WB and DC,

Ben definitely not in the highs but I feel he wanted to act-only from the start, I didn't even payed attention to his "otherwise I wouldn't do it" in interviews, I think in background he passed it earlier.
He did good thing in early time, we still have 1.5 years for release.
Now WB don't put David Yates on this, let him fucking choose the man.

So, surely WB isn't going to let Flash and Aquaman start filming until they see how Justice League does, right? If that movie turns out bad, it has to be the point they put the brakes on the whole thing, right? I feel like they've already done enough damage to where if they don't right the ship quick, even the Batman franchise is going to have to go back into hibernation for some years. And all the other characters will just be fucked.

As long as it makes a good chunk of money they'll carry on I suspect.

Because at the end of the day, the movies are still profitable.

Its stunning to me how terribly DC is handling their movies franchises. Makes it all the more amazing how Marvel continues to poop out blockbusters like a well oiled machine.

I think if it doesn't make more than BvS, some shit will happen. Yeah, BvS made money, but there's zero chance they weren't expecting more. That movie should have been a guaranteed billion dollar movie. JL not crossing a billion would be a monumental failure, and I think would result in some changes.

Marvel has a single producer who is the ultimate creative force with the final say on every decision.

WB is a classic example of "Too many cooks spoil the soup." Especially when many of them have never made a soup in their lives.

Jesus the entire DCU has just been hot mess after hot mess.

And what's crazy is they have the stable of some of the most well known heroes ever. And they just can't keep this shit together

Sounds like it's just a lot of work to act and direct the movie.

Maybe it's just hard to do both things?
Well yeah. Go look at The Appendices of LotR and The Hobbit. Directing movies of that scale can burn a stress hole in your brain. Ben just finished directing a dud after his marriage went to shit and he's been working on JL while also promoting the Accountant. His workload is crazy so it's smart to, you know, share the load with someone else.

But perspective isn't allowed here. Go back to posting memes and doomsday theories about WB. It's easier and you get a few laughs.

The key is in op.

They are trying to make the best thing possible. Too much studio input. Too many focus groups. Too many chefs. It's why they fail over and over.

They are trying to hard to replicate marvels success. Which while is under the eye of the studio, they seem to let a vision sit and simmer. Vs opening the lid every second and adding salt.

I'm sure there is far too much pressure working on a DC movie with their failures overshadowing every decision, adding to the micromanagement.

It would be different to just let Ben do his thing and trust that you hired the right person. You don't hover behind a proven carpenter.

One day they'll figure this out. Until then.. a possible stinker with shit editing seems likely. Again.

🙄 Then what was that whole paragraph you wrote? lol..

Let WB do the damage control.

Building it off of Man of Steel certainly was.
Yep that is literally the core of the problem.

I really did not like MoS, but looking at it as a standalone film it was an attempt to be a 'realistic' take on superpowered characters, and somewhat of a deconstruction of the genre.

But you cannot make a fun team franchise universe from that.

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
Maybe because his recent film bombed hard? Doesn't sound necessarily related to the rest of the DC universe collapsing (though that certainly seems to be happening).

More than likely, but it really wasn't Ben's fault for that bombing (okay, it kinda was). I don't think Batman would've bombed hard if 1) the movie was good and 2) the movie was good.

Word of Mouth would've carried Batman more than Ben Affleck's directorial skills would.

Let Kevin Smith direct it, fuck it. At least it'll be different.

Honestly, that'd be kinda funny..

He is but considering Thunderdome's sequel took nearly 30 years to come to fruition, I'm not going to hold my breath. It'll happen when it happens.

lol..True. Damn, I'm getting old.

The Wachowski's are still under contract at Warner, might as well give it to them. Their due for a hit.

Nah..keep them on Netflix.

ERMYGERD!
Kevin Smith knows his comics, knows how to translate them to the screen, he understands the essence of a character, he's in no way fit to direct a Batman movie in the current DCEU.
