Still sounds like blink-182 with Matt Skiba shows will take place.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We were all set to play this festival and record a new album and Tom kept putting it off without reason. A week before we were scheduled to go in to the studio we got an email from his manager explaining that he didn’t want to participate in any Blink-182 projects indefinitely, but would rather work on his other non-musical endeavors

They will be playing a future show with Matt Skiba from Alkaline Trio and it seems that this "band" will live on.

Mark Hoppus (the other one) tweeted this:

blink-182 life. For life.

Sounds like they will continue on...

Not exactly a big surprise

So AvA is dead too? It would be a shame since the last album with Ilan Rubin was the best one yet.

I can't believe he left the same exact way he did 10 years ago. He should have the guts to tell Mark and Travis himself.

I haven't enjoyed them since I was like 17 years old listening to dude ranch. Everyone but Travis is completely replaceable from a musical perspective.

One of the most annoying singers on mainstream radio stations in the '90s. Holy crap he was terrible to listen to.

Not surprised. Dude broke up the band originally with his ego and bullshit. Was only a matter of time before he walked again. Angels and Airwaves is pretty bad though you can tell how badly he tries to be an emo Bono live.

For the record, I Iike a couple Angels and Airwaves songs. But mostly think it's bad. Certainly not worth leaving Blink 182 over.

I'm not surprised. Just seems how this guy is.

To be honest I'm still more shocked the band ever really got back together tbh.

...and that, kids, was the first time I sucked a dick for crack
Don't leave me, Tom.

But hopefully this leads to a Family Reunion down the line.

They should've stayed together for the kids.

I guess this is growing up...

This plus the avatar sitting right next to it made for a pretty perfect first response.

I just recently read a story on AV Club about the Enema of the State album, the big hits of which were both written in about 15 minutes because DeLonge and Hoppus were fighting with each other for control of the band, so both of them went home and wrote the dumbest, poppiest bullshit they could to prove they were the BEST at being dumb and poppy.

Almost 10 years after the first hiatus too.

He has a bunch of animations and movies in the works. He probably wants to focus on those AND AvA instead of putting that time on Blink.

Travis is the most replaceable. He doesn't write the music or lyrics.

Travis wasn't even around for Dude Ranch.

This is good news. Tom is a huge turd and has been since like '05.

Would be fucking awesome if Skiba joined full-time or if they abandoned the blink name and started touring under a new name with him.

I should be less surprised than I am, really. I'm not convinced Matt would be a great full-time replacement, but we'll see how it goes.

(also, +44 reunion, make it happen)

Do you have a link to that?

I know a story like that but it's in regards to Take Of Your Pants and it was because the label wanted more radio ready songs so they wrote Rock Show and First Date in like 10 minutes.

THAT'S what I'm thinking of. Apologies. (Getting old sucks)

Here's the link.

I might have boiled it down too much, but the article makes it clear the two were basically competing with each other by that point, with both of them having pretty distinctly different ideas as to what the group represented, and what their songs were actually doing.

again, apologies for fucking up that anecdote earlier. Should have known better and checked my work before posting.

dave is ok

aztek is ok
Was he the one who wrote the slow instrumental parts of the song before the last chorus? Because they're in real trouble without every single sing having a slow instrumental part before the last chorus.

For fucks sake, learn to write a bridge.

Well that sucks. Blink 182 was the major band I listened to and I still do. Their newest album was just okay but in the end I'm glad they existed. They really are one of my favorite all time bands

Wtf? No. Travis is a fantastic drummer with incredible speed, and nobody will be able to cover his fills live. The songs will sound like shit in concert. They'd need to replace him with a God tier drummer like Josh Freese, or something. And I don't see that happening.

Tom and Mark are Blink-182.

Travis is pretty overrated honestly.

Neighborhoods was mediocre but i was looking forward to their next effort. Im a huge fan of Matt Skiba, would love to see him play with blink live. Alkaline Trio haven't made a great album in a long time so i wouldn't mind seeing Matt make an album with Mark and Travis

Obviously there best stuff is behind them, but I love those albums a lot, especially the self-titled. Such a great fucking record. Bummed I never got to see them live.

At least I finally got to see them live. Would quite like to see a concert with Matt singing. I love Alkaline Trio.

Still though this sucks for us fans.
