Yeah, the whining about licensing is hilarious. As if Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft can control media-rights to stuff they don't produce/own.
Or they could say to Twitch/everyone your app can't be approved unless it works in all English speaking markets (minimum)
Twitch isn't even trying.
Twitch on iPad and iPhone is horrible, and it's been messy as hell on my PC as well.
Doesn't sound like you've used the iOS app recently. Its been updated and works really well now.
If you're on Android, try Streamie. Works like a champ (you do have to install Flash). Not sure of good alternatives on other platforms.
does it need a us gold account to download it?
If you like ads, no search, only top 300 channels and the chat never connecting then sure, iOS app is great...
Pretty big news. Does this mean the FGC will mostly be on Xbox in the upcoming generation?
Yup.
Laughable.
Why? What business functions that way? "Hey, let's deprive our largest market of something because we can't get it licensed for other areas. Sorry, Netflix, but we're not adding you until you can work in Fiji."
I sound like a broken record at this point, but the deal Sony has with UStream on the PlayStation 4 is not exclusive, and we don't deal in exclusives when it comes to our apps, either. We want a Twitch app on everything. How else can one achieve world domination?![]()
Well this will make for a fun Evo at least. It's a shame it's limited to top 300 channels though.
- Top 300 channels only

Why is this a problem? Last I checked, the top 20 games held 80 of the traffic on twitch, leaving 280 channels for speed running and obscure bullshit with single digit viewers watching them.

As someone who does not watch the top 20 unless one of them is spooky and spends most of his time watching speed runs live people with viewer counts ranging from 20 to 200 most of the time, it's a problem.
Long as you can watch people you follow (since there is no search option) it's not so bad.
Wow, that's pretty harsh. Honestly, it's a little tiring to see SC2, LOL, DOTA 2 dominate. Those single digit channels sometimes offer something different.
Well I don't really have any interest in Dota 2, LoL, Starcraft, WoW, or Minecraft, so right off the bat, there's a ton of channels I would never watch.
I'd be much more interested in "obscure bullshit" honestly.
Prepare to hear this for the 90% of "great" Durango services.
It's a start. The Apps tend to evolve over time.

Everyone knew this was going to be Gold exclusive, but the Top 300 channels only really does kill a lot of interest for me. That said, there are quite a few Xbox apps that started out absolute shite and have improved drastically since their release (Youtube, VEVO, Last.FM), so it has potential.
Is there some business or $$$ reason for the Top 300 limitation?
Twitch already does this on their own.My guess would be to be able to monitor and police those channels. I expect them to go hard after those who play pre release games.
Of course you can watch those. Streams for majors regularly break and stay in the top 10, with the bigger weekly streams definitely making at least the top 50.Unless I can watch fighting game streams, this app is worthless to me.
