The Walking Dead Michonne |OT| Clementine will remember that

Episode 2 was great. Short, but great. Although one thing pissed me right the fuck off.

Why the fuck would the dad open the gate just to throw out the arm. Just throw it over, moron. It was such a stupid thing to do that I'm actually mad at Telltale for it. I guess they wanted his death to be shocking and quick but I saw it coming the second he opened the god damned gate. He knew Sam was being hunted. No one would realistically open the gate to THROW AWAY AN ARM. FUCK.

When he picked up the arm, I also thought he was going to throw it over the wall... but then he started to sound quite miserable and it seemed like he was giving up, and was about to go into the woods to kill himself.

Hmm, it's 25% off. There's no doubt I'll buy it, but I won't play it until it's complete. I wonder if I should just buy it now, I doubt it'll be cheaper any time soon?

Just finished the latest episode. Short but enjoyable. I really like Michonne as a character and it's kind of nice being someone who can take care of themselves, since Lee and Clementine weren't really as capable as Michonne is.

Overall a good, if brief episode. Pretty intense from start to finish.

Once again it only took about an hour to complete episode 2 which is disappointing but this was much better than episode 1. The writing was better, the characters developed more and the new gang felt more fleshed out.

Apart from
the dumb as shit move by the dad to open the gate. What the hell was he thinking? As soon as he did that I knew he was dead, it was too obvious, too telegraphed.

That aside, it was a pretty solid episode.

Interested to see what happens to everyone in the finale.

Comic readers know that
Michonne and Pete survive and make it back to the boat but the rest aren't in the comics so anything can happen to them.

I'm enjoying this more than Minecraft Story Mode even though this is a shorter run. Not sure if it's because it's just straight up better or because I'm a huge Walking Dead fan and know nothing about Minecraft.

I'll probably do one complete run after episode 3. Experience it as a whole. At this rate it'll only be 3 - 4 hours in total anyway.

I'm playing this on PC and this episode seems to be a lot buggier than the first. A lot of noticeable stuttering and long load times. The intro recap video froze for about 10 seconds too, had to restart the game after that.

Excited to see what Telltale have done with the engine for Batman.

Man, fuck Telltale. Wanted to play this on PC but once the Xbox One controller is plugged in, the game constantly stutters like a slideshow. Their Game of Thrones episodes seem to have the same issue, apparently.

How do you even fuck this up.

Really intense episode that had no weak points imo. Every situation was totally thrilling and that final...

I let Randall speak to Norma and then bashed his head in at the end. Theoretically Norma should think he is still alive giving me a slight advantage for the last episode. I hope Telltale actually does something with this choice.

Episode 2 was incredible. And is this game seriously on sale? On XB1 too? I just bought the damn game at full price.

Anyway I absolutely loooved Episode 2. The first episode was just good, not great, and bordering on boring. While the second episode has had some fantastic moments, like
meeting Sam's family, cleaning and cauterizing Sam's wound, breaking it to the family that Greg died... The initial escape from Norma's place wasn't exciting but once Sam became shot the story become wonderfully compelling. Right now I just finished Chapter 5, where Michonne had her flashback. It was beautiful and surreal seeing civilization in its initial disarray - the framing inside Michonne's apartment was great, with the camera at just the right angle to get a glimpse at fire/smoke emanating from the condominiums across the street... Very pleasing aesthetically.

Finally got around to playing Episode 2 yesterday. Enjoyed it more than episode 1. Happy that they let you
kill Randall
. When I played Game of Thrones, it seemed like they never let you take any action that aligned with your impulses.

What are telltate doing with the lengths of the episodes?I finished the ep 2 in 1 hour.Is better than the previous one but this is not excuse for the length.

I assumed when they said it was going to a "mini-series" that meant 3 episodes instead of the usual 5 or 6. I guess that also meant the episodes were going to be shorter as well. So they basically sold us 1.25 - 1.5 regular length episodes.

Not that it really bothers me that much. I really like their formula and will play almost anything they put out. (except the Minecraft game... I have absolutely no attachment to Minecraft and the tone of it makes me think it's for younger people)

I'm downloading a 1.3gb patch on Steam right now as well... wonder what that's about.

So that was the issue? Here I was about to check my graphics card and software.

Sure enough, as soon as I unplugged my XBOne controller, the game reaches a somewhat playable state. Fuck off, Telltale. Tired of your shit.

New interview with Robert Kirkman, with some season 3 info. The game will take place close to where the comics are(about two years since the end of season 2) and we will be checking up on Clementine. No confirmation if she will have a central role or not. Also the season will have more of a comic element to it.

Season 3 stuff talked about at 5:08 I believe.

So what did people think of the final episode? Played it last night, here are my thoughts:

Overall, I really enjoyed this miniseries but it's not without it's faults.Checking my playtime I clocked in about 3 1/2 - 4 hours across all 3 episodes, which isn't bad for it's asking price but did feel a little bit rushed. PS4 version, never had it crash or give me any real issues, apart from some slower loading screens on Ep 3.

Things I loved: Michonne, first of all. She felt like a badass and the action sequences were the best Walking Dead has ever had. Hope to see more of it in S3. The actress who did her voicework was quite good and did a great job with the character. I liked the struggle she had with the visions of her kids, but the ending percentage of people who made the decision to stay with the kids was so lopsided (90% left) that I feel like they didn't give us a whole lot of reason to give in to those visions.

I thought the setting was cool, the bad guys were good, and I came around to liking Sam's character and her family. I thought it was a neat touch that her little brother talks about Wendigo's since they're the closest Native American lore equivalent of a zombie, and I love Native American stories.

Things I didn't love: The biggest problem with the series is that it was on the lean side and we already knew that Pete and Michonne would survive no matter what because they're canonical characters and this takes place before the comics so we know they come back. I think this led to me playing riskier than I would have otherwise with Michonne's safety, but Sam and everyone else were original characters so I ended up making my decisions around keeping them safe since I knew at the end of the day Michonne and Pete would be fine.

Overall a cool series, it was well written and the action scenes were the best they've done so far, so I hope to see S3 continue the trend.

I was surprised at how awesome the last episode was. After episode 1, it could've went either way, but it just got better with each episode. Very exciting climax and I am satisfied for the most part. This last episode also stopped with the "SURPISE! YOUR DEAD!" moments where you had no way to react to a situation in time before dying and was more clear about what to do in tense situations. That was my biggest complaint about the last two episodes and it was improved here. What a great way to end this miniseries!

One thing that did bother me in general about the miniseries *SPOILERS*
I know that the kids were the reason why Michonne left and would eventually be the reason why she would return back to Rick's group, and I'm okay with the idea. The execution just felt...underwhelming I guess? I wasn't emotionally invested in it as much as the game wanted me to, maybe it had something to do with how the comics kinda had already concluded it shortly after the prison. I also didn't like how they were basically demons and would've liked to see some forgiveness from them, but that's just me. It probably would've gave me a reason to stay in the house with them, because there was absolutely no reason for me to stay in it after making Michonne feel like shit for not being there lol.

And Telltale, PLEASE drop that engine. It's archaic and works like an old beat up car. Let it go.

But either way, I enjoyed this miniseries and it wasn't a ripoff like 400 Days was. I would recommend it.

So what did people think of the final episode?

I ended up really enjoying it.
Things turned out infinitely better than I thought they would given my choice at the end of the last episode and the fact that this is a Walking Dead game. Basically, everyone I gave a shit about survived and all the assholes got what they deserved.
I had a blast.

I just finished episode 1 and I enjoyed it but damn it was short, way less than the usual 2 hours.

I found each episode to be just over an hour long. A nice neat 3 - 4 hour self contained story.

Just finished episode 2 and it was even shorter, I'm not happy about this at all. I was expecting the usual 6 hours, not half that. I'm enjoying it otherwise though, the Telltale jank is at a minimum although I have had some frame rate drops which is never usually the case and a few of the load times have been pretty long even on my Samsung 850. I may as well finish it now but I'm going to be thirsty for more.

Well it is a miniseries not a full fledged season. It was bound to be shorter. All in all though, I really enjoyed my time with it. Tempted to sit down tomorrow and play through the entire thing in one go and make different choices.

It's a miniseries sure, which is why it's only 3 episodes instead of 5 or 6 but that doesn't mean the episodes themselves should be half the duration as well. I just finished it and I enjoyed it but it felt extremely short and I'm left thinking "Oh it's over?".

I decided to finally play the first episode today, and ended up playing through the first two, because they're so short.

I like it.

I think this time it's actually a Windows/Microsoft issue. They pushed an update for XInput stuff that broke a shit load of games from what I've read. You can see it here, plus a fix in the comments.

I had the same problem, and once I unplugged the controller it was working fine. It feels weird playing these games with KB/M to me though.

So what's the verdict on TWD: Michonne ? I was waiting until all 3 had been released and ppl had a chance to play them before thinking about getting it myself.

Probably not fair to compare it against the full seasons....but how about to 400 days ?

7/10 for me. Not top tier TTG but decent, it did feel really short though. If they can't finish up a story quickly without it feeling rushed they should stick to full seasons. And the choice of voice actor for Michonne wasn't the best IMO, while she did a fine job her tone was just too soft, Michonne is a strong, badass woman and the voice didn't really match that.

Pretty good. Worth the price.

So for those that have finished it will this spoil the TV show for me?

No, it's comic canon not TV.

picked this up on Steam sale and its probably the best $7 Ive ever spent. Short episodes and a good 3 hour experience.

They really nailed Michonne's voice from TWD TV show, sounds just like her

Wasn't there supposed to be a season 3 teaser in the last episode? I'm almost 100% certain they said it'll literally bridge the gap between S2 and S3?

So I'm playing this for the first time and didn't anyone else notice that James Fairbanks looks a lot like Clementine? Is it their engine not offering enough character model variety or just lazy? ;p

Also Sam reminds me of Max from LiS but I don't have a problem with that. ;)

Finished episode 2. Took 53 minutes between first trophy pop and the last one.

And I LOVE that!

I thoroughly enjoyed episode 2.

As a new dad, and a grad student, my time is so incredibly limited. Rather than play a mission in MGS5 that I probably won't finish, or hop into something else where I may not be able to make any real progress in an hour. I was able to sit down and complete an episode during my son's nap.

Perfect pacing, excited for episode 3!
