Could someone make sense to me with the ending of Gundam Zeta? I must say I am very disappointed

So Kamilles soul was taken away? I can't really make any sense of it despite the crazy abilities newtypes could have. I don't feel they explain newtypes well enough for me to accept the logic in this. Especially after everyone dying physically except Kamille. I would have accepted more the ending if he got crippled than this way it happened.

I have so far watched the Turn A, Original and Zeta now. I must say Zeta has been the best so far from ive seen. Would like to watch another Gundam that has the same interesting character casts with a lot of development. I don't find the battles much interesting (due to their repetitive outcomes and nature), but more the dialogues and interactions. You could say Turn A was the most appealing in that regard. So any recommendations from here?

He cracked. You can only take so much death and destruction in war before you lose your mind. Kamille lost his in the end.

Sometimes no-one can understand Newtype powers!

I thought Zeta was pretty poor overall so I probably shouldn't comment on this part.

I suppose the War in the Pocket OVA is a nice, tight, three episodes package of goodness.

Zeta was one of the best Gundam and even then I found it full of alot of annoying characters, but still probably the best Gundam series all around. Turn A is often praised as "quality" Gundam so I think you have pretty much seen the cream of the crop when it comes to story/dialogue in Gundam.... much of it appeals to the action and mecha porn fans and crazy hot bitches.

I actually thought that was one of the bet parts of the ending.
Kamille is a pretty tragic character, he gets used and abused by people who he looks up to and are his idols for their own plans. Almost everyone he cares for dies and he gets so consumed by war and killing that at the end he pays the ultimate price for it. He cracks/becomes crazy. The end. The newtype mumbojumbo around it isn't that important.

Zeta definitely is my fav <3 <3
plus Zeta and ZZ have the best Mobile Suit designs

definetly watch the OAVs 8th MS team and 0080 War in the Pocket. 0083 Stardust Memories is only so-so.

If you enjoyed it and want more of it you can always try some other shows by Tomino, the writer and director of pretty much all UC Gundam. I recently watched Brain Powered, which is an interesting show written and directed by him as well. It is somewhat akin to Turn A in that the fights aren't really the focus of the show - the characters are.
Or if you simply want a continuation of Zeta, go watch ZZ. It is not as good of a show overall I'd say, but it has its highs, is a bit happier and you'll get to see what happens with Kamille.

Okay then it actually makes sense. Now the ending feels very satisfying.

Of course I didn't think all the cast are interesting. Like I find the relationships among several characters forced. But Zeta felt like a massive improvement over the first. Still felt like a lot of things should be explained better, but at least the plot kept me interested and I liked Kamille as a lead.

Brain Powered sounds interesting.
I am a bit weary about ZZ as ive read some criticism (also curious about Chars counterattack). I like Char as a character, but if my image of him gets ruined by a not so great follow up id regret it!

CCA is good conclusion to the Amuro/Char saga, thou it is more of a sequel to the original Gundam than Zeta.
Don't take the newtype stuff in it too literally (works better imo)

ZZ is mostly silly and fairly skippable unless you love original Mobile Suit designs or Haman. It has lots of Haman. I love Haman <3 <3

You say that, but it's pretty clear that
he got his mind destroyed by newtype powers
.

Although your version would make more sense.

People saying Kamille cracked from the pressures of war at the end are wrong. He was mindfucked by Scirocco's Newtype magic. End of story.

Yes it's stupid, inexplicable, and out-of-left-field, but this is Tomino we're talking about.

08th MS Team and 0080: War in the Pocket are the best Gundam has to offer.

You won't have to worry about that. Char is not in ZZ at all, and he's only even mentioned a couple times. Just skip ZZ and read about it on wiki or something; it's a really awful show, even when it's trying not to be.

I would say the last thing a Haman fan would want to do is watch ZZ.

I don't know man, he's looking really graceful in the ZZ opening sequence. Like a pelican trying to catch a fish:

I think I will stay away from ZZ then, the newtype "logics" bothers me. At least it seems people agree on 8th MS team, War in a pocket being decent. Will try to look for these then. Thanks for the help as it has been enjoyable to look into this franchise (despite not being happy with any of the endings yet :p.)

I'd still recommend watching Char's Counterattack. Even though there are a couple of big "lol newtype magic" moments in the movie, and the script is kind of weak, it's still a visually fun watch and a good conclusion to the story that MSG and Zeta started.

Will give it a try as i like conclusions.

All hail Unicorn! Saving us from Gundam mediocrity.
Speaking of which, I just watched the 00 movie last night. It was entertaining in a herp derp kind of way if you try not to put so much weight on the story, which is primarily what I do when watching Gundam nowadays, lol.

I think Lockon summed up the movie pretty well with his one quote, "Indiscriminate Firing!" xD

I think the GAR version of 00 that they showed in the beginning of the movie would've been a way awesome alternative to the original series. ^^ And from a power scale outside of Turn A and G, aren't these Gundams by far the some of the strongest ones in the entire metaverse? At the least, they spam prettier than Destiny's recycled garbage. =P

I think I read somewhere than Setsuna's new Qan-T could've destroyed all the ELS in the last battle if he wanted to but choose to "understand them". Booo. Lol. I assume that would be the strongest Gundam so far.

Well, Setsuna was so big. *derp*

It's Raiser Sword was at the least as strong as that memento mori cannon on the Celestial Being and the fucking thing can jump into wormholes aside from probably doing everything 00 Raiser could x10. It was getting close to Jehuty status, lol.

Here's to hoping Qan[T] is better represented in upcoming video games then. I really liked it, granted it hardly had any action.

Lol, yeah seriously.

"We need to go to their home planet."

"How far is it?"

"Eleventy billion light years away .. but we'll be there in about 3 minutes check this out .."

PSN release. Unicorn isn't released in theaters, it's an OVA.

It would take a week for Quanta to defeat the ELS on its own. But that doesn't take pilot fatigue into account, or the fact that Setsuna can't go 5 minutes without getting mindfucked by the ELS.

It would take a week? When did they ever say that?

Based on what little we DID see of the Qan-T, it could have single-handedly destroyed the ELS if that was the objective. And as for mindfucking Setsuna or anyone else, that was when he TRIED to communicate with the ELS.

By himself I highly doubt it, he would eventually fall to overwhelming numbers and fatigue. Nothing really showed that he could have defeated the ELS by himself.

Really the whole deus ex garbage teleport thing was the only way for them to win.

Damn, I'm happy we're getting episode 3 so soon. Buy why dud it take almostca year between episode 1 & 2 releases?

Edit: Nevermind. I'm just thinking of the US distribution. Basically we're getting new OVAs every 6 to 8 months.

Supplementary material, which is where X-Frame is getting his idea from. 00 Quanta is capable of defeating the ELS single-handedly, but it would take a week's worth of fighting and doesn't take pilot fatigue into account.

No, he was constantly getting headaches just from them getting close to him.

On an another topic, the Gundam Unicorn Facebook page has posted that "a piece of news will be revealed soon." Announcement of announcement! Could be Unicorn related, could also have something to do with the new Gundam project supposedly being announced next month.

STAY TUNED

It could just be Bandai putting Vol. 3 up for preorder. They should be doing that soon.

I mean, pre 2001.

AU is fine, UC is boring at this point unless it takes place in the faaaar future like F91/V. Being restricted to 0079-CCA technology limits the mech designs too much for an original tv gundam. Of course then there's Unicorn which breaks that role, but unicorn is just totally bullshit in terms of trying to stay consistently realistic with the tech of the time period.

Meh. I don't want them to waste the resources animating a Gundam story I can already fully enjoy by reading. Make something new with new mecha designs!

I wouldn't mind seeing Crossbone, but I have a feeling a lot of people clamoring for a Crossbone anime aren't aware of how stupid the source material actually is.

err...how? Unicorn mechs are all evolved from Zeta/ZZ/CCA era designs...which fits the time period exactly.

edit - Also, I think the announcement is just Gundam Musou 3 coming to the West.

That doesn't sound more or less any different from most of UC!
