The Official Left 4 Dead Thread

I've been fooling around with the No Mercy and Crash Course (CC was decompiled, a bit buggy) maps lately, trying to link NM5 - Rooftop Finale to the starting chapter of Crash Course. After a lot of failed attempts (and some lost sleep) I got it to work! Aside from the lack of credits, the entire finale is intact, including the final dash to the helicopter and the short escape movie.

I'm guessing in the end I'll have to include all 12 maps of the three campaigns (NM, CC, DT) renamed to avoid conflicts with the official maps, so this might be slightly time/bandwidth consuming.

Anyone here played the Silent Hill custom map? It's really annoying since it's quite buggy.

And Death Aboard is amazing.

are you talking about custom maps?

if you want to play with someone you all have to have the maps downloaded and put them in your addons folder.

then just create a game and have folks with the maps join.

Looking forward to Dead Before Dawn and Cold Case (Both coming on Halloween)

Death Aboard is pretty good too. Haven't tried teh Silent Hill one... we're more into VS campaigns.

I liked the second game better than the first last night haha. I don't mind losing, I just prefer it to be with a group who I am familiar with.

Also, anyone familiar with the SDK that might know what's going on with this? I don't think it's the fog controller's far z plane cutoff setting, because I can noclip into roughly the same spot and the building doesn't clip like that. It always clips in this manner when the helicopter is pulling away and the player views are locked to the camera.

Try to send them to me once they're done, and I can put them up on the ftp I use for others to grab no problem.

I played Suicide Blitz last night, was very NM1/3-ish as a city map. Was pretty cool and could be a lot of fun on vs (iirc an update came out today for vs for it), except they need to adjust the finale quite a lot. Reminded me of the end of Duke Nukem I think

Well, except for the finale, where everyone survives. Thankfully, both teams kinda screwed up on the finale tonight. :lol The only other thing that really mattered was the awesome tank they had at the first map saferoom...

Death Aboard vs is interesting, but I wish my pals would play/try out some other customs on vs.

Expert's not bad after you get used to it. That's where most people get annoyed, however..before getting used to it.

Tried out Suicide Blitz last night, actually pretty fun! The end of map 4 was kinda cool, and the finale area wasn't too bad. Wroth a look.

My friend got pinned on the car you have to use to jump into the heli and got incapped...we had to put him down. We'll remember him always!

Hero: I tried joining your game the other day when you posted but it kept giving me an error when I just clicked on the Join Game in Progress button on your steam page. Tried some other people's Join buttons on their Steam page, too, and got the same thing.

I lost about half my energy trying to figure out how to get into the helicopter.

What kind of error? When I get invited or try joining games, it just opens the game and I have to click their game still anyway, or was it some kind of string table error or ?

Gaf, I have a dilemna. I won't be home Friday or Saturday night which means I could be missing up to 4 Gaf VS games total. This has me really upset because I need my Gaf VS fix. Gaf, would you play with me tonight? That means you Vert, Nabs, Morningbus, Midnight, Link, Blizz, etc.

Are you talking about joining from friend's lists games or from Steam pages? I've always had the same problem with Steam pages. It's 50/50 at best. Maybe it's because they're playing single-player and not actually in a game, in a full game, etc. But it's a PITA because it usually ends in failure. I wish you could view game information from Steam pages and then get a join window like with the friend's list.

It really defeats the purpose of having Group pages showing what everyone is playing when the join buttons so often lead to nothing.

Have you guys tried Dead City map? Fun game, with hordes always attacking and events are auto-triggered.
