Trump campaign continuously pretending the 'basket of deplorables' line was anywhere near as bad as almost anything Trump has said is just baffling to me. Do they really think people buy that? Are people really buying that crap?

I'm afraid that ~40 million people buy it.

And it was an incredibly stupid thing to say.

Pence isn't Donald Trump, he's a typical evangelical conservative. He's not getting the Trump crowd, he's getting the traditional Republican crowd.

So you got the VP for trump and he will be going against clinton. You dont think he get their support? Really?

Pence looked calm cool and collected, kaine looked like a kid, throwing insults all day, and interrupting.

Which makes the irony of who runs for who especially funny.

Pence wins by default imo

I don't know why this woman in blue is in Frank Luntz's panel on CBS. It's clear she made her choice.

Fun facts many people don't know:
1) Most "undecided voters" won't vote
2) Most undecided voters who do vote weren't undecided when they came up as undecided
3) Most independents aren't even a little bit independent
4) Campaigns don't change many peoples' minds; mostly what they do is raise and lower enthusiasm of marginal supporters.

To be fair, how many people are truly undecided in this election?

The people you want to have in those panels are Gary Johnson and Jill Stein supporters. Those are the ones who will find their way to Trump or Clinton by November 8.

I listened to half the debate on the radio, the other half on TV.

Kaine won on radio, Pence on TV.

This.

I missed the first 20 minutes. But I listened about 30 minutes on the radio and the last 30 minutes on TV. I thought Kaine had a slight edge listening on the radio, but when I started watching on TV Pence looked calmer and more composed on TV.

And has been mentioned, Kaine interrupted way too much and repeated talking points too much as well. But the facts for the most part were on Kaine's side. Pence didn't even try to shine Trump's turds, he just pretended they didn't exist.

Interesting. That Frank Luntz poll that said that Pence won? It turns out all of them felt that way before they were polled.

I can't help but cringe at how biased CNN is against the Trump ticket, it's embarrassing.

It's not like CNN is falling all over themselves to be anti-Trump because they want a Democrat in office or they love Hillary. This all stems from the fact that Trump specifically is a joke and a disaster of a presidential candidate.

This isn't some conspiracy by the media because they love Hillary. This is a direct result of Trump doing and saying things that really would kill anyone else's presidential campaign whether they had an R or D after their name.

Pence ended up interrupting just as much as Kaine did.

And Kaine reminded him of his and Trump's past words. Pence completely failed to properly defend Trump, and when he actually tried he simply lied by saying he didn't say things despite there being very obvious record to the contrary.

Sounds to me like you're looking for any reason to declare Pence the winner :p Pence the "winner" based on interruptions alone? lol

Eric Trump denied Trump companies have any business dealings in Russia, but
“Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets,” Trump’s son, Donald Jr., told a real estate conference in 2008, according to an account posted on the website of eTurboNews, a trade publication. “We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia.”

I guess when Trump interrupted in the last debate it didn't matter?

Interrupting someone isn't as bad if you're bringing facts or a rational argument. Think of a prosecutor going in hard tearing apart someone testifying in court.

OTOH, interrupting someone to say Rosie O'Donnell is a fat, loser just makes you look like a stupid lunatic.

Undecided voters, aka the block of voters that debates are targetting.

It's mostly false that debates are targeting undecided voters (undecided voters at this point in the campaign are working hard to be undecided). 2012 is a great picture of what debates actually do, and what they did there was motivate base voters that were feeling unhappy or unsure.

But, again, I think the real question here is, what undecided voters are going to make up their mind by watching the vice presidential debate instead of, you know, the presidential debates?

Pence had the better poise I think...Captain Interruptus kinda got on my nerves with that. But, I guess there is just so much to hit on, it was tough for him to resist. Pence didn't have any defenses for the statements that Kaine made, because there are none. People have to keep in mind that just about everything levied against Trump is just shit that he has literally said.

I never said it was a conspiracy, but your point is well taken.

I agree with you, CNN is biased.

Trump, is that you??
🙄

Exactly what I was thinking

I realize there are a lot of political newbies every for years, and that's exciting, but there is ZERO chance of a Pence presidency in the future. The whole reason he accepted the VP gig is he is incredibly unpopular in his own state and has no political future.

After the bloodbath in November, anyone associated with Trump will be damaged good politically. Nobody with an actual future in there party (e.g. Kasich) wants any ties to the sinking USS Trump. Think of how easy it will be to destroy a Trump surrogate in the future.

Biased? They're not, Trump has said all the stuff that's being said about him. He creates the news. He's the gift that keeps on giving for these networks. Any other presidential candidate would be sunk by now, so I have to give him that.

Did he really say this? no way?

maybe we weren't watching the same debate.

I guess I watched a completely different debate. Twitter is destroying kaine for having the worst debate maybe ever.

Pence absolutely took him to town.

Are we on the same planet?

What Twitter accounts do you follow?

Kaine poured facts on Pence's head and all he could do was ramble

Well, Trump also lost because he completely collapsed in the second half, couldn't give a coherent answer on anything, attacked Rosie O'Donnell unprovoked because he felt like it, admitted to not paying taxes, got caught in multiple lies, and let Clinton get so deep under his skin that he started digging himself a hole right after the debate and hasn't stopped digging since. Kaine was a little bit rude but was coherent and easily bested Pence on substance. Therefore, tie. It's not that hard.

True. There is no debate here. I literally shut off the debate because I cringed so hard at his responses. That was brutal.

In 4 years we went from crazy that was Palin to Trump, who's not to say we'll up the ante in another 4 years?

I agree with you, CNN is biased.

Calling out Trump and his campaign on what is obvious bullshit is not "bias".

There's little use in insisting that everyone must remain exactly in the middle just for the pretension that they're being "impartial". Because when one of the two candidates is so far off their respective deep end, simply taking the average and putting the pin in the exact middle makes you go way further toward said fringe candidate. It's not nearly as neutral as you might think.
