The difference is that Pence and Kaine aren't running for President. Trump and Clinton are.

Kaine had the license to constantly and relentlessly call out Trump on all his loaded statements and keeping going back to that well.

Hilary won't be able to do so relentlessly on Sunday but I think it was mission accomplished.

uh, most people thought hillary won the debate not because trump cut her off, but because she destroyed him with actual facts and trump was awful

Because he successfully turned the debate into a referendum on the Clinton/Kaine ticket.

The little zingers like "Oh you must have really practiced that," combined with his poise and composure, left a very strong impression.

It's also worth noting that the CNN instant poll for the last debate actually turned out to have almost exactly the same result as the actual properly done polls(with proper ratios of each party) later.

Pence mostly kept his own ship safe.

Isn't it good that Kaine interrupted ? Therefore Pence was thrown off guard and cannot just relentless attack Clinton for 90 minutes. Pence was on defense the whole night and therefore this week up to Sunday will not be about Clinton but Pence not defending anything Trump said?

If you're thinking in debate terms I would definitely say Pence won, but this is a presidential election where people are voting on the top of the ticket and Pence couldn't defend Trump at all. Kaine had a goal coming into the debate and I think he won. If that was a top of the ticket debate though, that would not have a been a good performance. I still don't think Kaine is very well suited to that kind of role as he is way too nice

His running mate is a disaster, and still he managed to sound confident. His answers were thoughtful and articulate - not to mention they came off more natural than the canned stuff that Kaine brought with him.

If Pence were running by himself and not with Drumpf, I might actually listen to what he had to say.

Pence is out of a job come November. Unless he gets back into the Senate or House, he loses the visibility of being in office.

Yup. It's all calculated. Kaine loses on optics here but he made sure that he got his licks in on Donald Trump. Mike pence's priority tonight was "make Mike Pence look good"

people that like trump for trump aren't going to like pence for pence. moderate republicans can probably dig up one the corpses from this primary and i'm sure being trump's running mate will have that shit thrown at him every time.

also, you'd be listening to a man who hates gays and apparently thinks that women shouldn't be allowed to choose for themselves.

Maybe on GAF, but from reading comments on articles and such most people believe he was being a jerk. Real world is GAF...outside of it is for entertainment and I do not mean that in a sarcastic manner.

Bullshitter spinner reacher. I'd be ashamed to say the things she does. She is probably earning a ton of dirty money but I wouldn't sell my honesty for all the money in the world.
