Bring back Mercury Steam.
Capcom wouldn’t be a bad choice.Capcom should give it a shot.
The castle in Re: Village gives off serious Castlevania vibes.
Castlevania Lords of Shadow 1, 2 and Mirrors of Fate were all better than Bloodstained. Igarashi is stuck in the 90's.Honeslty: Crawl back to Iga and promise him whatever. They have a better chance to win him back over than Kojima for MGS.
Bloodstained is good and all that, but its a cover band. (Note: A cover band that still pisses on any post Iga Castlevania)
Who could Konami realistically get that would make us a good original 3D Castlevania title?
Western devs released the first good Silent Hill game in 24 years. No western devs allowed.
From already did it with Bloodborne.I think the easy answer would be From Software. Doubt From would have interest though. Who could Konami realistically get that would make us a good original 3D Castlevania title?
Bloodborne was the castlevaniaI think the easy answer would be From Software. Doubt From would have interest though. Who could Konami realistically get that would make us a good original 3D Castlevania title?
AmenI’ll take pachinkos and collections forever rather than seeing From Software anywhere near Castlevania. Besides, Castlevania 2 was already basically a FS game - nonsensical NPC banter? Check. Having to do random stuff like dropping garlic in a graveyard to make a merchant appear, or holding a certain item and kneeling at a certain point to open up new areas? Check. Bullshit final boss that you have to cheese to even survive? Check.
Just imagine having to deal with Medusa heads with FS’s legendary lock-on. And I hope you like fall damage in your Castlevania.
Castlevania + Fromsoft ?
How is it that I never thought of that!?
I need.
It's Konami so try think like Konami.I think the easy answer would be From Software. Doubt From would have interest though. Who could Konami realistically get that would make us a good original 3D Castlevania title?
Both of the PS2 games were good.
I’d be all over a DMC/Bayonetta style Castlevania game and I think that’d be a great fit with loads of different weapons and combos and some very cool bosses.
So probably Platinum Games.
Lords of Shadow was the best Castlevania, 3D or otherwise.
The next entry needs to start here and iterate.
How about Bluepoint, with the Demon Souls Remake? From Software
What is this obsession with "rebooting"? Do you even remember the times when this expression didn't even exist in this context?
Why does everyone only dream about reboots (and remakes).
Fucking hell we are a stagnant species for some time now, at least in entertainment. We're the worst Homo Ludens ever.
Imagination is dead and burried...why not reboot that?
Better at being garbage, 100% agree.Castlevania Lords of Shadow 1, 2 and Mirrors of Fate were all better than Bloodstained. Igarashi is stuck in the 90's.
So they can patent whipping arses? Let's not.Give it to Nintendo.
Hear me out boys !
When playing Hogwarts, i cannot help myself thinking about how good a castlevania total conversion mod would be.
Everything and more is there.
First the character. Make a Belmont skin and reskin the spells to make them like whiplash. Exact same effects, just with a whip. Levioso could be a whiplash on the ground that make enemies fly, accio just a whip grab, etc..
Then the setting. Everything is there. I repeat EVERYTHING IS THERE. Little crooked town to start the journey (Hogsmead, check), countryside walk to the castle with a deep scary forest detour check, Huge magic castle that seems to change shape to accomodate whatever magic is at play there, super check.
Make a few hours long game where you start at a slightly reskinned Hogsmead, save a bunch of villagers from imps (reskinned gobelins) and skeletons (already there), and kill a few werewolves (reskinned poachers) on the way to the castle, with a detour to the forbidden forest to go get whichever macguffin is necessary to enter the castle.
Once at the castle, you can use all the mechanics already there (secret passages and whatnot) you only need to reskin stuff.
Go up the dark arts defense tower, fight Death. Fight your way from the great hall up to the dining hall, banish Dracula from this plane of existence, and watch as the sun rise on a land free from his immortal curse (or is it ?...)
You can use the flying mechanic by using the griffin and saying this particular Belmont is Doolittle Belmont and god gave him the power to talk to beast and heal them (can make a questline where you find the griffin somewhere in the forbidden woods and heal them).
There a lot of other stuff we could talk about but i am supposed to be working right now so i leave you with a few illustrations of what this dream game could look like
Disclaimer : Everything is a mix of in game footage and shitty ms paint, and does not represent the final quality of the product.
Imagine you're on your way to the castle and you see this bad boy in the distance
Evil is banished at last (don't forget to have dracula's bat form fly out in the distance!)
All of this to say, if i were the ceo of portkey games, i know what my next game would be !
I'd love to see Moon Studios take a stab at it, but 2D not 3D. The amount of visual storytelling they accomplished with Ori would be perfect for a Castlevania game, just darker in tone and less cartoony characters.
Painfully true. Bloodstained was offensively mediocre, and horribly unbalanced.Castlevania Lords of Shadow 1, 2 and Mirrors of Fate were all better than Bloodstained. Igarashi is stuck in the 90's.
I mean, they remade one of the most acclaimed Konami games ever. It would have been quite extraordinary to botch it. But apparently, now that the fears of it being bad have been assuaged, the narrative has completely reversed.Western devs released the first good Silent Hill game in 24 years.
From has technically been doing "Castlevania" since Demon's Souls.
Castlevania Bloodlines:
Demon's Souls Tower of Latria:
Both with the Gargoyle enemies.
Bloodborne, Bloodlines... I think it's more than a coincidence.
Especially considering when Shuhei spoke with Miyazaki about creating Bloodborne, he talked about the Tower of Latria in particular as being an inspiration for the direction of Bloodborne.
Damn, now that’s a good idea. Pandora’s Tower is criminally underrated.Pandora's Tower was a promising title that had the potential to grow into a 3D Castlevania had it received sequels.
I don’t see Inti Creates nailing the Castlevania vibe. Plus, their level design is usually lacking, and they often make their gameplay more cumbersome than your average Castlevania requires.Inti Creates for a 2D Castlevania; Santa Monica for a modern-cinematic Castlevania reboot.
I'm not a big fan of isometric view action gameplay, but at that point they could just go proper 3rd person I guess. I honestly didn't know that they made that game until right now lol.A Castlevania that looks and plays like their game No Rest For The Wicked would be amazing. Would you be okay with that kind of 3D?
I mean Dark souls pretty much is a 3D CastlevaniaI think the easy answer would be From Software. Doubt From would have interest though. Who could Konami realistically get that would make us a good original 3D Castlevania title?
