Who's cancelling their 3DS preorder and joining the winning team?

I'm not into these portable devices at all but if I was I wouldn't want just portable versions of the console games. Given the PSP2 specs closely resemble those of the current HD consoles it seems like thats what we are going to get here for the PSP2. Now if I could buy a PS3 game and it plays on the PSP2 just like it does on the PS3 then I might be interested as long as I don't have to buy both versions. I'm not talking the limited remote play bs either.

With that said I'm not intrigued by the 3DS either but I would imagine we will at least see a lot more unique software designed specifically for the device there.

The time cycle matches the DS vs PSP too. The big DS games started to come summer/holiday 2005 (few months after PSP launched), with a hardware revision in early 2006.

The 3DS will start to roll out its heavy hitters this holiday, just in time for PSP2 launch. By Spring 2012, when the PSP2 hype slows down a little, Nintendo will roll out its revision to the 3DS with 3DS Slim, maybe a price drop, along with 1-2 big games.

Yeah, I'm getting a smartphone.

I'm in that camp too. Probably getting an Android since I need good PDA functionality too.

3DS looks like a neat toy so I might get that at some point. PSP2 is right in the middle something I dont really need.

PSP2 has brought balance back to the Force. Nintendo was getting too much love for the 3DS, now things are back to normal: hardcore hate as they style to first place.

Hey, what's the difference between PSP2 and 3DS? Yeah that's right.. a 3D screen for 3DS, and two analog sticks, next-gen infrastructure and graphics for PSP2.

Which one of these sounds like the better deal for games?
What is this "next-gen infrastructure" you speak of? Honestly that phrase is so ambiguous its ridiculous. And yes, we all know dual-analog is the end-all be-all of portable gaming. :facepalm

I am, two methods of touch FTW! I hope they make the final name Sony Dual Touch, so much better than the completely unimaginative inclusion that is 3D.

I'll probably just get an iPad 2. My most used DS game is the alarm clock and I probably touch my PSP once every three months.

ffs why?

Looks like a great piece of hardware, but I don't think I'll have have a use for a handheld gaming system.

As has been said many times already, its full on deja vu.

2D screen??!???!

I'll probably be getting both. But for 3DS I'm waiting for a must-have title to hit, while I'll probably be getting a PSP2 at launch just for the sexy tech factor. (OLED!)

I will get a PSP2 day one, being able to play more Uncharted makes me the happiest man.

But since nobody says it, let me remind you how much Sony screwed the time to market for its machine...

Nintendo must be seriously releaved to see they have this 9 months lead. They will able to grow their userbase, extend relationships with developpers, prepare Mario Kart as well as a price cut to counter PSP2's launch. In a year when everybody will have been taught to need a Tablet, an iPhone 5, new 3D Androïd smartphones, a Kinect, and perhaps even a wii 2, Sony exposes itself to interest mostly core Sony fans being, so late to the party.
Not to say this is a small market by any mean, but it's PSP vs DS all over again. Nothing changed, except Sony is now later than it should in a more competitive environment.

Because glasses free 3d isnt sexy
I've been 3D gaming for over a year now and don't believe that it will add that much to the experience on a small portable screen. I can see it being very enticing if you haven't tried it though.

PSP2

- Video of MGS4
- Video of Lost Planet 2
- Video of a Yakuza game
- Quick and dirty gimmick port of Uncharted
- Probably a port of Wipeout HD
- A picture saying "Call of Duty"

3DS
- Bunch of baby games.

I think the winner is obvious here.
Sorry but i can only see the loser.
YOU.

PSP-1000 is so fuckin' sexy. Too bad Sony always redesigns their shit, making it uglier.
The PSP 3000 is a much better designed system when you actually try to use it tho. Why the PSP 1000 had a terrible d pad and a convex circle on the interior of the buttons (making simultaneous button presses extremely unreliable) was considered good design -ever- still baffles me.

Yeah, that's why I upgraded to a 2000.
