I think those of you dismissing Pence as running in 2020 are forgetting that these Trump supporters are still going to be around for that primary as well.

He was, but his version of holding his own was blatantly lying. It only works if you only follow news sites that blantantly lie as well, all of the rest will be showing corrections. He also couldn't defend his candidate.

I think ultimately Kaine succeeded in keeping the focus on Trump's bullshit while Pence succeeded in looking better than Tim Kaine.

I guess I watched a completely different debate. Twitter is destroying kaine for having the worst debate maybe ever.

Pence absolutely took him to town.

all pence will be known for if he runs in 2020 is as the guy who ran with trump and lost. he gave up his reelection bid for governor to run as vice president. many people said that republicans wanted him to be vp because they weren't sure he was going to win his reelection campaign since he is unpopular in indiana. nobody is is going to care about him in 4 years.

Watching this as someone outside of the US I can't comprehend how Pence isn't top of the republican ticket, he was obviously playing a defensive game but he comes across 100x more presidential than Trump to me.

The fact that CNN is grilling kid trump right now on Taxes is why a iffy Kaine performance won't be a big deal (like most VP debates)

Which is funny because he would probably lose his gubernatorial race this year. He was toxic in his own state for following a governing strategy that put his and his supporters own social values ahead of the interests of the people of Indiana, most notably in the areas of LGBT rights and abortion. Perspective is a hell of a thing.

Kaine gave Pence little jabs but didn't go after the multitude of things he could go after Pence on because that wasn't the point. The point was to make Trump look bad. He wasn't great at it but he did make the point that Pence really didn't stand up and defend his running mate while Kaine took a couple of minutes in a topic to defend Hillary.

Yep, you did. I watched the debate where Pence completely failed to defend Trump and to throw him under the bus by saying "he's not a polished politician" as his only defense for Trump's shit statements throughout his campaign.

Well, Trump also lost because he completely collapsed in the second half, couldn't give a coherent answer on anything, attacked Rosie O'Donnell unprovoked because he felt like it, admitted to not paying taxes, got caught in multiple lies, and let Clinton get so deep under his skin that he started digging himself a hole right after the debate and hasn't stopped digging since. Kaine was a little bit rude but was coherent and easily bested Pence on substance. Therefore, tie. It's not that hard.

But Faux News is accurate. I mean, Sean Hannity works there as a reporter and then this election cycle said he never was. Also, the ironic catch phrase of "no spin zone" or whatever they advertise Fox News as when it is completely as right as you can get short of Breitbart.

Like I stated, Tim was a facts checking machine tonight. He didn't have to tell people to facts check, he did it on his own. I'm surprised at how well he was able to recite information on the Trump campaign.

Pence was lying like hell, but he came off as a stable person. I think Kaine had to interrupt him, to facts check him on the spot. He did a great job IMO. Started off terrible, but ran away with it in fourth quarter.

I love his piece on women making their own decisions as it pertains to abortion. They won some votes off of this one.

Undecided voters hated Kaine bringing up Tax Returns. They had no problem with Pence bringing up emails at all.

Pence isn't Donald Trump, he's a typical evangelical conservative. He's not getting the Trump crowd, he's getting the traditional Republican crowd.

Exactly what does the media have to press Clinton about tonight? That Kaine interrupted to much? Who cares. The media will be asking Trump and Pence and their surrogates why didn't Pence stand up for Trump.
