I've already gone through this. That Lucas was not director or did not produce Star Wars on his own simply shifts my argument from establishing him as an authority to establishing the whole creative team, whose opinions may or may not be represented fully by Lucas, as an authority.

Although I'm not sure I fully agree with that argument now, anyway.

Finally got around to watching the ANH edit. I thought most of the changes were solid. The addition of Yavin to the Death Star battle in particular was great, as were most of the background additions giving the fight some density. A few of the shots were obviously not professional, but overall I like what he did to the battle. The alien animations were cool to see as well.

The only big problem was the completely inappropriate prequel music added to the Vader/Obi-wan fight. Messing with the music was not a good idea, it's very jarring and ruined the scene.

Sorry to necro this thread, but what I'm going to post, while it blew my mind, doesn't deserve its own. Plus I also haven't read through this thread (ain't I just the best poster?) so I don't know if anything like this has been posted here. But anyway, I read this on another board and it blew my mind, so I'm reposting it verbatim.

Just to give the prequels more of a chance to really mesh into the overall story, and also to widen the gap between Empire and Jedi so I'm more eager to see Han freed, and Vader redeemed, etc.

Wooo, necroing my own thread.

With the Episode III Plinkett review looming, I think it's appropriate to post about this fan edit. Reign of the Dark Side is an awesome looking Episode III fan edit. It's mostly eye candy, but it's god damn cool eye candy. And, of course, no more Anakin whining, and much better pacing.

Anakin vs. Obi Wan (Red Saber)
Emperor looks more like OT Emperor

I think it looks pretty damn cool so far, especially considering it's HD

Also, Adywan's ESB: Revisited should be out in 2011. Awesome trailer is awesome.

I think the way it would work would be Obi Wan picked up Anakin's blue saber, which he still had on him.

And if you think about it, why wouldn't Anakin be given the red Sith lightsaber as soon as he turned? He was Vader then and there... just because he wasn't in the armor doesn't mean he wasn't Darth Vader.

but yeah, it's gonna be tough to made that edit believable...

Red saber is not just automatically given once you are brought to Sithhood... He still had to prove himself by wiping out the Jedi temple and battle his old master to become "strong enough in the Dark Side".

Plus I think he had to forge his own red lightsaber as part of his rite of passage and especially since he lost his.
