Uncharted 4 runs at 1080p and targeting 60fps

I don't go digging for your posts but already called you out on that thread only on memory alone. Keep on making sensationalist posts though. It seems you re good at that. I don't ignore anyone but I have 2 eyes and 2 ears. I read and ingest a lot and often don't comment. Your posts sometimes come up and make me shake my head. I don't have to point these things out a lot and that's why I myself don't try to have overreactions or hyperbolic statements.

If you think you want to line up the future downgrade thread then put it on your calender. I don't even think it's important as ND is a world class dev.

That's swell

Can a PS4 not playback pre-recorded footage?

Heh, I admire your enthusiasm. Tomorrow it is then.

Cutscene in NaughtyDogs games are usually pre recorded.
But cutscenes in NaughtyDogs do look like gameplay and allow for a seamless transition between Gameplay and Cutscene.
They are prerendered so that loading the next area can be done while watching the cutscene, so you can play without waiting while the game loads.

But really, ND should say if it's realtime visuals or in-engine like uncharted/tlou

Amir0x, did they say in the interview that this is what we should expect from the visuals or that it was simply running in-engine?

yes, but they specifically said:

We’re targeting 60fps for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and as you can see, the visual fidelity for our character models will reach new heights. In fact, thanks to the power of PS4, right now Drake’s Uncharted 4 model is over double the polygons of Joel from The Last of Us PS3.

They're saying that's an exact indication of the character model we're going to see. And that's before we even get the interview.

My understanding of things was that in-engine means it's running in real-time using the engine, but it's not gameplay. Hasn't that always been what that means?

Not necessarily. Words are a funny thing.

All in-engine means is that they didn't create this on some render farm by hand using assets not in possible by the game's engine.

TLOU and Uncharted had cutscenes rendered in-engine but were a bit much for the PS3 to handle smoothly in realtime. So, in-engine but rendered to an fmv to be played vacant our consoles.

Nothing personal. I'd say the same thing if you came on GAF mumble. I'm a nice guy who just takes things as I would in reality. That's why it's best to be yourself as much as possible instead of internet persona. Don't lose sleep over it, I'm not.

I wonder if they'll go with real time cutscenes this time around. They were already pushing 50GB on PS3 because of the video files and all real time at this fidelity would help save a lot of space.

There is no way drake is 100k polygons when he has this amount of detail

Especially when the dark sorcerer is 1 million polygons

Yet Drake looks better?? How?

By jarring I don't mean it's offensive to me or I'm getting physically ill at all. I just mean it's surprising. Unexpected. I can get used to 60fps as soon as I play it, but from first impression based off that trailer I thought it looked weird. I'm all for 60fps if they can hit it and keep it smooth, I just wasn't expecting it from Uncharted. :P

I agree....weird seeing CGI quality visuals at 60fps. Our brains are wired to expect 24fps for such quality.

Ignore the other guy. He's just being argumentative and hilariously arguing with himself.

No my man, that's just how you're interpreting it.

Ok look. All I'm saying is that I don't expect that fidelity (ultra high poly grass, lighting, insane character model, liquid physics, and volumetric mist/fog) to be present at that same time at 1080p at 60fps. I just dont, and I think that's a safe bet.

Until I'm convinced other wise, it's all carefully worded hot air.

It's in-engine with a character model that's double the complexity. That doesn't tell us anything Amir0x.

Holy shit at those visuals. I almost literally cannot believe that this is realtime, in-game. It's like the reaction the first time i saw the trailer for God of War III for PS3. Except, except...this is like another level altogether. This is like actual CGI realized in game form if this in fact is what the game will look like.

I'm really liking the sort of lanky, cragged Nate in the trailer. Makes for a more interesting silhouette than previous Drakes imo.

Listen, if you want to ridiculously be skeptical, that's on you. You're talking to the king skeptic. And there's no way this game is going to be 60fps no matter what anybody says.

But this was not CG. At all

Water trickling down his nose too while he got up.

These little tiny details are a waste of resources in a gameplay scenario because people would hardly notice them from the regular camera angle

Not only that:.

Look how he pressed the sand with his wet forearm and thus making the pressured sand area wet too. Better dream to get such details even in movies, let alone games.

Look at how his nose and mouth are dipping water strings so realistically.

Lol I noticed sth else, the fly even rubs her fore legs together like in real life. Sth alone that would surrender CGI movie makers

Ridiculously skeptical? You say that as an active participant in today's hobby? Ok then, it's on me, whatever that implies. In any event, I won't feel upset with the final product.

Fine fine not CG. Poor choice of words by me.

I simply meant not indicative of how the game is going to look. Also, very likely not realtime (unless there's a lot of trickery and cheats with the scenary, but who cares looking that good).

You yourself are already questioning their capability by giving in on the 60fps target.

Did anyone else catch the "for we receive the due rewards of our deeds" inscription on the skeleton's cage at the end of the trailer?

I googled it and it from Luke 23:41

at 60 FPS, he moves so normally, made hum feel so human, I cna safely say that this the first 3D project that reached the first step to bypass the uncanny valley and it is a honour for us gamers to be a game that idi it INGAME even bfroe CGI movies.

I'd believe the same thing about the cutscenes in uncharted 2 and 3. Captured on the engine rendered by a PS3*

*at 15fps recorded to a 30fps fmv

I don't care what Naughty Dog says about this particular render, the full game will nor maintain that level of detail, full guns blazing.

If I'm wrong, then I fucking win anyway.
If you're wrong. You should be demoted.

The Order doesn't have it's temporal solution or shader AA solution applied yet.

Ah, alright. Well, should be interesting to see if they can pull it off altogether.

I definitely know it's not CG, but at this fidelity, there's no way it's going to hit 60fps. I'll eat all sorts of crow if it does.

Naughty Dog must be flattered to read everyone claiming this is CGI.

One of the most impressive videos I've ever seen at E3 from a visual standpoint. I haven't been this taken aback since... I really can't remember.

I just hope this is what we can truly expect from the game and not some pre-rendered nonsense.
