The Official NeoGaf Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Thread

Combat reminds me of a shittier kingdom hearts with slots thrown in. Slots can be so random when the middle slot just gets pushed aside for no reason at all. Still entertaining though.

Crisis Core kick ass. enjoy it with or without ff7. However i believe its best to complete CC after ff7, just because the story flow more slowly. u'll have memorable experience and the character makes a bigger impact.

I don't want to be picky, but could Zack's headless profile picture in the OP be changed to one of these?

Does anyone besides me object to pre-ordering? I see it as basically a scam, unless there is some nice schwag thrown in to sweeten the deal. I rarely have problems finding games on launch day, and pre-ordering with Amazon or Gamestop seems too risky, since they are not obligated to get you the game on launch day. Anyways, that's my little rant. Hopefully I can pick Crisis Core up at Circuit City on launch day and get the gift card.

Considering "launch day" is Wednesday, I'll have no problem picking up my pre-order.

It's funny, I went to Anime Boston a couple of days ago and me and my freinds saw a Cloud cosplayer. One of my friends asked me "Why is his outfit purple?" :lol

It just never jumped out at me before :lol

Maybe the colors were messed up on the PC I played it on ^^

Where do you think Cloud got his clothes from? o_O

That's the second class soldier outfit. The first class is blue/black. Cloud doesn't wear those. :D

edit: upon closer inspection, he does wear purple in ff7. Wow, continuity error?

Oh shit, I let someone use my PSP charger last night and I forgot to bring it home with me, and my PSP is only at 35% batter power. It looks like the heavens are beginning to conspire against me; or at least requiring me to drive over to the house and pick up the charger. In any event, sort of a hassle... Considering this is the first time in months I am excited to play the PSP.

This is a bit off-topic, but whatever happened to the possibility of Before Crisis coming to the US? Or a PSP version of it?

Whoa! I randomly stopped by a Game Crazy today and they had it in stock! Washington BTW. How the hell do they have it so early? It was funny, because as I was buying it, the automated GameStop call was calling me telling me my reserved copy will be here tomorrow. LOL!

Is the manual in color? :lol Silly question but I enjoy the color [WO Pulse Upset me though ;(]. But damn. the overall presentation is downright beautiful. I'll have mine shipped to me tomorrow by UPS. so around 1-2pm CST for me. Can't wait to play it though.

Yes, full color 41-page manual.

Went to my local Target to pick up some batteries, noticed they had the game in-stock and picked it up. Played about 2 hours so far, the graphics are absolutely ridiculous.

How are the VAs? I really liked the JP ones when I played through that version. Is there an option for them, or is it English only?

Beautiful looking game, but it does seem to be all style and no substance.

Definitely made for the fans and with no real interest in attracting new players to the genre, no real depth in combat with a story which is extremely generic.

Music, presentation, cut scenes etc are excellent and definitely the best on the system .... but the game is not mind blowing.

GOW:COO was a bigger breakthrough in terms of the handheld world moving up and closer to home console presentation, story, gameplay and overall feel.

Enjoyable I am sure for the countless FF fans and they will lap it up, for everyone else ..... approach with caution.

Awesome, thanks for the head's up!

What are the chances of BB having it out now?

I agree to an extent. I would rate the game a 8.5/10 based on beating the Japanese version... however I really really enjoyed it. It makes me long for a true FFVII remake even more :(

Although I do disagree with you on the attracting new users point.

Just got done playing my friends copy from GC. If you are FF7 fan, you will melt like butter on hot mashed taters. Pure nostalgia and really fun gameplay. I even enjoy
the emails you get
, they are very informative. I want a console/handheld remake now!!! Can't wait to have my own tomorrow.

On a side note, does anyone know if BB's are giving them out today? I have my pre-order there with a $20 rewards zone GC so I really have my hands tied behind my back.

I find the story / game world is just to impenetratable to those who don't have a degree in Final Fantasy lore.

I never played FF7 and have never really been attracted to this genre ( JRPG ) but I really wanted to play the game and hopefully get into the genre.

But without any background knowledge of the series the majority went over my head, and this hindered my ability to get drawn in by the story or care for the characters.

Play FF7 first. This is definitely a game for the fans. Anyone who hasn't played/beat FF7 will sorely lack the right frame of mind to review this.

I just found out this game is out tomorrow and not the day after. How long is it? im wondering if I should play NGDS before this or not.

Took me around 30 hours first time through, however I didn't do all of the side missions.

I have zero positive nostalgia surrounding FFVII, so I'm not sure if that helps me much.

I purchased it and beat FFVII when it launched, I think the universe had some vague potential that was mostly subsequently destroyed by the atrocious movie and the abysmal Dirge of Cerberus. From jGAF impressions, I thought maybe Crisis Core would stand on its own in terms of gameplay, and help at least salvage some of the FFVII universe lore from oblivion.

I was hoping this. I still hope this, but this is what I feared. Impossible to tell who of jGAF is wide-eyed adoration of this fabled game, or who can be trustworthy. I really don't want to throw my $40 away after the last few times I fell for the FFVII trap...

We won't be selling them until tomorrow with no exeptions, at least my store is being like that....I tried to swindle them into selling my copy early because I work there and failed.
