Oh fuck, this sounds really bad.

Don't die on us, Carrie! We need your weird ass Twitter posts to continue for the rest of time.

So if paramedics worked for 15 minutes without a pulse once the plane landed, that means 30 minutes without a pulse?

It's not the best news, but being a pathologist, I can say I've seen people go through some pretty crazy shit and end up being ok. All hope is not lost, we just have to wait and see.

You're not wrong, but as a neurologist who sees post anoxic injury... 15-30 minutes downtime even with compressions is a long time.

I just thought it was in poor taste saying basically :

"don't die you still need to film more star wars movies"

Can't just say "please survive" ?

Can"t believe I'm the one called a prick here lol.

People have been called out for saying "fuck 2016" but wishing for her to survive so she can film more movies is ok ?

What about wishing for a human being to live ?

Ah, well that's at least somewhat reassuring. The few times I was involved in a code in med school I was usually on chest compression duty and damn it is ROUGH, lol.

EDIT: To give people an idea, I've had people say "If you're not legitimately trying to palate the person's spine through their chest, then your compressions aren't good enough." It is a very tough job. Broken ribs, punctured lungs, etc are not uncommon. I hope she pulls through ok :(
Are you a doctor?

Just heard about this a few minutes ago.

Awful. I hope a miracle happens and she pulls through. 2016 has done a number on my ability to muster up hope, so I'll just send my thoughts and prayers to her family.

Don't you often end up breaking many bones and fucking things up even more ?

I thought no breathing for 5 or more minutes was basically brain death. Hear even with CPR it can be pretty damaging if it doesn't circulate enough air. Hope she pulls through ok, scary stuff considering she's not THAT old at 60.

Well, as sad as this is, she had a really good run. Shame she won't there for future SW movies anymore, but all of those people were on borrowed time anyway. Even if she lives, she won't have an active part.
And yes, I said 'if' because heart issues tend to be where your life ends. There is no cure, there's no magic getaway, and there's little that can be done about it. That's how it is, sadly.

It could turn out she's pretty lucky they were only 15 minutes from LAX. If it had happened mid-way over the Atlantic she'd be toast.

Breaking the breast bone and some ribs is common practice when giving CPR. Chest compressions when giving CPR need to be at least 2 inches deep, so you really gotta press down hard.

I felt the 'i need you for star wars' comment was very distasteful too.

She's not dead yet. You never know, she could pull through. (Yes, the odds are against her but have some faith.)

Wow...pretty tragic.

15 minutes is an awfully long time, she will likely never be the same if she lives. But I'm hoping for a miracle.

I don't even know how to parse this. "Borrowed time"? What? She's 60.
