same, going into my W8 MEGA game against Ramirez not knowing if we're tied in the standings.

I don't mind losing, but I don't like stat padding, DJ Demon J, that's some bullshit

What stat padding? Just under 2 min left on the clock, I'm up by only 11. You have 3 timeouts left. I just converted a 3rd down at your 7 yd line. Am I supposed to take 3 knees, let you burn 3 timeouts to save clock, and take a 4th knee to hand you the ball? This is sim ball last I checked, and in the NFL a team puts it in from that short a distance to put the game away. If you had no timeouts left, then I would agree it's stat padding.

I mean, it's not like Portis has 10 TDs already and I'm trying to give him a freebie to attain #1 in the league in rushing TDs. He's got 3 right now with today's game, if I recall correctly. I know it's frustrating to have to replay this game so many times, and you're more frustrated because you lost. But it's NOT running up the score.

Oh and a submission for NFC offensive play of the week, Portis' 44yd TD to go up 14-0 in the 3rd quarter:

Unfortunately, Luke is gone 'till the mid October, so you won't find out 'till then. :[

Damn...all the divisions 'cept the NFC West (as usual ;)) are pretty competitive. Playoffs will be decided at the last minute!

Have those patches cleaned up NCAA at all? On the field, this game is what it is, but NCAA was just egregious this season when it launched. Do defenses still move like flocks of retarded birds after the ball carrier?

I think your lack of reading comprehension strikes you once again. I already said, I don't mind that you won. In fact, you stopped me with passing defense AND a great job on the run defense. But don't give me that "oh I didn't stat pad bullshit."

When you made the pick, you were well into within my territory, green bay 34 and in field goal range. With less than 3 mins left, don't you think that after a two score lead I would have called a time out? In addition, I would have called a time out after the nice 30 yard pass you made into the red zone. Also, don't you think that in the 1:45 mark, where it was 1st and Goal on the 7, and you were stopped, a time out would have been called? So suddenly I can go 2 scores, within 1:34 to possibly tie the game? Including an on-side kick. Hmm....

Also, you knew you were at fault because who called a time out after 2nd and 1 on my second possession of the final drive. If it was no big deal, you wouldn't have called the time out. In fact, I left the game with all three timeouts. you saw an opportunity to put Portis up with 100 yards and 2 TDs, which you got, so pat yourself on the back.

If you're going to talk sim league, no one in the NFL is going to throw that pass to get into the red zone on 2nd down with a commanding lead and running game. You're going to milk the clock with that lead.

I've played scrimmages and league games with leagues and have downed the ball even within the red zone, before your time. NEVER have I even run down the clock before we had the current rules in place, because we gave everyone in the tournament a chance to win unless it was a major blow out.

So props on the win, karma will come back in spades like it always does.

Hey dudes. I'm done w/ the league after this last game vs. MWS Natural is over.

I could make up some crazy shit, but... I'm just not having fun. :lol

I love my Dolphins, but they're barely bearable in game. Too many fumbles and other assorted bullshit that's outta my control. Can't turn shit into chocolate. Even if I could, the genie would charge me for two wishes.

Have fun GAFers. :D

Dude, I'm not a mind reader. I've had similar situations where I wasn't able to convert a 1st down, opponents used their timeouts, and I ended up losing.

I called the timeout because when you lined up for the kick, all of your outside blockers, as well as your placeholder, had triagle/square/circle/X icons over their head. I had never seen this before, and I thought it was because London Fletcher was showing his "smart linebacker" see-the-play-call ability and you were running a fake FG formation. So I called a timeout to put myself into FG Safe Zone coverage.

You fail to mention that prior to that throw you stuffed Portis for a big loss. And again, time was a consideration. And there have been plenty of occasions in the NFL where teams go against the "convential wisdom"--particularly the Redskins under Zorn.

All I'm reading here is bitching because you lost. One fucking TD and 7 yards, and you think I'm stat padding? With a back with only 3 total TDs? Are you fucking kidding me? Get off it dude. It's a fucking game. Ferchrissakes.

Hey PS3 Maddeneers. I've played with some of you in soccer leagues in the past, and since this is one of the most dedicated leagues on GAF I thought with FMT's blessing I'd throw out the call here for if anyone wanted to join our 360 FIFA 09 League. We're doing LeagueDaddy, extensive stat-tracking, the whole nine yards (or euro-yards, as it were). We're 30 strong right now, but to be fair super dedicated league players are worth a katrillion juniors.

Wow..what a game, Ramirez. You might not have enjoyed it as much as I did, since I came away with the W..but it was the best game I've been involved in this season. It felt like we were using the Colts and the Pats, instead of two gritty AFC North teams.

You really played well, as always, and I'm sure you'll rebound. We've had some battles over the years as these two teams, and that was one of the more epic ones.
