Democrats need to lay off the Trump/Putin lovefest. It makes them sound as crazy as Trump saying "30,000 emails" every 5 minutes.
Guess what? 30000 emails thing is working. Democrats need to do more of this if they want to win. At this point the fight is not for well educated voters but for idiots who still can't decide.

Pence in 2020 seems real, but how does he back down from having supported Trump?

Won't he be nailed for being on this ticket?

Honestly, whatever shakes out from this debate, it will all be forgotten after the next one when Trump goes on for two minutes about how fat Alicia Machado is.

Pence won if you "watched with the sound off", as they say. Kaine won on content.

It's a damn shame that most Americans have the sound off in their heads even if the TV sound is on.

It's kind of hysterical that Pence is the VP and Trump is the POTUS canidate after comparing their debate performances. Pence is a piece of shit, but he obviously knows how to handle politics far better than Trump.

I wonder what their relationship is like. Like if Pence just kind of hates Trump and is just using him to possibly get his own ticket one day, and if Trump thinks he's really the top dog and really likes to make Pence know that. And Pence just takes it. Like a cartoon duo where the sidekick really is the hero that always cleans up the main character's mistakes.

I thought Kaine did exceptionally well during the segment that I watched (from the talk of the charitable foundations). Also, CBS had some sort of Republican organized Republican led panel of "undecided" voters.

This is bullshit. Russia is actively trying to meddle with the US election. That shit needs to be called out at every opportunity.

Completely different that this beat to death and investigated with no wrongdoing email situation.

Unless I'm just missing it, there is no actual evidence that this is true yet. Other than the Clinton campaign, the only sources the news organizations are using are "anonymous sources". I would like some actual evidence of this, other than the Clinton campaign saying it. (Honestly I want to believe it, but I have just heard zero credible evidence).

Yeah so a tie.

We will forget about all this on Sunday though lol. Can't wait for the 2nd debate.

If I had (HAD) to pick a winner, I'd go 51% Pence, 49% Kaine.

Both did tremendous jobs for their guy/gal. But Kaine's constant changing the subject (instead of waiting for clear opportunities to attack Trump) and interrupting seemed a little too desperate and anxious. It didn't look great.

Almost no questions were answered in depth. Kaine would briefly answer a question in the opening few words of his response while Pense would never answer the question until the follow up (giving him 3 minutes to answer instead of the usual 2)

Well, that's because Trump isn't an experienced politician (still can't believe Pence said that).

Thank you. Can we all admit that if you're undecided at this point, you either shouldn't be voting or just a complete idiot. Simple talking points is the right way to go in my opinion.

You know the weird thing...if this ticket was flipped and Pence was running for POTUS and Trump was running for VP, the GOP might have a winner on their hands.

And do you really think people are going to watch this and go, wow, I think I must vote for Trump just cause Pence was a good debater? Give me a break.

Pence won presentation. Tim won substance. But Trump took a lot of damage which was clearly Kaine's main goal tonight. Hillary escaped this debate without really getting hit.

I think Nate Silver tweeted that Pence "won" the debate but Kaine won the post-debate debate.

TBH it makes sense now... Kaine pulled out a tie between them by forcing Pence into throwing Trump under the bus. The quotes Kaine busted out on Trump are gonna make the rounds.

It won't matter.

2020 will be Hillary's to lose. The demographic trends are just way too strong.

Not to mention the man falls apart once you start looking at his failed policies. He's benefits from the fact the focus is just on Trump.

Moderator sucked. She tried to insert herself too often and too rigidly. Unless you can cut mics, fighting over time and time reminders just messes up the debate's flow.

That'll work really well against Clinton. I'm sure she'll forget all that.

Kaine certainly didn't forget any of the shit Trump's been spewing for the past year, but that didn't stop Pence from pretending it didn't happen. I don't think its a good strategy, but it seems to be all Pence has.

I liked this side of him.

He needs to refine his fervor a bit, but I think he effectively drove Pence into a corner and kept him there almost the entire debate.
Yeah, he'll be even more effective once he polishes his technique. Who knew Kaine had that fire in him though? I know he must have gone through hell to prepare, but I've never seen someone swat down pro-Trump talking points in such rapid fashion with specific fact-based responses. He's a lean mean bullshit killer. For all the hot air Pence tried to spout, he found himself spitting ice cubes.

Said this in PoliGAF:

Pence might "win" the debate, but he did so at a price. Because he's going to lose every fact check on this debate. Every. Single. One.

And him denying every charge against Trump (even the shit EASILY disproven) has given #TeamClinton PLENTY of fodder to take onto the campaign trail.

Pence lost the long game tonight.

Pence is Starscream and Trump is Megatron. It's that simple.

Pence won if you "watched with the sound off", as they say. Kaine won on content.

It's a damn shame that most Americans have the sound off in their heads even if the TV sound is on.

The rest of the news from now until Sunday will be dissecting the content, though. Kaine did good in constantly bringing up shit that Pence would deny and lie. Yes he sounded like a broken record but it's gonna give fact-checkers a field day for the rest of the week.

Getting Pence to say "look, Trump is not a polished politician" is essentially him admitting defeat. It's the weakest possibly thing you can say when defending a politician.

Yeah, Nate Silver's tweet was immediately obvious to me.

Except that a lot of the people on the fence don't care about facts.

They care more than you think. If they didn't care about facts they'd be on th Trump train already. For the demos that Trump still has to win (women, minorities, college educated young whites) the substance absolutely matters.
