I mean... sort of? Star Wars can very much be watched in chronological order (of the series, not of the release dates). If someone hadn't seen any of the Star Wars I'd recommend they do that, start from A Phantom Menace. It'd be pretty sick not to know Anakin becomes Darth Vader, you know? But on the other hand, you'd already know that he was Luke's father when you watched the original trilogy. Prequels aren't necessarily designed to be watched after the original, in anachronological order--that is just the way they were released and so logically the first epidode that was released sets the stage for the prequel, and not the other way around, but that if you watch the prequel first, it will set the stage for the sequel, for you.. Of course, many people had already seen the original Star Wars, or with FF, played FFVII. It's like which came first, the chicken or the egg?
