I have 2 questions to anyone has a WiiU

1. Did yours come with a seal on it? Mine had no sticker sealing it and I just had to undo the flap.

2. Does yours have a loose piece of something inside rattling if you hold it upside down then right side up and repeat (console itself)?

Someone could capture the purchase of a game on the eShop, its download/install then playing it ? Pretty please ? :cute eyes:

I bought Nano Assault but I'm not sure what you're requesting. I was confused because it was only 80 MBs (Naughty Shin'en) and I kept re-downloading it and it didn't show up on the main menu. Turns out I had to access the HOME menu, go to Download Management, and select install.

Scoring a deluxe at target. Very orderly. They had 7 deluxe and 1 white. I got the third deluxe ticket. Way better experience than the Wii launch. So excite!

I wanted to see like if i was doing it, the process of visiting the eShop, buying a game, purchasing it/installing it, then launching it :)

Yeah for Nano, Shin'en told us in an interview that their game size will be 100MB, so it's even less, wow !

Could you do some footage, and post some impressions about it ? :)

In line at target, got here at about 7:30 with abouth 15+ people in line. Target worker gave out tickets, probably about 20-25 ao far and still has some. Target may be the place to check if you are a big city. Live in south Fl

ran out at 7:30am to see what fate had in store for me. Target had a line of 6 people but they only have 3 black and 1 white wii U then I tried Toys R Us but the line was at least 20 people so I did not even stop.

That is about as much effort I am going to put into getting one, hope you all enjoy it I am taking a pass on this system.

Pretty disappointed by the rather lacking Wii U coverage by most websites, in terms of reviews, impressions, etc.

Tons of people are lost, not knowing which game to buy because of the total absence of reviews for some games.

Shouldn't you be disappointed with the coverage/review embargoes and lack of complete feature set (online) prior to launch? Hardly the websites fault.

To be fair, it's still 8am or 9am in most places. Most GAFers probably just bought their WiiU, launched the update and went to bed.

I expect there to be tons of impressions posted with in the next 12-24 hours.

edit: ^ and yes, the embargoes are ridiculous.

Have a question about Wii Mode. We know its partitioned off into its own little ecosystem. Is the storage space still as limited as the original Wii, or is it bigger. If I have more Wiiware and VC games that will fit, I'll still have to use an SD card right? Which I understand SD cards are only usable by Wii mode and not the Wii U side?

I went to kmart at 7 and they only had 2 basic sets and a couple of games, so I only got NSMBU, but I'm at Toys R Us now and there's a small line and a sign and everything. I also got a ticket for a deluxe set so that's awesome, but I only really came for games...

This was Nintendo's doing with the embargoes and late update

It's a matter of maths, most games are available directly in stores since days, most websites got systems since days, they should have worked hard to have reviews prepared to be published the second the Wii U is officially available.

I ended up buying three Wii Us at Walmart last night, and I have two preordered at GameStop that I'll pick up today. I'm keeping two, so that means I'll be selling the other three, I guess.

Hopefully I can sell enough to make one of my consoles "free".

Okay 8am here and Walmart's layaway opens at 9am

someone is coming to pick me up and give me a ride instead of taking the train again which would have added an extra hour of waiting on the next train to come back home.

hopefully every thing works out with my WiFi and Updating for Miiverse

may not take pics since I'm going to be busy

No I have not. I watched the video again and see that you have to move the pointer to the side of the screen to look more that direction. Seems cool but at the same time I would think you would lose badly in an online game with that controls. Any thoughts?

I use it online. It feels amazingly responsive. I do pretty well, and I'm no pro player. You can customize almost everything with the Wii Remote set up, including how fast you turn, how fast you turn when ADSing, how fast the cursor responds, etc. Treyarch did a thorough job, covering every option.

There are great players with both control schemes though. But personally, I cannot go back to dual analog ever. I wasn't even going to buy the game if it didn't have pointer aiming.

(and if you meant "how do you move your player?", you use the nunchuk)

Unfortunately I saw your post too late and so I can't share the process of what it was like to make a purchase off of the eShop, but it was generally the same as on the 3DS with a more attractive storefront. The main difference is like I said, having to go to the HOME menu and installing it. Installation was quick and afterward it ended up on the main menu like you'd expect with Nintendo's "channel" system.

I also have no way to capture any footage, but I can say that Nano Assault is a safe purchase for $10. It looks great, plays better than it did on 3DS thanks to true dual-analog aiming, and Gamepad-only play is a nice feature. To be honest I haven't dug into it enough to say much beyond that (been stuck on a NSMBU challenge stage).

No seal on mine... The rattling is probly the plastic stands.

And the visuals are impressive ? It's smooth ? You can notice some sort of anti-aliasing ?

Mario is awesome. Playing it with my fiancé and we're having a blast. Played Ninten Land briefly and it's pretty neat as well... Looking forward to seeing more of it!

Or embargoes.

Apparently it's the same as the Wii's, meaning you'll still have to use an SD card if you have more than a small amount of games. Oh and yes, SD cards only store Wii stuff.

Or embargoes.

But there is an embargo still present, preventing websites to post reviews of blops 2 or epic mickey 2 now, whereas the system is officially launched ?

And even if it's the case, they could always bypass it like some of us did for previous consoles, by posting some hands-on, part of the review, impressions, on social media, boards, etc.

It's funny this availability discrepancy between stores and areas. Quick, someone should do a spreadsheet with the % of chances of getting a Wii U without pre-order depending on the retailer and zones :p

Went out for a friend. Tried Walmart at midnight, sold out. Tried target before open, sold out.

Either it's low stock, or Wii U is a big deal in nj

40 mins til GameStop opens with my pre order!!!

Will QA for food.
Anyone downloading games via the eShop yet? Do we know the size of ZombiU and how are the speeds? About the same as the update speed?

Might just wait a while to update and download games if the servers are going to start crashing today.

I'm not quite as good as counting pixels as some other GAFers, but I am sensitive to IQ and play mostly on PC and I can say that Nano Assault Neo passed the test. I just played through the first three levels and didn't notice any slowdown and, from the couch anyway, really had to make an effort to notice any jaggies. Basically, it's a good looking game and seems to run well.
