Who's cancelling their 3DS preorder and joining the winning team?

To old for this console war crap. Price and games what help me decide what systems to buy. The 3DS has me on both fronts. While the PSP2 is very nice indeed I've yet to see a price or any games I could want to play. Even then a 3DS is still begin bought. Both can coexist.

I played all of this already. I already was getting tired of ports on 3DS remake or not. This is a horrible situation imo.

Wow nice ban bait. Possibly buying both but this is the same thing that happened when PSP1 dropped. Look how that turned out.

EDIT: Actually yea. Cancelling my 3DS preorder and taking the money I was setting aside for the next PSP to build a gaming PC.

Hey, what's the difference between PSP2 and 3DS? Yeah that's right.. a 3D screen for 3DS, and two analog sticks, next-gen infrastructure and graphics for PSP2.

Which one of these sounds like the better deal for games?

Wow...same exact kind of posts that happened for the DS and PSP lol. You only have to really change the consoles and change 3d to touch and 2 analogs to 1.

Fucking boring, on both Nintendo and Sony's part. Same shit, rehashed. Tossing ports and watered down console games at us. Fuck that. I was hoping to see them wild out a bit but I think I can call this handheld gen right here and right now, yet again. Its like neither of them is reaching much at all. They will both get the same exact fucking audiences their predecessors had.

Oh well.

I cancelled my preorder after the first time I played the 3DS. 3D effect is horrible and migraine inducing, and I'm not excited about the launch lineup at all. Not sure if I'll get a PSP2 or not. It's definitely more appealing than the 3DS is though.

Really, they learned nothing.

They're showing how you can essentially play ports of PS3 games on a handheld. Didn't people pretty clearly reject that concept? People want games designed from the ground up to be played on-the-go. I have a PS3 for playing PS3 games.

Pretty sure the PSP proved that PS3 games on-the-go is a niche market.
To be fair, the 3DS has quite a few console to handheld ports.

I'm impressed by the tech of both, but neither handheld has games compelling enough for me to even consider buying them.

Depending on release date, I'm seriously tempted. WOW!
Sounds like holiday season. Likely Japan release first would be my guess, can't see it being worldwide. Meaning Q1 to Q2 for NA/EU.

And if that's the case, that's a much greater lead they're giving Nintendo this time around compared to last time.

this is pretty much how I feel. It's a nice looking piece of tech, but I already have a PS3 and the gameplay experiences with PSP2 look like they will mirror that closely. Full fledged console games are not the type of thing I'm going to spend hours playing in a car or even at home, and certainly I certainly don't need another system with $40-50 games. I barely have the time/money to keep up with current console gaming as is. I want some different. Something akin to what the iOS offers but with Sony's big budget backing and dev houses. Right now I'm passing on both 3DS and PSP2, but if I had to choose 3DS has me a little more interested because of the potential of the VC, and because the games look to offer me something different than what I already have.

I still haven't seen a price. The price is kinda like the Snitch in Quidditch, even if you're ahead in points, you still need it to win the game. :(

Sure, but Sony's goal is literally enabling console gaming on-the-go. I think they're wrong..

"He says the dream to play home console games outside on a portable (the same game) hasn't been realized yet"

"So players could play a PS3 game at home, and then take that game outside on NGP"

""This dream is going to come true in the near future""

QED.

Pretty much this.

There is real innovation in mobile gaming...but it's not coming from Nintendo or Sony.

I am not sure if developers and publishers would want to invest so much onto a portable device, when they can use those budgets for the games on the consoles.

Of course, they can just port their 360/PS3 games… but why would you want a machine that does that?

The only way for it to make sense is to have the PS3/PSP2 crossplay - meaning I only need to buy one copy of games and I can play on both systems.

this is why you are going to see a lot of recycled games and assets, just like you did with Wii/PS2/PSP. We've been down this road before.

Nintendo isn't absolved from this either. It still blows my mind that people are blowing their wads at the chance to pay $40 for a fucking PORT of a 15 year old N64 Zelda with no noticeable enhancements or upgrades other than a slightly smoother frame rate. Plenty of other companies have done that this gen (PoP Trilogy, Banjo Kazooie and Perfect Dark XBLA) and they are $10-15 downloadable titles.

Maybe Sony doesn't feel that they're competing against Nintendo directly anymore.

Although the 3DS being the "inexpensive" alternative to Sony's awesome tech machine would really suck.

I'll steal your opinion and pretend it's my own

You know I keep meaning to BUY a PSP for the few games that interest me, but now I think I'll wait. Either PSP will become ridiculously cheap or the PSP2 will be enticing enough to have my cake and eat it too (New and old games on one handheld)Definitely not Day 1 though, I'm still on board for the 3DS. Though I do wonder if hackers will be able to jailbreak it as easy as the PSP. With a handheld like this, they might even be able to make a proper DS emulator.

BTW, since the NGP is supposedly compatible with downloadable PSP titles, can anyone point me to a list of PSP games that have had downloadable releases?

Why stop at the 3DS? I'm selling my consoles too. One (portable) console future is finally here.

This thing is portable, dude. We won't even need to have a house anymore!

Why the fuck would I ditch the 3DS?

I'll be enjoying the fuck out of both portables. And enjoying all the fanboy bullshit that will come with this war. :LOL
