I just told you PlayStation celebrated their 25th anniversary last year. In every market. The US got the 25th anniversary items last year, despite the different release date. They barely gave two fucks about celebrating the 25th anniversary last year during the actual 25th anniversary, they certainly don't give two fucks about your fantasy "Tier 1 market" 25th anniversary celebration that's actually in year 26. Nor do they care about Xbox "dominating this week."

Whatever dominating you think is going on now, remember that when Sony announces price - which by the way will more than likely come with the announcements of games as well and not just a tweet, as Sony actually has major launch title(s) to promote - and measure those dominating numbers you think you're seeing now against what happens with PlayStation.

This is what I don't understand about forums like these. I guess if your a budget minded person, then yes Xbox has got you covered for gaming on a conscious budget in uncertain employment times.

What they dont have is compelling software, even with obscure stuff like Wasteland 3 that for PC players is a great title, but for console players is something that is very niche in it's audience.

It really does feel like they bet everyone on Halo in terms of their big killer app.

When i buy a console at launch i look at long term perspectives. thats when services, customer relations, and SKUs come in to play.

For people who like PS exclusives (i dont. they are all reskins of each other as far as im concernced) then the prospect of buying a PS5 is promising. But for me the Xbox brand has literally every other deciding factor in spades over PS. Consumer friendliness, value, services, ect. Gamepass is a sensational value and now with EA and potentially other major titles onboard it far outweighs me deciding on a console based on launch games (<1% of all the games that will ever come out on the system)

I have bought a console solely based on a single launch game before and that was Halo CE. But sorry, R&C is no where close to be that sort of system seller. Its a neat game for people already planning on buying a PS5

Sure, a lot of games do that. But I'm playing the original Horizon right now on a base PS4 and it doesn't look like its doing that. The game is beautifully consistent in gameplay and cutscene.

AMAZON leak literally has close to final box art for Returnal, Sackboy big adventure, Destruction All stars, Demons souls, and GT7.

Now add Miles MOrales. Thats a very compelling lineup for launch.

Well, I mean they announced Spiderman MM, Ratchet and Clank, Gran Turismo 7, Horizon II, and Demons Souls Remake all coming in the PS5's FIRST year with gameplay trailers running on PS5. So its not the same. MS just showed off Craig Infinite and a bunch of CGI trailers.

Sony showed ACTUAL games. If they didn't, then I would chastise them too. Gamers want games. It's really simple.

I would Play devils advocate, they may not be as transparent. But the have been still with recent events and state of plays servicing their current platform very well with continued exclusives and exclusive content like Hitman VR.

I mean when you look at exclusives FF7:R, Yakuza remaster trilogy, Last of us part 2, Ghost of tsushima .

Well the initial statement that my reply was aimed at was that there weren't any games shown, to which I replied with that list. Then you came in and moved the goal post to which are launching, basically taking my reply out of context and re-framing into a complete different question.

But, it is looking like the Xbox might not have traditional killer launch game, but games such as Flight Simulator, Gears Tactics, and The Medium will carry it till Halo or Forza release the following year, we also don't know if there are any more 2nd party games that are set to be launched early next year. Xbox is just starting to catch up with the studios they acquired.

There might be some truth to that, but I would not go as far as say that MS got anything yet.

One thing is for certain and undeniable their strategy is significantly better that Sony's and its not even close. When you look at the complete approach and vision from Xbox you can clearly see what their objective was and they executed it to perfection. They nailed the friendly pro-consumer narrative from the Series S price point, back compatibility, GamePass Ultimate with Xcloud and EA Play, and even to something like financing packages that are simply unmatched while still offering also the most powerful console for the Ultimate gaming experience.

Sony simply went with the traditional approach, which they have been extremely successful with, but maybe this time around a more daring and innovative approach was neccessary.

Flight simulator is not a broad title. It is literally for people interested in flight simulation. like you can actually almost get legit experience doing flight simulator for actually flying. Gears tactics is a RTS/Xcom type game thats not super broad either.

Medium looks like it could fit that Alan wake type of mold and be a sleeper hit to be honest. It looks really cool.

If we are talking true AAA titles, you got HZD:FW and GT7 and neither of those have dates and will come out the following year most likely just like Halo and Forza. Spiderman is the only consoles exclusive with mass appeal from the launch titles, but after that there aint really much for either consoles to is going to get people hyped to get next generation consoles.

In that sense I agree. After hyping up their May show as "Next gen begins" it ended up being a joke with no gameplay. Their first party showcase in July was a disaster with their reported $500 million Halo launch title looking like something out of 2014. At the very least this week was a "win" for them in that nothing went wrong besides the leak.

I think the trick for Xbox is to not show any games and only focus on hardware and subscription services. Once they start trying to show actual video games everything falls apart.
