^Yeah, good point. Obviously they'll have parts of both books in both seasons.
Book 4 in particular does have its lengths which might bore people who are now used to the action and drama that SoS provided. I am wondering if they are going to address that by compacting the story or by adding new story lines.
Oh man I think there's PLENTY of stuff that would both be interesting on the show and wouldn't bore the readers
-- Oldtown could be BAD ASS.
-- Cersei sucks at running KL, dealing with debt (cutting back to Braavos and showing Arya, naturally), dealing with new religious fervor, etc. Her entire arc will be fucking fascinating.
-- The Temptation of Margery
-- Battle at Dragonstone
-- Jamie in the Riverlands, Lady Stoneheart, Brienne, introducing Sam's dad...
-- No idea what they'll do with Sansa since they compressed her arc at the Eeyrie, but if her sultry i'm-now-a-badass reveal is any indication it will freaking RUUUULE.
-- The big gamechanger is what they'll do with the kingsmoot in the Iron Islands. That could be interesting and could be a nice mid-season megaton if Euron/Daario has any credence. Will also be interesting to see how/if they reflect King's Landing's new religious fervor with some of the Drowned Men (and obv with the Red God or w/e his name is). In fact the one thing I'm wondering how they'll handle is GRRM's clear skepticism/rebuke of religion in general. I think the Iron Islands and the parallels with the born again crowd could be fantastic.
-- The Sand Snakes, Myrcella, Oldtown/Citadel, the entire Quentin arc are all perfect and ripe to be mined for the show
-- Depending on where they end with Jon, we still have to deal with him becoming HC, Stannis losing his mind up there, Melisandre, sending Samwell and Aemon to the Citadel (and that entire arc in Braavos).
-- The ARYA arc is going to be freaking PERFECT. Joining the faceless men, warging back home (and seeing LSH?), her going blind.
I can imagine next season's finale with Sam arriving in Oldtown, Cersei getting scourged, Arya going blind. Could be amazing (and I didn't even mention Dany, Theon/Bolton, Winterfell, Littlefinger, or Varys).
