Hrm. After some heavy consideration of what to do with Super, I think I'm going to put down Claw as a main and keep him as a secondary. A main I'm not too sure on but I want it to be any of the new characters. Which opens up plenty of choices. If things spin good for Claw once I get my hands on Super, I'll stick with him as a main but for now, he's going to go secondary for me. But in no way in hell am I giving up on him.

Yeah, but she grew up in a ninja village surrounded by old farts and was forced to undergo hardcore ninja training (tm) ever since she was a little girl. I'd lie about going to some boring old ninja summer camp too if it meant having to watch the Great White Ninja / American Ninja series over and over again. At least show the Van Cleef version ffs.

Mak is too stressed out all the time. She's like the moe schoolgirl version of Kratos - always pissed off, yelling, and charging at people. Hopefully she gets all that pent up, Twilight-fueled, teen angst out of her system and learns to enjoy life a bit more. She's cute and all, but no one wants to see that tomboyish charm marred with premature age lines and grey hair!

Sakura is all good and everything. I tried to represent her but she requires more finesse than I've got to make her work. Glad you're repping her.

Yeah, I think having just ONE combo that Gouken can hit confirm into would really help him as a character. Lp lp lp lp lk doesn't coun't lol. Even if it's just a way to link jab to strong cancel to hadoken, that would help him a lol.

Wow. Well, maybe they can make it combo into Hazanshu while we're being ridiculous.

I'm thinking either better damage, or slightly longer reach. It looks like it should hit further than her standing HP, but it doesn't.

Just noticed the df LK buff. I wonder if it will work as an anti-air just to prevent her from getting hit by a free jump-in, or if it will continue to be just as useless as before.

Sold. I shall flip a coin to main Makoto or Fuerte in Super. Moe Schoolgirl Kratos ftw.

You can stuff Bison's headstomp with it if you time it right, and maybe now that'll actually count for something.

as someone who absolutely hated Cody in A3, and didn't want to give him a chance in Super, I have to say that he is a lot of fun.

Can anybody break down for me which command throw ultras you can jump out of after the flash? I kept hearing you could for Dirty Bull, but what about Guys or Ibukis or Hondas etc?

You can jump out of anything except for gief ultra/super and akuma super

So I think Justin Wong might be the only person on the planet who thinks Hakan straight up sucks. :lol I get people not liking him, but he's far from a crappy character.

Early prediction: Daigo(Hakan) vs J.Wong(Cody) Evo 2010. BELIEVE! :lol

Nah they're not worthless, just gotta set them up differently. Keep in mind characters like ibuki and rog have more mobility to set them up.

Though I will agree that Rog's 2nd ultra is worthless.

Pardon my asking, but I'm not used to non invincible grabs, what with the long history of giefing. You sayin for Guy, Ibuki and Rog you'll basically have to bait them into committing to something in order to nail the throws?

Depends on the character I suppose.

Fuerte's ultra 2 is an invincible 3 frame start-up grab that goes almost half a screen.

Honda's U2 supposedly is 0 or 1 frame start-up but it doesn't have invincibility at all and the range sucks.

Guy's is also very fast although perhaps has more start-up frames than honda's/gief's but with how fast he can move, it can be worthwhile to use it in some match-ups.

Boxer's U2 is trash though - 5 frame start-up for a grab ultra is never a good sign. And worse, it deals big stun damage and very little health damage.
It's trash and purely used for trolling.

Hakan/Gief/Hawk's ultras probably are the 0/1 frame start-up variety and have invincibility frames.

rog's ultra 2 is total fucking bullshit..i dont care how much stun it does what the hell can he do with it..say you land it and dont get the dizzy..then you land a combo and they get dizzied..then what the fuck do you do?..rog doesnt have any huge damaging combos..and even if he did the post dizzy scaling would make it worthless..i have no idea wtf they were thinking about when they gave him that garbage ass ultra

I'm thinking he's going to be very good in super and imo not many people will use him because he has an average fireball and his movement speed isn't the best.

well to be fair, the damage for that whole sequence would equal the same amount as a fully stocked ultra but over all yeah i agree the other ultra is probably better.

Still, as a designer - I gotta give them props for trying something different. That along with Gen's grey damage ultra and the counter ultras are an interesting idea. It may be that they need to be adjusted to be viable, but I'm not going to fault them for trying.
Especially since I don't play Rog, Cammy, Fei, or Gen.
They've had some time to playtest these ultras and from what they're saying their internal testing team is pretty strong. I wouldn't be surprised if someone finds a way to use the "new" ultras in the future.

Well you have to keep in mind that some throws are used to eliminate the other opponents options.

Take fuerte's grab ultra for example, it has good horizontal range and has a 3 frame start up. So now, all of a sudden, Balrog can't use his best poke of St. rh anymore because if fuerte grabs it, he gets a free ultra. The dynamics of the match are completely different now. And if the rog IS dumb enough to do that? then you get sick damage
