cause it runs like crap, did you people forget? This is also adding more content to the intro
Considering the type of game i thought it wasn’t a huge deal. Would it be better if it performed well, 60fps+ and son on?

Sure, but not at $60+tax or €70.

These people have no idea that this movie unless it's complete trash will probably do really well on Netflix which will sell a lot of copies of the game.

I haven't played this as the genre of QTE based David Cage walking sims are not what I play, friends raining praises on the original game has me interested enough because I like the slasher genre in films, so I'll bite this on PC.

No way at full price though. Less than $20, so probably next year's summer sale.

Does this have co-op/splitscreen co-op or just strictly single player only?
If you liked 90s slasher revival stuff like Scream and I know what you did last summer it's so up your alley. I remember before I switched careers years ago I actually described the game as such to a customer from Best Buy and she was all over that

Imagine a world where Sony has no competition....

The Block Omg GIF by Celebrity Apprentice Australia

Don't worry, people still have pc and switch to go to and if they choose pc they will never go back to sony.

by that logic, sotc, demon souls, and even TLOU1 would be just remasters.

p.s they have changed the camera angles to third person in some scenarios and changed others to better showcase the new graphics. they have also added a prologue. its no RE4 but its better than those remasters we got last gen like the uncharted trilogy, tlou hd remaster and batman arkham remasters.

Even with all this, it should still be $50.

Well its £10 vs $4.35(at it highest rate)
So no, it isn't okay.
This is digital though, does it have a physical release?
It's the same price as Astro Bot which is €70/$60 digitally.

We'll find out on Aug 21 if it will get a physical release.

Edit: The US price doesn't include sales tax, so if we remove the 20% VAT from the European price, it comes to €58, which is $64. That's a $4 difference from the $60 US price. Physical should be a tad cheaper if they plan on doing one.

Technically a remaster, since this is keeping the original game's story, voice acting, camera angles, etc. and just replacing the graphics and lighting.

it actually has new camera angles and there's a 3rd person camera too plus new locations.
More work has gone into this then say....TLOUPT1 which a lot of people defended as a remake when it was just a remaster.
The new 3rd Person camera alone will change the was it plays because you gonna need controls for that.
I'm gonna have to boot it up and remind myself how fixed those camera where

See last of us made sense the show would be used as a way to possible get people into the game.

But this I have no idea. As much as I loved it, it wasn't that popular and they are charging way too much for it.

They're making a Film and Ballistic Moon is said to be making a sequel that didn't get made originally because Supermassive tried to shop around for a better deal...
Ballistic Moon are Ex-Members of Supermassive Games that worked on the original.

Sony is planning a movie based on the IP. This remake is the one thing they want people to play once the movie releases, not the crusty old 2015 game:
In January 2024, Sony announced a film adaptation of the game. The adaptation is to be directed by David F. Sandberg with Gary Dauberman doing a pass on a script originally written by Blair Butler. The film is set to be produced by Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions.[75] In June 2024, Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, and Odessa A'zion joined the cast in undisclosed roles.[76] In July 2024, Maia Mitchell and Belmont Cameli joined the cast in undisclosed roles, with Peter Stormare joining the cast to reprise his role as Dr. Alan J. Hill.[77] Filming started on 5 August 2024.[78]

There's a movie coming soon, and Until Dawn has a dedicated following that will be all over this.
Forum people have this weird thinking that consumer products should only target what they deem to be a relevant audience; never forget that folks at GAF and ERA were wondering why Sony was bothering with a Helldivers sequel in the first place.

There is actually nothing wrong with the original, I think it still looks great now.
But people will ignore a game from a decade ago. but a new release? Remake or Not they'll give it a go if they haven't played it before.
This is something people don't seem to understand.

I actually played the game for the first time on PS5 at 60fps so i loved the experience. But from a market perspective the remake just makes sense, like TLOU1 (which was a hit).

People don't realize companies nowadays have data about all sorts of gaming behavior. These remakes work, aren't as expensive to make as new games and make money, specially since they release these games in more than one platform.

thing is, as long as that 'crusty' 9 year old version that still looks/plays fine is still available on the ps store for $19.99, some people just may not want to play the $59.99 version (I mean, they wouldn't delist it, would they?)...

other 2015 'crusties but goodies': bloodborne, witcher 3, mgs: phantom pain, fallout 4, dying light...

Imagine believing that anyone will switch platforms over this, especially to the one with a $60 Wii HD port coming in January.

Initial post said imagine sony not having competition. I said it's no problem we have others places to play games and you carry on with no one will switch platforms over it.

Exactly, because it’s new and shiny.

This is why it makes sense.

People who haven’t played it (like myself) or even remember much from the ps4 game 9 years ago will get this. Especially, the new younger gens.

Bloodborne plays like shit in 2024...it always did tbh. Barely 30fps, etc...
Witcher 3 had got countless updates for this new gen.

Phantom Pain plays at 60fps, etc.

Until Dawn never had excelent gameplay and aged bad from that perspective even if visuals look good.

This remake fixes that.

not all games need 'excellent' gameplay. the original's gameplay is quite satisfactory. &, afa the remake fixing it? let's wait & see, eh?...

All of TW3's updates were free, Until Dawn also runs pretty much a locked 60 on PS5's and some might find the change from a fixed camera presentation to over-the-shoulder a downgrade. 🤷‍♂️

The Aussie price jumps off the page, $109. With EB mark up will be $120+

The digital release will be just as expensive, which makes zero sense. For what exactly?
Yeah Aussie prices are a joke.
Although it being £59.99 which is obviously the digital price we can probably get it physically for £49/£55
I've already seen it for £56.
Actually hoping for a nice Deluxe Edition or something but Sony has been slacking lately with barebones releases.

And yet Concord is launching pretty soon ... hope their data dosent fail them.
And what's exactly wrong with Concord, I'm genuinely curious as I know nothing apart from the very generic Guardians of the Galaxy trailer they showed.
Does it have bad gameplay, bad graphics, poor performance, etc

Oh I couldn't give too fucks about this game I dont play mp/gaas.. Im only seeing the threads about failed betas, poor receptions, even the biggest gaas lover on gaf didnt liked.

And of course the over abundance of DEI

This is a remake not a remaster. They had to remake the whole thing on Unreal Engine 5 plus added new stuff and a new camera. People sure don't seem to mind paying $60 for lazy ports like DKC Tropical Freeze or Super Mario 3D All Stars. I mean Nintendo couldn't be bothered to even get those games running in 16:9. At least Sony puts work into their remasters/remakes
