Picked up Ridge Racer because of the sale. Damn. Namco really blew this. Ridge Racer with trophies. It's still a ton of fun to play. I did everything imaginable, as far as unlocking content, in Ridge Racers and Ridge Racer 2 on PSP. But, even with the add-on content, which I haven't bought yet, but even WITH it, there's a total dearth of content. And it looks like they're done adding anything to it. What a shame. A once proud franchise, reduced to this.

I haven't seen anyone get so excited over a game since Carl discovered MBA. Is it really that good?

You have noooo idea. I stand by my choice of words that its the best turn based MP 1vs1 game (aside from classics as Chess). Once you dig into how it actually works, it blows your mind how you trying to read your enemy and the tools at your disposal can intertwine to create genius mastermoves. I honestly feel like the master puppeteer at times when I get the enemy to do exactly what I want and then sneak up from behind and take him out before he even knows that he already lost.

There are many, many tactics to try with rather simple methods.Actually, I think thats the beauty of it. Although I wouldnt mind more items, different grenades and whatnot, its actually already super deep with just whats in there now. Once you finally understand how to play it properly, its such a fantastic, fantastic experience. 250 hours of playtime for me atm, but I havent played much in 2012.

GOTY 2011 btw, although Skyrim was close behind.

Some older screenshot, looks cleaner now, but just to get an idea:

And this is rather representative when playing against a good player:

ANYWAYS... hospital/Doc/Rx bills have basically killed my fun funds and just a few days ago i found my vita.. on the ground.. and my 3 year old daughter had apparently found our super glue and left a giant mf'ing glob on my Vita screen. It's now hardened and i'm trying to come up with ways to get it off without fucking my screen sideways. Alcohol swabs/solvent of sorts is my first thought but i don't want to mangle my pretty screen (might be too late for that anyways).

Wow... I hate to say it but I'm not sure how to safely remove that :( That's why I always have a screen protector on mine. Mine saved my Vita's screen from a hammer! Also really sorry to hear about your wife too, hope everything turns out ok!

Why wouldnt it if the superglue is on top of the protector and not between the foil and the Vita?

So... I ask... ideas? tips? I'll be checking this weekend for any warranty saftey net i might have as an option but i almost never take that shit from gamestop and i know sony won't hook it up via the kindness of their heart.

And I am so fucking looking forward to this year with my glowing friend. :( all the sads.

According to this site, saliva will lift superglue in 1-2 days, and I suspect that drool will (probably) not corrode the screen like acetone (probably) will. You will need to somehow keep the superglue mess soaked in drool, though.

Decided to pick up Dynasty Warriors Next since I've enjoyed One Piece Pirate Warriors so much (thank you, sale!). Anything I should know?
You bought Pirate Warriors? You gotta play with me sometime so we can get closer to dat coin trophy.

But as for tips, there isn't much too say. It's mindless fun with really gimmicky minigames. Conquest mode is awesome, though.

It'd have to be on my girlfriend's account. She's the OP fan and PS3 owner - it takes a lot of pushing to make me use it for anything other than Crunchyroll and Blue ray. Luckily, I stuck around as she played and yesterday and secretly played a bit today. Can't let her know I'm warming up to something on PS3.

And I'm glad it's fun. I just don't want it to be a downgrade from Pirate Warriors. Guess it's a hard genre to mess up on anyway.

Shit, I think I just realized something. Can anyone think of a way how to control FS with sticks? Was there ever a game called Tactics that was not grid based?

...ah well, it will still probably be good, but I shouldnt hope for too much in that regard.

Eppy Thatcher

God's had his chance.
It's maybe a quarter sized raised glob of the crap on the upper left corner of the game screen. And yes... if a screen protector is solid (like a cellophane liner or something) it would have been a good idea. Suppose I just didn't consider that my wife/daughter would combo smash the fucking thing with leaving it on the ground the delivering the DDT of superglue. She apologized over and over again mainly because she knew the kid got into the glue but didn't realize she got it on the vita. Would have got to it earlier and maybe saved me all this trouble if she had.

So yes... i'll get to work with slobbering all over the thing and attempting to work it off the screen. I was actually curious about the maybe already done damage to the screen ... as in could the bonding/drying/adhesive quality of the superglue have already damaged that area of the screen beyond any type of cleaning/repair??

And thanks for the well wishing to my lady Schob. Rewind 3 years ago and it's like a totally different person. Sickness/kid/new job/new house all in the span of a year. World is turvy topsy if I don't say so myself.

I love sonic but Mario 64 and Spyro 2 weren't so fast but more towards platforming.

edit: name me a good platformer that isn't fast.

I haven't play Bonk or Tomba. I've seen youtube videos of tomba and I just looking at it you can tell the gameplay is dated. Klonoa on the other hand is pretty good but the Playstation 2 Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil was fantastic.

Tomba games are not dated, if anything, it's way ahead of it's time and no other 2d platformer game ever match it since, but I'll admit this, Tomba will probably scratch the adventure gamers itch than pure platforming fans. although it did have some pretty challenging platformer on some area.

the game structure is really supporting the adventure genre, you get a lot of missions throughout the game and the solution isn't spelled out to you, by mid game or near the end of the game, I'm exploring all the game world trying to find the solution and the solution to the puzzles are actually pretty logical so it's not a random trial and error.

I've said it many times before, I wish there are more games following Tomba structure. it has all my favorite element in a video game, platforming, exploration, interesting world, simple but nice plot, some metroidvania element like getting new item and ability that unlock new areas etc.

For Konami Suikoden is dead IP, the fans should accept this reality and move on already.. let it rest in peace in dead games heaven.

there was a new suikoden game released last year...

Yeah I was trying to remember if that spinoff was last year or not.. I guess you could just say that Suikoden is dead to the West :(

Edit:

I popped in NFS: Most Wanted because despite just getting %100 in Motorstorm, I want to race again. It's such a good game though, if you guys are looking for one of the definitive racers on a handheld, NFS: Most Wanted is it. It's not native res and hence the jaggies but the performance is great.

Besides the one Toma mentioned, I love Loco Roco and LBP.

I love the slower pace of LBP and how it put's it emphasis in teamwork and attention to the environment. Since you are not an acrobat you have to pay a lot more attention to the environment instead of just jumping into every situation and expect to be able to get out of there 99% of the time.

We went off a bit off topic, I'll agree that some slower 2D platformers are good. But in the previous page I mentioned how I wanted Tearaway to more like Mario 64 and Spyro 2. Those are 3D games and had pretty fast gameplay.

Toto back me up.

platformers are like porn stars, each one has it's unique style and flavor, slow paced, fast paced, old school 3D with combat in them or pure jumping fest, 2D,2.5D they are all good as long as the jumping and physics and levels design are good.

I just read through the playstation blog post on tearaway, posted yesterday. The game sounds unbelievably good. I really can't wait for it to come out.

Classic adventure
Tearaway is an adventure in the truest sense of the term – a plucky young hero embarking on a noble quest in an unfamiliar, dangerous world. Think H Rider Haggard or Conan Doyle, shot through with a healthy dose of Terry Gilliam…

“To me ‘adventure’ means having a goal – the big quest of delivering this unique message – but it’s all the little surprises along the way that are really important,” says Rex.
“You’ll meet strange characters and learn about them. A whole mountain range folds up out of nowhere or a river appears – it’s slightly more like the old Odyssey-style stories, where someone is on a big quest and meeting all sorts of strange people along the way.”

YES PLEASE.

Wow, is that the portable version? No aliasing for the planning lines is really rough. :(

Still, I think the touch interface will be good, just have to fix the fucked maps for multiplayer.

I have a slightly amusing story.

Got a Vita on the $180 Amazon black friday deal. I have a PS+ sub. First PS+ game I completely finished/beat on it?

...

Chronovolt. I can't help but giggle a little. By popular opinion likely the worst Vita PS+ game yet, contending with Foosball for the bottom spot. And it's the first game I finish. Three starred every level too; got all the trophies except that one that requires you have a Vita friend. I thought it was pretty fun. Camera was sometimes clipping into platforms, and the framerate was a bit sad, but still fun. The first world was kinda boring. But the second and third ramped up the challenge. If you're not great at 3D platformer thingies, you might get too frustrated though. Most of the time it wasn't necessary to do any tricky moving with joystick while also using touch controls shenanigans. Also, definitely skip on the gyro controls and turn off back touch screen camera control.

If you like the single player of the Monkey Ball games, but with a slightly annoying camera and mediocre framerate, you might like Chronovolt. The story and writing are so bad, especially the ending. Well, it's hard to dislike a bare bones videogame story, but sometimes the writing made me laugh a little inside.

I'm just so tickled about this--no one else cares, but I had to share :D

P.S. If it helps, the first game I beat on Vita was Little Big Planet. Am I redeemed?

So what type of control you are using for Motorstorm RC ? The one that simulates an RC controller or the other one...

Would like to get the opinion of the guy who 100% it...

And btw I like the (anti) social aspect of the game... I get messages like "Dude 1" destroyed you on "track 1" or "Dude 2" pissed on your grave on "track 2".... okay okay I get that I suck at the game you don't have to say that 10 times when I log in... :)

I wouldn't defile my Vita screen with a protector just for the unlikely chance that it comes in contact with super glue or a hammer.

The devs are gonna print this post out and frame it. But (even tho I hated Chronovolt) this is one of the things I love about Vita. I've been addicted to video games for as long as I can remember - and Vita brings up this forgotten flavour of childish joy, the one that doesn't mind if the game has glaring flaws - you just play and have fun.

Hmm tried to 'register' my US account for that referral thing to see if I can get a $20 code, but it didn't accept my PSN username.
Is it ok for someone to reffer me please? My US PSN account is Todoh789.

at least they have something to buy, while the western side is a pure wasteland full of nothing right now(and it will be even worse in the upcoming months).

Hey, we're getting DOA5+, that's all that matters. Now I can fist Kasumi on the go.

With Persona I'm realizing I may actually like RPGs...Is there a Final Fantasy game on sale I should pick up and give a go? The only one I've played was Dissidia 012 and I know that it's completely different

To be honest I wouldn't mind a few ports of good games during these droughts. Like Ape Escape 3, SMT: nocturne, Warhawk, and Parappa the rapper 2 but that won't happen.

FFtactics is the best imo

After that its FF7 = FF7 > FF8 >FF4

Never played 6, but FFT is the best FF game you can get on the vita.

There have still only been two original RPGs for the Vita. The earlier posts about Japan having games is very true, but less if you've already played a lot of what's available.

I didn't play any of the games I listed above. And this didn't stop Persona 4.

edit: Make Warhawk and & Parappa 20 and below on PSN

Man, I really love NFS: MW. Unlocked a bunch of stuff for the Lamborghini Gallardo, really love that car. I think tomorrow I'll take a break and try to get further in Persona. Such a huge backlog @_@
